Flores: Recovered kitchen knives...a set, a block...we could not determine if they were the ones used or not.

is DT going with the intruder theory? He is asking if the knife was found in the neighbor's yard??? (asking how far they searched for the knife)

Good Lord...where is he going with this??He has already asked all this the other day.:waitasec:

i don't think so - they merandized her each time so she knew she could but didn't ask for one
Just jumping off your post...

The detective asked her several times if she wanted to end it and leave. No way in heck does her blabbing in the interview hurt the prosecution. JMO

Im very confused. Are we going back to the intruder theory :waitasec:

This crap seems like smoke and mirrors to me. Distract the jurors from the pertinant info with this garbage. Is he going to question the producers of Inside Edition and 48 Hours as to their interrogation techniques as well? This is painfully laborious.

I agree. I think he's trying to make it look like the detective did something unethical when he actually didn't.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum. Butt (lol), she is a planner. She dyes her hair. She steals a gun. She gets a car that is one of a billion.

She stabs him first?

TA looks like quite a beefy guy. She is small. And we have seen she does not have a six pack.

I would shoot someone. Trying to stab a huge guy makes no sense to me.

It does make sense that she shot him first and the gun jammed . Then she took the time to get a knife from somewhere.

The knife makes no sense in light of all of her other planning

I agree. I just do not see her as someone who would go toe to toe with him. She isnt that brave. I think she had to. The gun could have had problems or she may have not known how to operate the safety and so she held the gun up and then it didnt work but she had to kill him or he would have her arrested. Maybe she grabbed his straight razor and the fight started, who knows but I just dont see her planning to go at him with a knife with him being awake.
Why steal a gun that can be traced if she is just going to hack him up?

something is just off.

I wonder if he was trained in the Reid technique

http://www.reid.com/

There was nothing at all coercive about his interrogation IMO. There is nothing at all for defense to work with here.

BTW, I am a lawyer and I have seen others talk about getting "verified" - I don't know how to go about that with the mods, but I'm certainly willing to submit my creds confidentially.

How can he asked this on cross? This wasn't discussed during direct. DA gets to go all the way back ?

She is loving all the talk and attention surronding her IMO

Doesn't it show that she was not understanding the enormity of her situation? Not sure thats a legal argument.
Not if she is also found fit to stand trial. (She was mirandized on video...there really is NO backtracking from that one.) JMO

DA questioning Det . . re: 6/15/08 interview w/JA . . . re: TA portraying himself a certain way . . . they kept their relationship hidden from everyone else . . . talked about "you had made the comment . . .. OBJECTION - Approach.

A few days back comment to JA about "you were just going there to have a good time and something got out of hand" . . .then talked about interview/interrogation techniques - trained in them (same thing) - some courses are labeled interview others are interrogation.

When he first became a Det - he took 30 hr basic course and later he took a more advanced 12 hr interview/interrogation course. In the academy there are basic courses on how to contact and interview people.

DA alleges there is a differences in interview w/witness vs. interrogation w/supect of a crime - yes.

These techniques are different in types of interview vs. interrogation - a little different because of the nature of what they are . . . . witness vs suspect - is there concern that suspect is going to be a little less (upfront?) with info -

what specific techniques . . . in every case it is different - sometimes you say I know your fingerprints were there and maybe they really weren't there.

Maybe you were going to there to have a good time and something got out of hand - it is a "theme" technique - after you get to know their lifestyle.

Mr. Alexander portraying himself a different way - he was trying to play on her emotions - he didn't see her as emotional - he was hoping to play on her emotions.

JA told him about intruders - in terms of interrogation of suspects - trained on indicators of deception ... certain things people do when deceptive - they turn away, play with clothes alot, other indicators.

He has conducted "hundreds or thousands" of interrogations over the years. Indicators of deception - non-verbal indicators. Are there verbal indicators? Could be . . . .

Based on training and experience - when people lie is there generally speaking do they throw a little truth in there to make lie be more beliveable - it has to be plausable - or believable. . . . Det job is to sort out some of that

Discussion about attempting to find a handgun - were there knives recovered @ Alexander home? yes - kitchen knives - several - there was a kitchen block - there were knives in the dishwasher - they could not determine if they were the ones used in the murder.

The yard and all around residence in and out was searched - didn't have anywhere to go in the neighborhood but everything in immediate area was searched.

On 6/15 they had a fairly complete investigation up to that point . . . one video centered around a period of time when he and JA talking about her move to Mesa. In that video she made a comment to the effect that Travis told her they could still hang out. . . . did hang out mean a code for having sex? . . . don't remember

tape cut off right off at the time when JA was talking about Travis and Lisa - Det. doesn't recall that specific . . . .

Exhibit #351 refresh recollection? sure.

Jurors are sitting there waiting for the PA to get to the point, arghhhhhh!

It has been said they Mirandized her multiple times, so I doubt it. Boy was JA stupid to sit there and talk. Stupid isn't even the right word. I can't imagine trying to (what I view as) "bond" with the detective over all that time when he's telling me "we know you did it".

another sign how smart she thinks she is.

this reminds me of something else----one of the DA's this morning said that when flores told her 'i don't believe you planned this', he gave the defense a gift and that they could use that. but he didn't. that's just a technique, like telling someone 'man, i can see why you wanted to kill him....he pushed you to the edge' is a technique.
doesn't mean it's the truth.
