Some people seem to expect the @IDF’s revelation of the terror infrastructure under Shifa to be like the Wizard of Oz, pull back the curtain, and—ta-da!Patience. Hamas spent 16 years building this and a month to cover its tracks.

Ita.
I have no doubt there is a tunnel complex in the vicinity of the hospital to mask the comings and goings; besides the open traffic in the main hospital which --imo-- the staff were aware of !

Gaza beach before and after the war

Gaza beach was once a beach where Gazans used to go to swim and enjoy the sand and the sun, as you can see in the picture below taken in August last year.

In the lower of these two images, which was provided by the Israel Defense Forces after the start of this conflict, Gaza beach can be seen as a military stronghold of the Israeli army which is now operating in northern Gaza.

Israeli army vehicles, along with the damaged and evacuated buildings in the background give a much different picture than the one seen at the top of this

I am worried about the state of the hostages. There are what, around 240 hostages being held? Israel removed 200 bodies from the morgue at Al Shifa. Now we hear these reports that Hamas wants to negotiate for the release of somewhere between 25 to 50 hostages. Is that because that’s all the hostages that remain alive? I hope not. IMO.

Edited to fix my really unfortunate typo where autocorrect changed Hamas to James.

I wondered who James was :D :D :D

Majority of ICU patients at Gaza's largest hospital have died, Al-Shifa doctor says

Most of the intensive care unit patients, who were on ventilators due to the lack of fuel and oxygen at the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, have died, the doctor who leads the burns department at the hospital told Al-Jazeera over the phone from inside the facility on Friday.

Dr. Ahmad Mofeed Al-Mokhalalati noted a significant decrease in the number of premature babies in their care, with little hope for the survival of the remaining infants under the current conditions.

The hospital, which is Gaza’s largest, is grappling with a severe shortage of basic necessities — no water and no electricity in the main buildings of the compound, the doctor said.

As a result, surgical operations have come to a halt due to the lack of electricity. This has led to an increase in suffering, especially among children who are now facing severe intestinal infections, a direct consequence of the unavailability of clean water, Al-Mokhalalati added.

And although he noted that Israeli forces promised to provide food, the supply delivered was grossly insufficient, catering to for only 40% of those inside the hospital, he said.

The situation escalated when the Israeli forces stormed two buildings within the medical compound, with tanks still present in the area, the doctor said. Snipers have been deployed around the hospital, adding a layer of fear and uncertainty according to Al-Mokhalalati.

Ceasefire demands will grow without proof of Hamas HQ at Al-Shifa

It is now days since Israeli forces entered Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, and what appears to be happening on Friday is that they are continuing their search for evidence of this being a key Hamas command centre.

We have to remember that there is no independent scrutiny inside the hospital; journalists cannot move freely into Gaza, and any who are reporting from the site are working under the aegis of the Israeli military.

If there was a nerve centre there - and there has been speculation about that possibility since 2014 - then the Israelis have not yet revealed definitive evidence of its existence to the outside world.

It is also possible that the Israelis have found something, and for their own reasons - military or security perhaps - have decided not to reveal it yet.

Why that would be the case is unclear - Israel has a lot riding on Al-Shifa.
Read more here.

Nerve center really needs only be a room with WIFi access & electrics for communications. They’ve had at least a week to clear out have Evaculation plans and tunnel blockages. Doubt they’ve got mainframes, star-trek consoles and a cafeteria. Likely laptops, phones, suicide vests, AKs etc.
Tunnel warfare ugly.
Isn’t it enough that there are rooms and tunnels and weapons?
It would be enough for me if there were weapons caches in the basement if my local hospital.

Hanegbi: Even if we agree to ceasefire for ‘massive’ release of hostages, it’ll be limited and short

National Security Council chairman Tzachi Hanegbi says during a press conference that Israel will only agree to a ceasefire in exchange for the release of a “massive” number of hostages, and not a “manipulative release” done by Hamas for PR purposes.

“Only then will we agree to a ceasefire and it will be very limited and short because afterward we will continue advancing toward our goals for the war,” Hanegbi says.

The National Security Council chairman says the war cabinet is united in its strategy for advancing the release of the hostages, indicating that the ministers believe it will only happen if Hamas feels squeezed and under pressure, rejecting the claim of Qatari mediators that the IDF’s ground incursion complicates the talks.

[...]

Israel has, however, agreed to four-hour humanitarian pauses in different neighborhoods in northern Gaza each day to allow Palestinians to flee south through humanitarian corridors established by the IDF.

Earlier, the UN said Gaza’s civilians faced the “immediate possibility” of starvation, and overcrowding and the lack of clean water were speeding the spread of disease as winter approaches.

Deliveries of already scarce food and other supplies have been halted in recent days because of shortages of fuel for trucks and a communications blackout that made it impossible to coordinate deliveries, aid agencies said. Palestinian network operators said they had no fuel to power phone and internet systems.

You can read our full report on the situation for civilians in Gaza here:

IDF warns people in four northern Gaza neighborhoods to evacuate

The IDF called for people in four neighborhoods in northern Gaza to evacuate south via the Salah Al-Din road, saying they should do so until 4 p.m. local time "to preserve your safety," according to an IDF post in Arabic on X.

It also said it would pause military activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time in "the western Rafah area and in the Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood."

"Do not surrender to the dictates of Hamas, which has lost control over the northern Gaza Strip and is trying to prevent you from moving south and protect yourselves," the post said.

IDF 'close to dismantling the military system' in northern Gaza, chief of staff says

The Israeli military is “close to dismantling the military system in the northern Gaza Strip,” its chief of staff said today.

Quoted in a Telegram post from the IDF, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said that there was still “work to be completed.”

He added that more of the enclave’s regions would be targeted, “systematically eliminating commanding officers and eliminating operatives, and eradicating the infrastructure,” the Telegram post said.

At least 50 protesters arrested after Bay Bridge in San Francisco is SHUT DOWN by hundreds calling for Gaza ceasefire amid APEC summit

At least 50 pro-Palestinian protesters have been arrested for blocking the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge while calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Protestors blocked all lanes of the vital westbound I-80 on the Bay Bridge, California
Highway Patrol said on Thursday morning.

Officials said at least another 50 protesters could be arrested following a review of videos of active participants, officials said.
Red emphasis mine.

Good.

These are supposedly "non-violent" acts of protest, however what if someone needed to get through for a medical emergency ?
Again the motorists using this bridge and other highways are innocent people trying to get to work or back home after a long shift.
These protesters are vile.

Here's a thought : Impound their cars every time for a good long time and make them pay exorbitant fees to retrieve them !
Maybe without wheels for a while, they'll not be able to harass people for that much longer ?
Omo.

I wonder whether the protesters shouting pro-Gaza slogans today are the same people who shouted Black Lives Matter a few months ago. Are the protesters simply bored, too lazy to read, restless, and looking for excitement - so off they march to shout about something and get agitated?

I worked Intelligence for a major city PD for many years and have covered too many protests to count. You hit the nail on the head, @otto. Some people are literally professional protesters. We would see the same people at every protest no matter the cause. Most of this ilk that we encountered were privately funded, anti US, anti democracy, uninformed individuals who are led around like puppies.
Watch some of the newscasts that do “man on the street” interviews at these gatherings. Half of those interviewed have no idea what they are talking about. They merely followed the crowd out the door of their college or university, sometimes at the behest of a professor, sometimes for extra credit on their grades.
This is what happens when we teach opinion rather than fact, whether it be in our schools or in our media. We are no longer presenting facts upon which an informed person can make a decision; we are now being told what to think, (or not to think at all).

It’s terrible isn’t it when innocent people need emergency medical treatment and they cant get it.

The Israeli War Cabinet has Unanimously Voted today to Approve the Transfer of several Diesel Tankers of Fuel to the Gaza Strip over the next 48 Hours; this Fuel, roughly 60,000 Liters, will be directly provided to Humanitarian Organizations in the Strip by way of the Rafah Border Crossing with Egypt in order to Power the Desalination and Sewage Facilities which are still Operational.

Members of the War Cabinet such as Prime Minister Netanyahu who previously stated, “Fuel will not be provided to the Gaza Strip” are claiming this has to be done based on “Political Factors” which likely means that it was Demanded by the United States.

The Israeli Defense Ministry released Footage today showing the launch of an “Arrow” Anti-Ballistic Missile from the Air Defense Array earlier this week in order to Intercept a Land-Attack Cruise Missile which was launched by the Houthis in Yemen towards the City of Eilat in Southern Israel.

It is interesting that 25 Thai hostages are supposedly going to be freed.

Are they women and children?

Is Thailand negotiating separately?
Did they promise something to Hamas in exchange of Thai hostages?

Are countries doing negotiations separately?

Sounds like the Thai hostages are part of the Thai Muslim minority and that some internal political leaders in Thailand are in direct contact with Iran and have been able to negotiate with Iran and Hamas. Friends in Tehran, friends in Hamas.

New satellite imagery shows extent of damage to Hamas parliament building

Satellite imagery over Gaza has been very limited in recent days, but we’ve obtained the latest high-quality imagery from Planet Labs which BBC Verify is currently studying.

Earlier this week there were reports that the Palestinian Legislative Council – the Gaza parliament building - had been destroyed.

We now have imagery from Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 November. In the first image, the building appears intact, in the second, extensive damage can be seen.

The area in front of the building appears to have been flattened. Tracks in the soil suggest heavy vehicles such as bulldozers have cleared the area.

‘We’ve met every goal set for Gaza operation, and it’s only the beginning,’ Hanegbi says

National Security Council chairman Tzachi Hanegbi says the IDF is marking three weeks since the launch of its ground incursion in Gaza and is now operating in the heart of Gaza City, striking every target that it wanted.

Thousands of terrorists have been killed including senior members of Hamas’s leadership, Hangebi says. “All of the goals set by the security cabinet have been met, and as the prime minister said, ‘This is only the beginning,'”

We’re determined to reach the end of the battle, and the end of the battle will be the end of Hamas,” he says.

“We will not stop until all of Hamas’s and Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s military and leadership capabilities are eradicated,” Hanegbi adds.

This appears to be one of the first times that the PIJ has been included in such statements regarding Israel’s war aims.
