The kind you put a double sided razor blade in?

I have one of those!

To me, it looked like a Gillette Mach 3 type of razor. I remember reading (in Jen's blog) about some joke they had re: Mach 3/4's. Pretty sure this was in the same entry she mentioned his man-scaping.

Hi, DizzyChick. I'm no Mormon, but I love early New York State history, so I will comment. In his Words of Wisdom, Smith effectively banned tobacco, alcohol, and hot drinks (presumably coffee and tea as well as that hot toddy). After his death, his church extended that prohibition to cover caffeinated drinks as well. Alcoholism was rampant in early 19th century America which might have been a partial reason for that canonical ban.

that makes sense so i guess they are all correct. Thanks for the reply i always wondered why so many different stories.

I know they are striving to be Christ like so in their belief if you smoke or drink you will not be as close to God as you could be if you avoid those vices.

THANK YOU! This exactly. He somehow was already bleeding either from the stab wound to the heart, or any of the other 28 stab wounds, or the throat slitting take your pick. But Travis was already bleeding when the shell casing was released by the gunshot.

The whole thing took 1:15 blood does not dry quite that quick for the amount there.

I'm all confused (what else is new) what was the sequencing? Stabbing first?
''

The ME testified that in his opinion, TA was first stabbed in the heart, fought back while still able to, thus getting his hands cut with defensive wounds, then had his throat cut, which incapacitated him within minutes, and then was shot in the head.

They argued (ME and defense) about whether he could state this as fact. He cannot state it as fact, rather as his professional expert opinion only, because he wasn't present at the crime. He based his opinion on the nature and severity of the wounds and which ones, in his opinion, were incapacitating.

There was controversy about the shot to the head being incapacitating. The ME was adamant that it was.

and this is exactly how I believe it happened. JMO

Just a side note about mormoms and drinking caffine, liquor. My hubby introduced his brother to the faith and he bacame a mormom priest he has a temple reccomend but what I find baffling is they dont all seem to have the same info regarding what Joseph Smith taught on these subjects.

My brother in law told me there was a " hot toddy" back in those days that Smith said to avoid obviously for health reasons and it would get you drunk. my hubby said it was all alcohol. My aunt a devout 80ish year old mormom said all caffinated drinks are what he said to avoid cause if your body is working correctly you dont need caffine and it is addicting.

I have to have a pot of coffee so im out forever doomed to live down the street from Jesus instead of in his house.

Hey dizzychick, I sometimes worry about living in a totally different area code from Jesus :what:.

What are the odds that all the jurors are following the rules? I just don't know if that's possible in today's communication environment.

I was a juror on a federal case in the 70's that made the three big networks every night for the three weeks the trial lasted. We were not sequestered and I obeyed the rules (had DH save all the newspaper clippings for me to read afterward).

BTW: If I'd read about that case it well might have changed my vote from ng to guilty.

I don't understand why they aren't being sequestered.

BBM.

And the bullet went THROUGH the brain. So I can see why it would be incapacitating.

oh, and another one of my personal theories on why she shot him: i think she reacted to after-death sounds and thought he was still alive. like gurgling from that severed trachea or something like that.

Hi, KsCornFed. I think that you are exactly right. Someone once told me that nurses and other medical personnel in training are sometimes traumatized by post-death gurgling and physical jolts.

I'm a little embarrassed to write that once after I effectively killed a basement mouse, I was taken aback by his violent twitching and final gasp. To this day, I have never told my kind-hearted girlfriend about this incident.

that is what solidified it for me (not sure where the picture is however.. I am sure it is somewhere either on the huffpo link or in the timeline thread)

think it was posted somewhere today....don't know where ----

It wouldn't shock me. They interviewed Maureen Maher on IS and she said that she was surprised that Jodi brought it up on her own. It kind of reeks of a set up.

I would have been mortified about the pictures the dec was showing her.....thats just me....:blushing:

i'm a nurse as i know many here are. fresh dead bodies can be pretty noisy, actually.

:seeya:

Sorry if this has been addressed, but does anyone know why the 48 Hours interview with JA (entitled "Picture Perfect"--ewww...that has a HOLE new meaning now, lol) is not available ANYWHERE on the internet?

All of the other 48 Hours episodes are available for viewing on YouTube and the 48 Hours site as well. It's as if it is specifically left out. At first I thought perhaps because of the pending trial, but many of those episodes deal with crimes with pending trials. Just curious. TIA!
