New article in this morning's Wichita Eagle:

SRS to Review Contacts with Adam Herrman

A couple of interesting things:

In 1996 Adam spent 2 days in the Wichita Children's Home before being returned to the Herrmans.

I was pretty sure this was the case here for Homeschool kids, but I wanted to be sure...

Our local NBC affiliate has an article stating that the Sheriff is trying to make people understand that they don't have anything to hold the Herrmans on yet and to be patient. Apparently the office is being inundated with calls and letters.

Well that's my early morning report :)

Someone is going to make their political career by trying to shut the barn door now that the horse is gone....

Alrighty then.

This case breaks my heart. That poor little boy. Unfortunately, I don't think at 11 he was able to run away and make a new life for himself.
I am so afraid these people killed him and might get away with it because so much time has passed. At least they should be able to get them for fraud, and surely child neglect, endangerment, etc. I hope the prosecutor is pulling up every law in the state relating to this that they can charge these people on.

I agree, I think she filed for homeschooling to stop the school asking where he was.
And that Article that you pointed out Suzi is disgraceful isn't it, what an inconvenience all these missing people are  seriously how on earth can someone put something like that in writing in a newspaper !! Does he want everyone to throw eggs at him !

Lanie sadly I agree I don't think he could run away and survive not at 11...

Now this is how you do it. The paper published missing kids website links and suggested people take a look. Kudos to the Wichita Eagle! ETA: it was very interesting to see such contrasting articles back to back.

Why you'd want it: With national interest in the Butler County Sheriff's Office investigation of Adam Herrman, recently reported missing since 1999, you might want to learn more about other missing children.

I love our paper and I love Wichita...

Today they are searching and digging at the site of the shed. The shed has been removed. Students from Wichita State with our resident anthropologist is on site.
Click here for the Eagle newspaper.. one of the reporters is doing a twitter as they are on site!

Thanks for the heads up!

Sleuthing takes me online all over the country. As a result I have my favorite news outlets. The Eagle is one of my favs. I started reading them back in the BTK days.

Whoa, from the twitter posts:

Dig focused on specific area. Investigator just held up piece of plastic sheeting pulled out of dirt. Evidence bags brought out. about 3 hours ago from twitterrific

Although details are not being released, Sheriff Craig Murphy says that investigators are acting on information received from an out-of-state source. Murphy said the tip referenced suspicious activity at the site of the dig.
Authorities say they have found no human remains while digging at the mobile home park where a missing Kansas boy once lived.

But Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said Wednesday that authorities have found something connected to the investigation, although he would not elaborate.

Update: Officials confirm they are looking for the remains of Adam Herrman.

Our crews have seen them pull items out of the hole, one that resembled a plastic bag, and set it aside.
The sheriff confirms they have found items in the hole, but haven't said whether they're significant yet.

ETA: there are raw videos at the above link

It seems like every week we're hearing of a parent (whether biological or adoptive) murdering or abusing their children. It makes me angry and sick to watch the video. How can someone not only harm their child but bury them in the yard like you do a family pet?

I hope these people get what's coming to them and that if Adam is gone that he is laid to rest in peace.

The reporter that is twittering from the scene is reporting that the hole has been filled back in and "no sign of Adam".

What has changed that they know he is dead now? Did they get a confession?

I was so hoping this was the find that would bring closure.

The sheriff is saying they found some "things" related to the "answer" they received at the first dig... Couldn't really be more vague.
I don't know that they "know" he's dead so much as the "remains" thing was probably more of an answer to why they are digging up the back yard.

It appears that LE are finding things. They just aren't finding Adam himself.

Officials dug in the same lot where the Herrman's trailer used to sit with a backhoe beginning at around 9:30 a.m. Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said no human remains were found, but some items of interest were discovered that are in some way related to the "answer" authorities got during their search two weeks ago. Those items will be taken in to be examined.

My bold and italics...the adoptive parents are out of state aren't they? I guess this just looks like a confession to me....:(

No the adoptive parents live in Derby, Kansas about 30-40 miles from their old house in Towanda. I'm guessing the out of state source would be someone who used to live in the park.

thank you!

It is the birth parents who both live out of state. Mom in Colorado and dad in Indiana I think it is... both locations are given in the news articles on kwch.com or Kansas.com. More than likely, though, it may be a relative or former resident of the mobile home park that would have observed any activity around the shed that they found questionable.

thank you!

No problem! There are lots of people to try to keep straight in this mess! I wish there was a confession...but I don't think they've even really had a true interrogation by the police yet.
