If you go back to the testimony of the police officer who pulled her over, he said that someone pulled up ahead of them and seemed to be waiting or watching what JA and the police officer were doing.

That was Ryan Burns who was ahead of her when she got pulled over in Utah.

Thank you a billion times. That article is very good. Someday, it will explain a lot to the kids as they (or at least one) become adults. Some day - we just try to never talk about the bad stuff or the other parent and step parent and horrible child.

People like Jodi are out there and they are scary. Never underestimate them. If they EVER threaten you, believe it.

Hi folks.

I had a question that is confusing me.

Today, (Wednesday) during the cross regarding which camera was used to make a video.

Mr. Martinez's questioned her as to the whether or not she could use his camera to make a video.

Jodi replied, with a yes, that they got his camera but couldn't use it.

Mr. Martinez then (basically) questioned her on how she had stated before that she had said that she couldn't use it then, but today she was saying she could use it, and then changed her statement again, saying she couldn't.

(sorry, this may come across as confusing, which is why I am confused)

Now, she tried to explain that they (Travis/Jodi) could use the camera, but couldn't use it because she couldn't figure out HOW to use it, therefore couldn't (didn't) use it.

Mr. Martinez, (I believe) mistook this has it was totally unable to be used at all. (i.e. it wasn't in the room, unavailable, put away, etc.)

If anyone can decipher this. I rewatched this segment today, and that is how I interpreted it.

She couldn't use it because she couldn't figure it out, not that it wasn't available to use.

IIRC during her "direct" Jodi said they couldn't figure out how to use the "timer function" on Travis' new camera. But now you've got me wondering if it was the "video function" because, according to her, they wanted to video themselves having sex. Sorry, maybe I've just muddied the waters even more. :waitasec:

Hello everyone,

I've been an observer for a while, and recently decided to officially join. I just want to say you guys are all great, and I love reading what you have to say. Anyhow, I am currently a student, and my practicum work is with the domestic violence victim services unit in my city. I am by no means an expert on domestic violence but, I am often exposed to survivors, as well as the offenders. Initially, when I heard of this trial I felt bad for Jodi, I believed her to be a victim of abuse. One of the many things that changed my mind is the way she constantly says that she did things for Travis' EGO, to make him feel better as opposed to her doing things out of fear and in order to avoid a confrontation which would lead to abuse. I do believe her abuse theory to be a fabrication, very strongly because of this. Does anyone else pick up on this? What are your thoughts? Do any of you believe she was abused?

Jodi has been very exploitative of the domestic violence defense and is working very hard to frame her story behind real abuse pathology. Dr. Daniela described it as "textbook." I feel bad for domestic violence victims who's stories are being exploited and cheapened because the scenarios she tries to play can exist (a suave well loved person with an abusive side, just one example), but it's just horse manure in this case and she's taking everyone under the bus with her it seems. (And thank you for your input with your experience!)

You're very right about saying she did things to appease Travis' ego, there was no direct threat prompting or demanding this behavior. She did these things, although she refuses to acknowledge it, because she wanted him. This is desire, not a selfless act for his benefit, or to calm a threat that was over the phone and not there, she did it to gain something (him). Although I don't believe her claim entirely anyway about his "needs" because he didn't seem to respond in with the same level of enthusiasm to the flattery and I believe it's because he wasn't that "into her" and the gushing is pretty over the top.

I can't sleep so felt the need to write something that was on my mind.

I think it was Katiecool that brought up in a post about Travis' bedroom photos, about how they showed what a beautiful home he had, how near perfect and neat it was, and how this was rather special in the case of a single man his age, and considering his background, etc.

This just got me to thinking, about Travis in general, and everything we have heard from all those who knew him. I mean, all we have heard is what a special person he was, even JA said that very thing in the 48 hour interview. How when he walked in he lit up the room, everyone loved him.

JA became obsessed with him for all of those very reasons. I think she envied and coveted all that he had, and who he was, and that he had such a bright future ahead of him. She wanted all of that for herself. And she was so shallow she believed that sex would be enough to get it. It was not only a tool to entice and ensnare, but to corrupt and bring him down to her level. I think she gained satisfaction from doing that and she thought she would have a better chance if he weren't so "good".

Her tactics weren't enough and as we know, he still came to the decision that he didn't want JA in his life. Leaving her with knowing that what she coveted more than anything else at any time in her entire life could never, would never be hers. So his rejection of her, and what that implied, that she wasn't good enough for him, is what she couldn't live with. I believe she was completely enraged by this. Just like the evil forces in the world want to destroy what is good, JA in an evil act of wrath and revenge, destroyed Travis, who was good. What a shame she had to do away with him, instead of herself.

JM was asking her about what they did after they were finished with sex. She said they ate some lunch, she took a shower, then Travis took a shower (we've seen the photos).

I understood JM to ask if she had taken that after-lunch shower in the stall where she LATER dragged and left Travis' body and she sheepishly said "yes". I was sure he was asking about a shower before she killed him.

It is really fascinating to see him dig into her.

I really hate when I can't sleep. Literally been up all night and then something else nagged at me from this darned case - Why would you run off and grab a gun, for self defense, that you didn't know would be loaded? She said when she found the gun the first time, it wasn't loaded right? I also was confused about her saying that she never saw her grandfathers gun, but didn't she say it looked like a toy? I am so confused, but maybe it's because I am delirious.

Oh, yea... That was something else I was thinking about earlier. I said that he need to put together a video showing her lying during her TV interviews and play them next to clips from her testifying during this trial and ask how they are to tell when she is lying or telling the truth when it all looks the same.

She doesn't change inflection in her voice, her expressions are the same, it takes no effort for her to lie, she knows when she's supposed to "look sad," etc. I, for one, am not one to try to figure out when a pathological liar is lying. If you usually lie, then I am going to assume that you are always lying. :liar:
