That is understandably a problem when the government's priority is protecting their militants, and using the civilians as shields.WHO says 'almost impossible' to bring humanitarian aid to people in Gaza
The World Health Organization (WHO) has said it is doing everything it can to ensure that the people of Gaza have access to life-saving health and humanitarian services but that “in the current situation this is almost impossible”.
The WHO’s emergencies director, Michael Ryan, said the basic safety of staff on the ground in Gaza could not be guaranteed at the moment, Agence France-Presse reported. It was “unconscionable”, he said.
The UN agency had never found it as difficult to establish basic rules of engagement regarding minimum safety guarantees for humanitarians, he added.
Getting medical supplies to where they are needed “has not been facilitated, that has not been supported; in fact, if anything, quite the opposite”, he added.
(@margarita25 First quote I've seen from Dr Mike on this)
Israel-Hamas war live: Troops ‘completed the encirclement of Gaza City’, says IDF; WHO says ‘almost impossible’ to bring aid to Gaza
Do they have any power these days?
It seems to be about getting aid into Gaza in the first place and then onward to the hospitals that need it. And of course conditions on the ground aren't safe for aid workers north or south. Here is more context to his remarks. That is understandably a problem when the government's priority is protecting their militants, and using the civilians as shields.
I'm curious whether the UN is in the humanitarian zone set aside by the IDF, or whether they have remained in evacuation zones. If they are in evacuation zones, of course they cannot access humanitarian aide in the South.
Yes I believe they are, but I wonder if they then can cross from Egypt to Israel fairly easily? I'd say for sure US citizens could do this since we are on good terms with Israel and helping to negotiate the exit of these people from Gaza to Egypt.Possible, but arent the folks coming out of Gaza through Rafah and into Egypt?
<respectfully snipped>"Occupying authorities have a special responsibility to ensure that such facilities are not only protected, but serviced and supplied with the adequate needs for the populations that they serve.
WHO Slams Gaza Aid Delivery Problems
The World Health Organization on Thursday slammed the lack of safety guarantees for bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, saying it was near impossible to get medical supplies to hospitals.www.barrons.com
All discussion that I've read is that dual passport people leaving Gaza should go to the nearest Egypt airport and go home - no detours.Yes I believe they are, but I wonder if they then can cross from Egypt to Israel fairly easily? I'd say for sure US citizens could do this since we are on good terms with Israel and helping to negotiate the exit of these people from Gaza to Egypt.
I've been wondering that, also. What is going to happen when the IDF arrives at the hospital, where Hamas leaders, technology and munitions are under the hospital. There have been reports that Hamas militants patrol the floors of the hospital. That's the goal of the invasion, but hospital staff are not leaving, patients are not transported to safe zones. What does Hamas have planned for the staff and patients at the hospital?
At this time, with hospital staff, patients and civilians refusing to evacuate, and Hamas martyrs patrolling the buildings, it sounds like Hamas wants to turn it into a blood bath. Senior leaders will be long gone when that happens.I've been wondering that, also.
The Occupied Territories, which include the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, are subject to the jurisdiction of Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), with the division of responsibilities overlapping in much of the territory.<respectfully snipped>
The "occupying authorities have a special responsibility" to ensure that humanitarian aide reaches Hamas militant mass murderers in Northern Gaza, but Hamas Government does not? Hamas government controls the border with Egypt. Where is Hamas government taking the humanitarian aide and where is the "occupying authority" stopping the delivery of humanitarian aide to civilians?
There are no "occupying authorities" in Gaza. There is the Hamas Government, and the IDF invasion to eliminate murderers. The language of "occupying authorities" echoes Hamas militant messaging.
I don't believe that the IDF is interfering with the distribution of water, food and medicine. I don't believe that the UN is objective regarding public announcements. The UN announced 2 weeks ago that hospitals would run out of fuel within 24 hours. That was not true.
I enjoy watching the flight tracker for some reason. I notice that there is UK Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4 over the water off the coast of Israel. Also the US intel plane is looping over the water.

Edited to add that the fighter jet landed in Cyprus.
Probably (to both points). And guess who they'll blame it on...At this time, with hospital staff, patients and civilians refusing to evacuate, and Hamas martyrs patrolling the buildings, it sounds like Hamas wants to turn it into a blood bath. Senior leaders will be long gone when that happens.
