Israel strikes Gaza, Syria and West Bank as war against Hamas threatens to ignite other fronts

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli warplanes struck targets across Gaza, two airports in Syria and a mosque in the occupied West Bank allegedly used by militants, as the 2-week-old war with Hamas threatened to spiral Sunday into a broader conflict.

Associated Press journalists saw seven fuel trucks head north from the border, but Touma and the Israeli military said those trucks were taking fuel that had been stored on the Gaza side of the crossing deeper into the territory, and that no fuel had entered from Egypt.

Sooo... is Hamas getting help ?

The Israeli military said the humanitarian situation was “under control,” even as OCHA called for 100 trucks a day to enter.
Are they checking those trucks to make sure it's food and medical aid -- and not ammo/weapons ?
How the heck would they even start to check 100 trucks a day ??

I don't like how this article blames Israel for broadening the conflict.
Sounds like misinformation and almost like propaganda.

Omo.

Eta: I did find the red bolded important. Journalists are seeing these events unfolding in real time. Hope they are staying safe !

Israel confirms it allowed entry of humanitarian aid from Egypt to Gaza today

The military’s liaison to the Palestinians confirms that Israel allowed the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip via Egypt today, following requests by the Biden administration.

“At the request of the American administration and in accordance with the instructions of the political echelon, humanitarian aid from the United Nations containing only water, food, and medical equipment was brought into the southern Gaza Strip today, through the Rafah crossing in Egypt,” the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) says in a statement.

“All the equipment was checked by Israeli security officials before entering Gaza,” COGAT adds.

A defense source says that Israel will allow the entry of food, water, and medical supplies — but not fuel — to enter southern Gaza from Egypt, for Palestinian civilians of the area and those who have evacuated there, as long as it does not reach the Hamas terror group.

“Any other supply attempt that is not coordinated and approved by Israel, will be thwarted,” the source warns.

More background: The Israeli military has been increasing its attacks against Hamas and collecting information regarding the hostages held in Gaza, according to Hagari.

Hamas fighters clashed with Israeli troops inside Gaza Sunday, in what appears to be one of the first skirmishes between the two sides on the ground inside the strip since war broke out on October 7.

The IDF chief of staff told commanders Saturday that the military is preparing to "enter the Gaza Strip" and take out Hamas, but he did not provide a specific timeframe. The US is seeking to delay an Israeli ground offensive in Gaza, in hopes of getting more hostages out and more humanitarian aid in to the besieged enclave, according to two sources briefed on discussions

Israeli soldier killed and 3 others hurt as IDF prepares for Gaza ground operation, military says

From CNN’s Pierre Meilhan and Tamar Michaelis

An Israel Defense Forces soldier died and three others were wounded during a raid as part of preparations for a Gaza ground operation, an IDF spokesperson said Sunday.
The raid was carried out earlier today in the area of Kibbutz Kissufim near the Gaza Strip, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said during a video briefing. An anti-tank missile launched toward an IDF tank and an engineering vehicle left one soldier dead, one with moderate injuries, and two with mild injuries, according to Hagari.
The IDF said the raid was part of the preparations for a Gaza ground operation, with Israeli forces attempting “to dismantle terror infrastructure, clear the area of terrorists, weapons, and locate missing persons, and bodies.”
The family of the killed and wounded soldiers have been notified, according to the IDF.

President Isaac Herzog reveals in an interview with Sky News that Hamas had planned to use cyanide agents against Israeli civilians.

Herzog shows off materials recovered from USB drive on the body of a Hamas terrorist in Israel which was copied from al-Qaeda and included “detailed instructions on creating chemical weapons,” including “precise instructions for preparing a device for dispersing cyanide agents,” the President’s Office says.

This is material which was found on the body of one of those sadistic villains. It’s al-Qaeda material, official al-Qaeda material,” Herzog tells the TV network. “When dealing with ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hamas, this is what we’re dealing with. And in this material, there were instructions, how to produce chemical weapons.”

‘An atmosphere of fear’: free speech under threat in Israel, activists say

Two activists from a Jewish-Arab peace movement were recently detained in Israel for putting up posters with a message that the police deemed to be offensive. The message was: “Jews and Arabs, we will get through this together.”

The activists, members of Standing Together, had their posters confiscated, as well as T-shirts printed with peace slogans in Hebrew and Arabic.

It was not an isolated incident. Across Israel, people are being detained, fired from their jobs, and even attacked for expressing sentiments interpreted by some as showing sympathy for Hamas after the group’s murderous attack on 7 October. The definition of pro-Hamas is often widened to include expressions of sympathy for the plight of Palestinian children trapped in Gaza, or calls for peace, especially if expressed in both Arabic and Hebrew.

(...)

The crackdown is directed primarily by the government of Benjamin Netanyahu. Since the attack, police have been given wide discretion to determine what applies as support for terrorism. They no longer have to refer back to the state prosecutors, which the human rights lawyer Michael Sfard said removes an important level of legal protection for individual free speech.

“We’re seeing a tsunami of police investigations,” Sfard said. “People who are targeted go through a very frightening experience and even if it ends with no indictments, it’s still horrendous.

“There is a wave of silencing of any type of, not only criticism, but also just compassion.”

“A lot of people are being laid off from work because of different political views or just their identity,” Green said. “Every day we get hundreds of phone calls to our hotline specifically from people who are losing their jobs. A few dozen of them could be said to have expressed support for Hamas, but the overwhelming majority have posted calls to stop the war, or saying things like: there are also children in Gaza."

Oh God….

So theory confirmed imo, different hostages for different purposes including “women for some.”

:(

Eta: Or was this just for one day on Oct. 7, then killed?

Is this a confirmed hostage.
What does the tweet say? Something about different hostages for different purposes, what are the babies for?

It is video of a woman being taken.

The tweet says,

"No, no, take her back. This one is not a prisoner. This one is for rape!"

Watch as Hamas terrorists deliberate the capture/rape of a young Israeli woman during their October 7th attack in southern Israel.

The sickest kind of human beings.
