Blinken says US concerned about ‘Iranian proxies’ attacking Americans, Israel

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says that the US is deeply concerned about Iran escalating the current Israel-Hamas war.

“We are concerned at the possibility of Iranian proxies escalating their attacks against our own personnel, our own people,” Blinken says on CBS News. “We expect there is a likelihood of escalation.”

“No one should take advantage of this moment to escalate to further attacks on Israel or, for that matter, attacks on us on our personnel,” he says.

Blinken says the United States, which has sent two carrier groups to the eastern Mediterranean, is “taking every measure to make sure that we can defend them. And if necessary, respond decisively.”

I find it interesting (for lack of a better term) that they dressed them in pajamas (black with hearts, iirc). They also have mattresses. More evidence of extensive planning, not that we need any.

I would doubt all the hostages got pajamas and mattresses, but who knows. We do know some were/are held in tunnels.

Eta: how awful they took Tomer (before they killed him) door to door to urge people out of their homes. :(

Eta2: Apologies in advance if I’m confusing videos, still overloaded.
Very well done video, the cruelty and suffering is almost unbearable ..
Holding out hope for the girls and noting that the pajama colour design should be inverted to black hearts and a red background to reflect the wearer's horrific situation, imo, speculation.
Might try to get a copy of this book..rbbm

''The book begins with a quote from Nazir Afzal, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West of England : “There was research in the 1980s...the number one finding was that the first victim of an extremist or terrorist is the woman in his own home. We’ve forgotten that. We haven’t built on that.” “Home Grown” provides irrefutable evidence based on researching the histories of many mass killers, that the men who commit public atrocities have very probably practised their terrorism at home first. It also suggests that the lessons that should have been learned in the 1980s are still being resisted today.''

''Smith notes that in 2017 she met with one of the UK’s most senior police officers, and asked him if he’d noticed that the London and Manchester terrorist attacks had all been carried out by men who’d abused women. He was suprised by her question and told her “the connection had never come up, not even once, in any of the discussions he’d had over many years with experts on terrorism.”

''The extremist ideologies they adopted were used to justify turning their private violence loose in the public sphere. Leaders of extremist movements and groups have, in effect, “weaponised misogyny” to get recruits who are already de-humanised.

“Home Grown” is a chilling read. It is also a call for urgent action: domestic violence must be faced and tackled as seriously criminal behaviour, for all our sakes.''

The family of missing UK teenager Noiya Sharabi has told the BBC that she was murdered in the Hamas attack.

According to the BBC, 16-year old Noiya and her 13-year old sister Yahel disappeared following Hamas’s attack on Kibbutz Be’eri which killed their mother, Lianne.

Speaking to the outlet, Noiya’s family said that she has been officially identified and said, “Noiya was clever, sensitive, fun and full of life - her smile lit up the room like a beacon.”

They added that Noiya embraced every opportunity to help others, particularly those less fortunate than she, and was a gifted student and linguist, the BBC reports.

The two sisters had been missing since Hamas’s attack on October 7. Their father Eli is reported to still be missing. The BBC adds that other relatives have been kidnapped.

Blinken says he's hopeful more hostages will be released

US President Joe Biden's administration is “hopeful” that more hostages held by Hamas will be released, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday.

“We don’t know why Hamas chose to release Natalie and Judith (Raanan) first. I use the word first advisedly, because again, we’re hopeful that more follow,” he said. “This is something we’re engaged in virtually around the clock.”

He said US officials have been engaged with partners in the region and in talks with those who might have influence with Hamas to release the hostages.

Blinken said that of the 10 Americans unaccounted for, some are believed to be hostages, but he didn’t provide an exact figure.

“What we don’t know for sure is whether some of the unaccounted for are dead and have simply not been uncovered yet, or whether they’re hostage. But we have a pretty strong idea that some number of the 10, at least, are being held in Gaza by Hamas,” he said.

When asked whether the US wants Israel to delay its ground operation until more hostages can be released — as CNN has reported, according to two sources briefed on the discussions — Blinken said the US is talking to Israel on a regular basis but maintained the decisions are for Israel to make.

Supplies suggest Hamas terrorists intended to stay, kibbutz leader says

KIBBUTZ RE’IM, Israel — At the kibbutz near where 260 people were killed at a music festival, a community leader said Hamas terrorists brought supplies suggesting they intended to stay, possibly for days.

Noam Mark, 60, a resident of Kibbutz Re’im, said large supplies of food and water brought from Gaza were found in the aftermath of the attack. The Hamas terrorists had also set up a makeshift medical post onsite to treat their own wounded, stocked with first aid supplies and even a blood transfusion kit, he added.

Spent bullet casings and trauma gloves remain littered on the ground, amid the debris of destroyed houses. Mark pointed out one home that he said the Israeli army decided to bulldoze after Hamas terrorists barricaded themselves inside.

ITA! It is the epitome of human tragedy whether the violence is directed toward women and children family members or complete strangers as has happened in Israel. I think the reason Hamas targeted so many women and children was to add to the emotional trauma of their loved ones.

Terrorists are serial killer sociopaths. That's why I want them to receive the death penalty rather than send them to some prison.

Hundreds rally at UN in Geneva to demand release of hostages in Gaza

The protest on the square outside the UN’s Palais des Nations headquarters in Geneva is organized by the Voice for Freedom coalition, bringing together several Christian Zionist organizing committees.

Many demonstrators wave Israeli flags or wear them around their shoulders, or hold posters featuring pictures of missing Israelis, including children.

Leon Meijer, president of Christians for Israel International, urges the UN Human Rights Council to “work for the release of the hostages,” saying: “Save the lives of those who can still be saved.”

Today, President Joseph R. Biden spoke with His Holiness Pope Francis to discuss the latest developments in Israel and Gaza. The President condemned the barbarous attack by Hamas against Israeli civilians and affirmed the need to protect civilians in Gaza. He discussed his recent visit to Israel and his efforts to ensure delivery of food, medicine, and other humanitarian assistance to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They also discussed the need to prevent escalation in the region and to work toward a durable peace in the Middle East.

The Egyptian army said that one of its watchtowers along the border with Gaza was accidentally hit by fragments of an Israeli tank shell. Some border control personnel sustained minor injuries as a result of shelling. The statement added that Israel expressed its regret for the unintentional accident immediately after it occurred, and its circumstances are being investigated.

The Israel Defense Forces publishes a series of aerial images showing Hamas rocket launchers near civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has long accused Hamas of operating from civilian areas of Gaza.

“Since the beginning of the war, the Hamas terrorist organization has been exploiting civilians and civilian sites such as kindergartens, schools, and mosques for the purpose of firing rockets at Israel. Hamas deliberately fires its rockets at Israeli civilians,” the IDF says.

Herzog to families of hostages: ‘I pledge to do everything’ to bring them home

President Isaac Herzog tells families whose loved ones are held hostage in Gaza that Israel is doing everything it can to bring them back.

Some 80 families were represented at the 90-minute meeting, which included the president and his wife, Michal Herzog.

“We’re here to help, to embrace, to strengthen, to support and to think together about solutions,” Herzog tells the group, according to his office. “We have a national challenge, and it’s an enormous challenge. It requires us to act calmly and responsibly.”

The president adds: “We want to bring your loved ones home, soon — that’s the challenge.”

Herzog says that, “as the president of Israel, I pledge to you to do everything to bring your loved ones home — that is the top goal from my perspective.”

Several hundred supporters stand outside Herzog’s residence in Jerusalem, waiting for representatives of the families of those missing and held captive.

“They must return our daughters to us, we entrusted them to you,” says the father of Roni Eshel, a soldier at the Nahal Oz base who is believed to be held hostage. “I’m calling to the only person, to the prime minister, you drafted them and you need to bring them home.”
