Hi all, I am new here and would like to give my two cents on the JBR case that has become quite an obsession for me in recent years. I did not follow the case back in 1996 because I had just got married and had other things on my mind, but recently I have taken an interest in it and am trying to collect as much info as I can. This case is so complicated and multi-layered that I doubt I will ever read or watch or listen to everything that is available.
The Netfilx series was not very satisfactory for me because it was all about the family DIDN’T do it. Of course I am not convinced the family DID do it either, but the show was too one-sided for me. On the contrary, I would recommend a very interesting and detailed podcast called “A normal family”, that explains a different perspective in each episode: JDI, PDI, BDI, IDI. The outlook is impartial and well documented and gives a lot of food for thought.

My theory is still different though, and it seems to me hardly anybody has ever expounded on it. Has the possibility of some erotic play gone awry ever been taken into consideration? This would explain the unknown DNA on JB’s clothes, the garotte and the alleged SA with the paintbrush. I don’t think anybody in the family abused her, but maybe someone close to them did, someone to whom they could not say no, such as a business associate or boss or client of JR’s … or some prominent figure in politics, or in a position of power in those obscene beauty pageants the poor child was taking part in **. It would not be unheard of … Or perhaps some friend of BR’s, maybe a few years older than him? Or some friend of the family?
In this scenario, the Rs would be accomplices and not perpetrators, and it would be to their best interests to keep things quiet and throw off the investigators with red herrings such as the ransom note. Or even more likely, the police might have been warned beforehand and instructed to cover everything up because some big names were involved and must not appear at all costs. The whole investigation was botched from the start by an amazingly bad handling of the crime scene and the clues, and the LE people seemed so much at a loss that it all looked a bit over the top, like something staged.
This theory would also explain why nothing substantial has ever come up in all these years to turn around the investigation. My feeling is that somebody in the powers that be is calling the shots in this case.
Obviously, I have no proof or evidence to back up all this, JMO and MOO. Thanks to anyone who comments on this, many of you are so well acquainted with the case and so well informed that I am raring to hear your points!

** I am not from the USA, in my culture dressing a little girl up like a (sexy) doll and make her perform for an adult audience is not deemed appropriate and would surely attract all sorts of seedy characters, paedophiles and the likes. Maybe in the US these pageants are considered perfectly normal instead, please feel free to correct me if I am misled on this.

I can buy it just as I can many other theories. But, just like the countless other theories, it lacks any substantial proof

just can’t see JR & PR covering up the killing of their daughter for a friend / associate etc .

Like you, I was busy in 1996 working 2 jobs plus going to college and I wasn't able to follow this case. It's quite complex yet it seems so simple. They were all home. Happened in their home. They found her. I cannot believe that the police had no idea how to conduct a proper investigation of this nature. I don't care if they aren't used to it or not, it seems bizarre how much common sense was lacking.
I am American and a revert Muslim. Unfortunately these parents are fairly normal but they have become a bit more conservative over the years. I feel it welcomes unwanted problems but little girls swim in bikini bathing suits at the beach as well. It's a different mindset.
I cannot wrap my mind around this story. I wish they would solve it already.

A Ramsey did it - it will never be solved
