Great post Katie!

FWIW - if we don't respond to trolls they will eventually go away. I don't even read posts that have the word "but" in the first line.

I really appreciate all your informative posts.

Hey that's a smart little system you got goin there! Thanks! ;)

And thank you.

So I've the watched cross almost thrice now. And I watched a video about JM's previous case. I'm convinced this man is an absolute genius. He's a death-row experienced lawyer. He's put a woman like Jodi (a mother of 2 small children!) on death row. He knows exactly what he's doing. Jodi's arrogance and deceit on cross didn't take him by surprise. He expected no less from her. He wants the jury to see it all on cross, even his frustration. It's all part of his brilliant tactic.

Of course we (most of us) are amateurs so we may not be able to appreciate his style but if anyone knows his business and if anyone can convince the jury to convict Arias of first-degree murder it's Juan Martinez.

i have a dear friend whose sister was murdered last year by her ex-husband of EIGHT YEARS. messy, horrible divorce, lots of psychological abuse. obviously he had problems moving on, so to speak, and his brother convinced her to attend counseling with her ex. after 8 years, she thought it might help, and so she went.
rule was she got to leave the session 15 minutes ahead of him----but the last time, the counselor let him leave sooner because he thought things were going so well.
so he goes outside in the parking lot where she's getting in her car, and shoots her dead.

that's what counseling with a psychopath gets you.

So very sorry. :(

Maybe Alyce Laviolette will enlighten us all about how easy it would have been for Travis to excavate himself from that abusive relationship with his abuser Jodi Arias.

Alyce will be great to have. Just watching 'Why people hurt the ones they love'.
It seems to all come down to if one thinks before they act or act before they think. Two conditions that we all are capable of.

a clothing co hired jodi for one of their models, this was on the hln program last week. they said first she was very friendly, bubbly and enthusiastic, and then she became more aloof, she would work in the morning, but in the afternoon she wanted to go off by herself taking pictures. the guy interviewed said she had mentioned she was in a relationship and the guy wasn't treating her right, didn't say abuse just that he wasn't treating her right. just thinking out loud, isn't photography expensive?

Photography isn't expensive per se, but if you start buying multiple and nice lenses then yes it can be very expensive. Anyone with a camera can do photography--it doesn't require a ton of money. Especially now with digital photography, there's no more buying film and you don't have to have pics printed to see them.

However, if you start buying high end Canon or Nikon or a few others (esp. the lenses) then yah. $$$$$

The standing on the bench was how she found the gun "cleaning".
She jumped up on the shelf was how she retrieved the gun while being chased by Travis.

Thank you so much for clarifying this for me! I was pretty sure I heard that she had stood on a bench at some point.

Do you remember if her testimony about "standing on the bench" when she was cleaning was the same day she was discussing the actual event of getting the gun? (I only listened to the part of the actual shooting incident because that's where I thought she had stated the bench...)

TIA !!!

My hubby was listening with me when she testified to "jumping up on the shelf" to get the gun and thought it was hilarious, said he didn't think she'd fit up there, LOL...:rocker:

Talk about a shape shifter!!! Girl can supposedly leap like a flea - and shrink herself!!!

The whole going into the closet to get the gun story was so incredulous, that alone shows she was the aggressor - or she'd have kept on running! Duh.:banghead:

Do you suppose she had on her "Spiderman" undies?

He is the best Prosecutor I have ever seen and believe me I have seen way too many to count.

I understood perfectly why and how he did his cross. This ADA is one of the best Prosecutors in the state of Arizona and didnt get that way by not knowing what he is doing. He has been doing this for decades already putting another female just like JA on death row.

That is one of the reasons I refuse to watch the THs who dont have nearly his expertise nor wins he does. All I see is poor losers. However I do watch Joey Jackson and he is one of the fairest but the nightly shows I dont watch any of them. I remember how they criticized Rick Disasto night and day predicting Mark Garegos was going to win the SP case. Riiiiiight.:floorlaugh:

Juan came out and did just exactly what he should have done. He let her know right up front that the days of the Nurmi and Jodi show were over and he was in control of the questions........and not Ms. Sociopath like it had been for 8 boring days.

He dropped evidence left and right in his questions......and never on the same subject. He would never go chronoligically so that she could just keep stating the same old tired answers like she did in direct. She never knew from minute to minute what he was going to bring up. It was truly amazing how qucik his mind works and I was in such awe as I watched him take chunk after chunk out of her bs storey. He gave her a lot to think about as she sat in her cell this weekend. She has no clue what else is coming but she will. :D

And we have only begun. By the time he is through with Jodi we are going to know a heck of a lot more evidence he has in his arsenal that he is going to use to impeach her.

I loved the first day of cross and its going to be better and better as he piles the evidence on her like a house of bricks. She will have more than a hurt finger before he is through.

IMO

BBM. That is his best strategy, IMO. JA is soo scripted on everything she does. She has to be, to keep her story straight. She has it all worked out in her mind how the questioning with JM is going to go, and he is throwing curve ball after curve ball at her. She doesn't know how to answer, because she doesn't know where he is going with his questions.

If we are confused as to where he is going, then she must be as well. Bravo, JM! Way to handle a sociopath like JA. I really really think he knows what he is doing. IMO.

Heck, JM is so good he could have me admitting to someone's murder even if I had never met them and had never been in their state! I'd be putting up the white flag so fast his head would spin.

Idiot Gus Searcy was just on Geraldo Rivera show and said he warned Jody to stay away from Travis and that he was just using her etc. Geraldo said there were a lot of suport for Jody website out there. Ugh.
Oh and he said they would talk to Gus again. Didn't Gus say he was not a media hound? LOL

Geraldo and Gus...a match made in hell :banghead:

Life is just not that simple when one is dealing with a sociopath.

NO ONE can know the thoughts inside the mind of another person. Even if someone does all the right things to extricate themselves out of a relationship, if the other person is determined to kill and there's been no verbal or other indication they will or could, how could anyone know in advance?

Unless you arm yourself with an assault rifle and have yourself surrounded at all times by a contingent of bodyguards and only ride in a bulletproof vehicle, and live in a secured location where no one can get in, you are vulnerable sometime/somewhere. Sure, there are ways to reduce the risk, and there are some good ideas in Gavin DeBecker's books, but risks can only be reduced, not entirely removed.

I do not agree with this at all. I believe Travis realized he was in bed with a hot potatoe and knew this girl JA was one of a kind. Cold turkey and insults were not the answer.

Just wanted to note that when I saw up close last night Juan's last moment of the cross Thurs., I saw other pages in her journal dog eared with sticky notes. And that's just the one journal. Now that I think of it, the brown paper wrapped package of evidence I saw him carry might have been a stack of her journals. Oh yeah, there's way more of that coming. Love it when they impeach themselves.

I am so so sorry for the death of dear friend's sister!!! I am not so sure I would have couple's counseling just MHO with a history of abuse in the marriage - individual session with them on separate days.

As an retired addiction specialist, I have seen too much abuse due to alcohol and drugs. I wouldn't advocate the abuse spouse staying in the house unless: 1) they have a safety plan to leave; 2) have any session with abuser with the abused victim. NEVER!

That is just how I did things.. in my humble experience and practice.

So what was the answer?

I would love to watch the part of Juan's cross that dealt with the magazine. Can someone give me an idea as to what part of the day this happened. That was Thursday, this is Sunday, and I can't even remember what I ordered at Starbucks yesterday much less when this questioning happened on Thursday LOL

It was toward the end of the day ..hope that helps. Almost to the end.

Cant wait to see the entries for May & June 2008 ...

Travis had issues himself. He would have known she was a time bomb, at the very least after the slashed tires. That's a giant red flag. That he kept seeing her even after that was an unhealthy choice.

Yes he did. And his "issues" or "vulnerabilities" are just what magnetized this sociopath to him. They immediately size up their target's weaknesses and slide right through them so seamlessly , the target never sees it coming. Their aim is to disarm which she did masterfully with Travis.

And he kept seeing her, I suspect, because she kept disarming him even against his own better judgment.

I had to read my sister's journals on the witness stand which were full of her confusion and uncertainty. And mistrust. Yet she stayed right with him up to the minute he took her in to the desert and slashed her throat.

She was a smart person, held a Master's degree, was raised like me by a Psychologist father. Sadly she had just entered counseling to try and sort out some of her own issues when she was killed.

This is a manifestation of the evil manipulative power of a sociopath. I'm convinced what's going on there is far beyond the realm of typical psychological dynamics.
