I’m thinking my initial suspicion that some of these hostages will be cared for by women have been cared for by women. We know they said “crime families,” but as I stated earlier I would think women would be assigned to them for care and certain duties.

I am really surprised how good many of them look, and the good condition they are in.

Can’t wait to hear their stories one day.

I don’t expect a lot of talking about their time in captivity, as seen with prior hostages released, until all hostages are released.

At least three Palestinians, including Obada, were killed by Israeli settlers and soldiers during the attack on Qusra.

To my knowledge, not even South Africa allowed partisan civilian militias to accompany police or para military patrols into black townships (run very similar to the West Bank). The mixing of civilian militias and police did occur in the US segregated US south. But.... even then, it was rare.

In the end, allowing partisan civilian militias of any ideology, religion or ethnicity to accompany police during law enforcement activities is, well, moronic for many reasons. I wonder if this practice is historic in Israel? Or.... is another Netanyahu "innovation"?

NBC: The Biden administration is "disappointed" no Americans have been by Hamas but remain "hopeful."

"We are disappointed that we haven’t seen the Americans on a list yet, but we are hopeful for the next couple of days," one official said, adding "the U.S. is hopeful that we can keep the pause in place and the exchange in place, because we want all of the hostages out."

One official said there is "common concern" that Hamas is holding the three Americans until the fourth day of the exchange to encourage the U.S. to put pressure on Israel for an extended pause in fighting, but the sources could not point to any official assessment or intelligence confirming that to be the case.

Previous reports from administration officials have said 10 Americans were missing.

Emily Hand's family have expressed gratitude to those who have supported them since the nine-year-old Irish-Israeli girl was kidnapped by Hamas.

In a statement issued to RTÉ News they said: "Emily has come back to us! We can't find the words to describe our emotions after 50 challenging and complicated days. We are overjoyed to embrace Emily again."

"We want to express our gratitude to everyone who helped and supported us during the last 50 days until Emily's return. We appreciate the unwavering support as we continue our efforts for the safe return of all," they said.

The family refer to the mother of Emily's friend Hila, who was not freed from Gaza, "we remember Raya Rotem and all the hostages who have yet to return. We will persist in doing everything in our power to bring them back home."

Israel receives list of third group of hostages to be released Sunday

Israel has received the list of hostages who are slated to be released Sunday, an official familiar with the matter tells The Times of Israel.

The Kan public broadcaster reports that Israel has started notifying the families whose loved ones are on the list handed over by Qatar, which has been mediating between Israel and Hamas.

It will be the third day of a four-day truce, which Qatar said earlier today it hopes will be extended further with the release of more abductees.

Washington, DC –
The United States has renewed its opposition to Israeli settlement policies, saying that Washington was “extremely troubled” by an Israeli law that paves the way for restoring illegal settlements in the north of the occupied West Bank.

State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters on Tuesday that the law, approved by the Knesset hours earlier, violates Israeli commitments to Washington against advancing settlements in the area.

“The legislative changes announced today are particularly provocative and counterproductive to efforts to restore some measures of calm as we head into Ramadan, Passover and the Easter holidays,” Patel said.

He added that the US “strongly urges” Israel to refrain from returning settlers to the area, parts of which are privately owned by Palestinians.
The law, approved in a 31-18 vote in the early hours of Tuesday, reverses a 2005 Israeli measure that ordered the evacuation of four settlement outposts in the northern West Bank.

On Tuesday, Patel went on to broadly criticise Israeli settlement expansion. “This is something specifically we have been very clear about — that the growth of settlements and outposts is inconsistent with our views on what steps are necessary to get us to a negotiated two-state solution in a peaceful way,” he said during a news briefing.

Despite the strong words, Patel was pressed repeatedly by reporters about what the Biden administration is doing to sway Israel from advancing its settlement plans, and he failed to outline any measures beyond raising the issue with Israeli officials.
Israel, accused of imposing a system of apartheid by leading human rights organisations like Amnesty International, receives at least $3.8bn of US aid annually.

“I’m not going to stand up here and offer a litany list of all the ways in which we can hold our Israeli partners accountable,” Patel said on Tuesday.

A White House statement describing a call between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday did not mention any US criticism of settlements. Instead, the White House said Biden “reiterated his unwavering commitment to Israel’s security” during the call.

“Our commitment to Israel’s security and Israel’s security concerns are ironclad,” Patel said on Tuesday. “But I will also note that we have — when we need to — very frank and honest conversations with our Israeli partners.”

These are the abductees' relatives who were left behind

Some hostages did not have the option to take their family members out of captivity with them.

I wonder if the men are kept in a different location if they were not killed right away. We haven't seen any videos of any male hostages like the ones they released of 1 then 3 women speaking.

Yes, Hamas violated the ceasefire agreement. They separated mothers from their children, contrary to the agreement.

"13-year-old Hila Rotem Shoshani, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Be'eri, also returned to Israel, but had to say goodbye to her 54-year-old mother Raya, who was not returned by Hamas tonight."

This is a violation of the agreement by Hamas, which pledged not to separate mothers from their children."

I guess when 2 State Solution is implemented,
the settlers will be the first to run away from West Bank, leaving a big cloud of dust in their wake

One of the articles upthread said their male relative was not kept with them. I think you’re right and the males are kept separately. IMO the males endure physical torture in addition to psychological.

Qatari Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari told CNN that he could not confirm if any Americans would be released on the third day of the truce and that he hopes to extend the truce beyond four days.
The ministry spokesperson also said Qatar is working with partners in Egypt, the United States, and both parties of the conflict to ensure the agreed amount of aid trucks are allowed into Gaza.

Emily Hand a 9 year-old dual Israeli-Irish citizen was kidnapped by Hamas. Her step mother who raised her was murdered. For almost 50 days she was in a tunnel in Gaza without her parents. But for the Prime Minister of Ireland "she was lost and now been found"
I wondered what happened to Emily's mother. Now we know that her step-mother raised her, but she was murdered on October 7. It's not surprising that Emily appears emotionally numb. Presumably, she is now going to live with her father in Ireland.
