Israel says Hamas gave new list that adheres to truce rules; Qatar confirms 1-day extension

The Prime Minister’s Office says the Gaza truce will continue today, after a list was received a short while ago of 10 women and children hostages set for release from Gaza that complies with the agrees ceasefire rules.

Qatar’s foreign ministry confirms the one-day extension of the truce between Israel and Hamas, saying that it will be under the same terms as the previous six days, which saw Hamas release at least 10 hostages in exchange for at least 30 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel.

Israeli military says "operational pause will continue" amid ongoing talks for more hostage releases

From CNN staff

The "operational pause" in fighting between Israel and Hamas will continue amid ongoing talks for the release of more hostages, the Israel Defense Forces said, minutes before the truce was set to expire.

“In light of the mediators' efforts to continue the process of releasing the hostages and subject to the terms of the framework, the operational pause will continue,” the IDF said.

Hamas also confirmed the extension of the truce for a seventh day in a statement.
The group had previously said negotiations for an extension were at an impasse after Israel refused an offer to receive seven women and children and the bodies of three others who they claim were killed by Israeli bombardment in return for an extension of the truce.

CNN’s political and foreign policy analyst Barak Ravid reported prior to the expiration that “Israeli officials say Hamas proposed via mediators to release less than 10 hostages or to release hostages that are not women and children.”

Diplomatic sources close to the negotiations told CNN that Hamas was only able to offer seven women and children and offered to include an additional three elderly hostages.

Hamas says Israel refused to accept seven hostages and three dead bodies in exchange for truce extension

Hamas announced that Israel has refused to accept seven additional hostages, women and children, and three bodies of its citizens – also women and children – in exchange for extending the ceasefire for another day, starting from Thursday morning.

According to the statement, the three bodies belong to hostages who were killed in IDF bombings in the Strip. The organization further claimed that this number represents all the hostages in its possession, among the women and children held in Gaza.

According to the understandings between the terrorist organization and Israel, the ceasefire is supposed to end at 7:00 in the morning unless an extension is agreed upon. Overnight on Wednesday, the war cabinet convened to discuss the matter, but it has not been reported yet whether any agreements were reached.

Earlier, the military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, stated that its forces are maintaining readiness in case the ceasefire is not extended beyond 7:00.
Guess they managed to find the 10.

The Prime Minister's Office: "The War Cabinet unanimously decided last night that if a list is not delivered by seven o'clock this morning as agreed upon in the outline - fighting will resume immediately. A short time ago a list of women and children was delivered to Israel in accordance with the terms of the agreement, and therefore the truce will continue."

An Israeli source confirms: a new list of 10 abductees has been received that meets the conditions

So the terms are supposed to be women and children, per upstream.

Eta:
Interesting because I thought this was the orginal terms of the agreement, yet others were released.

So were they originally holding them back.

Is is going to be very interesting to see who is on this list, as far as further applying deductive reasoning to the missing hostages equation (as done with Shiri, Kfir, Ariel).

( *eta: this post is corrected and addressed downstream. I didn’t realize 18 was considered to be a child.)

Re: Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel:

IF they were killed in an air strike, which imo IS A possibility, due the heavy bombardment, them possibly being kept by other entities which could have been specific targets due to them being known as “crime families,” confirmation per the first released Russian hostage that a building collapsed during an air strike from which he escaped, and confirmation per Emily Hand’s account of being transferred from “safe house to safe house,” I was initially thinking that since it is being claimed they were killed in a strike, then Hamas/PIJ would/should know when and where that occurred. And then IDF should be able to go to that location and look for their remains.

The problems that occur are now are a few things:

#1: Identification of remains impacted by IDF strikes (intense study of ID’ing “commingled and fragmented remains” from 9/11, ones that have been been burned at high temperatures and have been pulverized during collapse) are extremely challenging.

#2: With the beyond immense amount of Gazan bodies perhaps mixed in with the Israeli hostages, as we know so many people packed in, identification would prove to be an extremely challenging task.

It is of course also possible some hostages are being kept as a get out of jail free card, so to speak, for future leverage for negotiating.

And of course it is possible they were murdered, with the terrorists falsely claiming they were killed in air strikes, as we’ve seen previously with the murdered Israeli Soldier.
I think with a pause they might be able to figure it out. Especially, with some intel..
Now if they have to go all over Gaza, it will be like a needle in a hay stack. But if they have intel, they might be able to pinpoint where they are. If those three bodies that Hamas is talking about are them, Hamas could have moved them......

So the terms are supposed to be women and children, per upstream.

Women and children were released. The others were foreign workers from Thailand and Philippines which was a separate deal and 3 Russian/Israeli dual citizens As a favor for Putin.

I was speaking about the Israeli males released.

Those were 18 and younger.

Ahhh, Itay is “18”. Thanks.

“Regev's 18-year-old son, Itay, was released on Wednesday.”

I didn’t see 18 was considered to a be a child.

Glad of course he is home.

Initial reports of a terror attack at three different spots at the entrance to Jerusalem near Shazar Street. Injuries reported. Updates to follow.

Milutiple Hebrew media outlets report that the updated list of hostages to be freed today is made up of only eight hostages — six women and two children — and that the two Israeli-Russian women released last night as a “gesture” to Russian President Vladimir Putin will count toward today’s list.

Some of the reports, which cite an unnamed “Israeli official,” say that three bodies of abductees will also be returned.

According to the ceasefire rules, the pause in fighting can continue for more days only if the Hamas terror group frees 10 women and children for each day of the extension.
