She bought this gas (I believe) before she allegedly called Travis to tell him she was going to his house (I say allegedly because I don't think he had any idea she was on her way to his house). So she wanted to make it look like she was NEVER in Arizona.

Sure - there are lots of Arco (AM/PM) stations in California where you can pre-pay with cash at an outside machine - never need to go inside, even to pre-pay.
