Qatar hopes to extend truce beyond four days, Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson says

From CNN's Mitchell McCluskey

Qatar is hoping to extend the truce between Israel and Hamas beyond the agreed upon four days, Qatari Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari told CNN Saturday.

Al-Ansari said he continues to work with senior officials in Qatar to address concerns from either side of the conflict regarding the implementation of the hostage deal.

Al-Ansari added that he could not confirm if any Americans would be released on the third day of the truce.

The ministry spokesperson also said Qatar is working with partners in Egypt, the United States, and both parties of the conflict to ensure the agreed amount of aid trucks are allowed into Gaza.

Al-Ansari responded to the head of the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs who accused Israel of not abiding by the agreement to release prisoners in order of length of time served.
I wonder what's that^^^ about?

Hamas wants the prisoners to be released in order of length of time served?

So they want those in the longest to be released first? That seems like a big ask, considering that would likely be the most violent, hardest criminals.

"We are now hopeful with the third day of this pause we will be able to hash out all of the details that made this day so difficult," he said.

So I guess Israel had to accept Hamas sending children out without their mom's and Hamas has to accept the soldiers as they come?

The 4 Thai nationals released tonight from Gaza are named, their families notified

The four Thai hostages released on Saturday from captivity in Gaza alongside 13 Israelis are named by media as Natthaphon Onkaew, Khomkrit Chombua, Anucha Angkaew and Manee Jirachat.

The Health Ministry says they have been taken to Shamir Medical Center to receive medical and psychological care as needed.

The Foreign Ministry says it is in continued contact with the Thai and Philippines embassies regarding their citizens’ release, and that the families of those released have been notified.

An UNRWA badge at that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The whole problem with UNRWA is that it is a self-licking ice cream cone. Asking them to "fix themselves" is akin to asking them to cut their own throats. Only impartial, outside management of their funding will ever "fix" them.

The only International United Nations Agency in the entire world that exists solely FOR Palestinians and BY Palestinians. No one else. The only thing international about it is the funding from all those donor nations.

They are constantly caught in 'duplicity' with Hamas and form the largest basis for economy and employment and education. And, we've seen the facts on their 'education' - their textbooks, their math equations about dead Jews, and their map of 1947 British Mandate Palestine that fails to take into account their own problematic history of starting wars with Israel alongside all their neighbours and losing land when they lost that war. The only thing they teach about the interim years is what "the Zionists" have done wrong.

Until the entire history, including their own roles in it, instead of solely 'their victimization', are acknowledged and taught to their children absolutely nothing, including a two-state soloution (even if Palestine is de-militarized) will solve any of the issues being experienced in this region.

If one truely wants peace and stability then that is what they need to be preaching at home, at school and in the streets. Their neighbours already know that fact as they've learned from the past and that's a major reason why their neighbours won't and don't take them in as refugees or grant them citizenship today.

Would you happen to know how many UN workers total are in Gaza and West Bank? And are there that many worldwide? I’ve seen numbers at 13,000 in Gaza and 4,000 in WB but also have seen as many as 30,000 combined. Either way, those numbers are staggering.

Thai prime minister Srettha Thavisin has named the four Thai nationals recently released by Hamas.

They are: Natthaphon Onkaew, Khomkrit Chombua, Anucha Angkaew and Manee Jirachat.

Thavisin said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter):

From the initial physical examination

– Everyone is healthy. No one needed urgent medical attention.

– Everyone talks and walks normally.

– Everyone is happy to be released. Overall, mental health is in a good state. They can talk normally. They want to take a shower and contact their families.

Currently on the way to Shamir Medical Center Hospital (Assaf Harofe).

Thank you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Security Department.

So that put Israel in a sticky situation. They were within their rights to complain about Hamas breaking the rules but if Hamas continued to defy the rules---then what?

Does Israel refuse to accept the hostages, even though they are correct that Raya Rotem SHOULD be released with her young daughter?

Hamas is wrong for holding her back but they know there is little Israel can do about it.:mad:
Noting: The failure of Hamas to release the mother is contrary to the Ceasefire Agreement terms that are in place.

Israel is being civil precisely because they have to be. But lest there be any doubt - an official breach of the ceasefire has already occured and is being noted by the Israeli side to the world. No wonder Qater and Egyt were all over Hamas to at least get the remainder of the hostages to the Red Cross STAT.

I will be studying these videos for years.
Though I wont be studying them that long, the hostages looked clean, rested, fed and in matching clothes. This could well be because they were given the opportunity to wash themselves before the exchange and could have been given better food as well.

The HAMAS fighters also seemed rested, relaxed and were in clean uniforms with full equipment (limited by formal military standards, but full equipment by their standards). Though very subjective, HAMAS did not seem to be a beaten enemy when making the exchange.

I'm hoping that she will be released in the next round of hostage trade. It sounds like she was going to be released today with her daughter but, after Hamas demands for fuel deliveries to Northern Gaza fell through, she was held back alongside 3 prisoners in Israel.
