I think the mother died in childbirth and she may have been illegal, from the videos and their fear of government/cps
Since he grabbed a jug of urine I wonder if it was feces in the cooler, that he did not want to leave any DNA to show it was them that had been in the rental unit.
I also wonder who called the police.
I could not find anything on the wife being reported missing.
I did notice a comment on one of his SM accounts, asking if the remains were " Jess"

Who would report her missing if he didn't? At least somebody thankfully call the police, because I doubt this guy would have been able to take care of two small children.

Well I was wondering if she had parents or siblings, who had not seen her or had contact with her

From the msm reports, a UHaul worker called police for a wellbeing check because he/she believed someone was living in the unit.I've seen no reports of family from either parent. I haven't found any other missing person report other than the one linked earlier here about Jessica. I think the current investigators entered here into a database but I don' t know that as fact.

Human remains found in Lenexa unit identified by family, reports say

Days after human remains were found in a Lenexa storage unit, family members have identified the victim as a woman named Jessica Monteiro Rey, according to local media reports.

Fox 4 reported Monday night that Jessica Monteiro Rey was married to Justin Todd Rey. The two had a toddler and a five-day-old baby, the report said.

In a separate report Monday, family members in California told KSHB that police notified them last week of the death and that Jessica Monteiro Rey’s remains were identified by her fingerprints. The family members said the victim was in her early 30s.

:( RIP Jessica :rose:

This is all just so sad. I hope the babies are adjusting well. I feel such sadness for them.

So the baby was 5 days old when found? He was posting on FB till the 20th correct?
I wonder where she gave birth? Storage room?
Personally ( no clue though really) I feel she died in childbirth. Jmo. I hope so. (That sounds horrible but you know what I mean)

"

There's no indication of her being illegal. In fact, the opposite since there are numerous videos posted of her interacting with CPS in California.

While there, officers discovered human remains, in several pieces inside a cooler.

A witness told WDAF he and his wife met Justin Rey at a restaurant the day police arrested him. Rey told them he’d lost his wife in childbirth and was trying to take his daughters home to Arizona. The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, agreed to take Rey to Union Station to catch a passenger train, but they first stopped at Rey’s storage unit to pick up what he needed for the trip.

Once there, the witness said he noticed Rey pulling a cooler that was leaking a trail of brown liquid. As they were leaving the U-Haul facility, Lenexa police showed up and took Rey into custody on suspicion of child endangerment...

Jessica’s family isn’t sure if she died in childbirth, which is what her husband allegedly told the witness. They believe she gave birth at a motel in Missouri.

Are the two babies with family now? What happened here. Jessica appears to have a support system.

Again... wait, what?

That doesn't seem like she died in childbirth, even though that's the way I'm thinking.

I don't know, I suppose it's possible that she died in childbirth and then Justin was so mentally ill he thought it would be a good idea to dismember and hide her body and go on the run with the children.

That hotel room must have been a horrific mess.

Snipped from your quote:

The family members said the victim was in her early 30s.

Does the word 'victim' imply she was murdered? If she had died in childbirth would they have used this word?

RIP Jessica. So sad for the children.

I am guessing they don't know how she died yet. But considering body was found in pieces inside the cooler, using "victim" to describe her seems perfectly appropriate. And if she was giving birth in a motel, without medical help, wouldn't she still be a victim if she died during birth?

Most people would cut up the body in the bathroom (bathtub) so they can wash away the blood. Otherwise I presume hotel would have reported a large amount of blood found in the room?

I presume since there was no hotel or motel reporting suspicious blood, she must have been dismembered else where. imo
