But while your phone is off, there will be no pings. Unless you have some NSA spyware on your phone, then it would be possible to continue connectivity. Or if you have a “sleep” mode on your phone which resumes network connectivity. When powered off, my phone is completely off with no network connectivity. Same would go for airplane mode; which would cut off all of your network connectivity as well.

Having said that, Apple has an ingenious idea that would continue to track your phone after being shut down. Basically how it works is, if someone steals your phone and tries to shut it down, they will be prompted to enter your security code. If the security code is entered incorrectly, the phone will go into a "zombie" mode whereby it appears to be powered down, but it's still transmitting its location to the "Find my iPhone" app to help you recover your stolen phone.

Pretty neat idea!

I'm watching CBC Toronto's 6.00 pm news and Shannon Martin revealed that on July 4th, the iPad was connected to the internet through DM's computer and renamed "Mark's Computer". This important information wasn't in her twitter feed this afternoon, that I saw.

WOW... This feels almost like the cocky move of DM putting TB's truck keys on his own key ring. The day after LB is allegedly murdered by these two guys and they are renaming her iPad as Mark's already?? So bizarre.

Here is a link to Thursday's CBC Toronto's news broadcast in which Shannon Martin discusses the LB trial testimony. It starts just after the four minute mark. After about the 6.15 minute mark, SM says that the iPad was renamed to Mark's iPad at 10.43 am on July 4th. SM does not give a source for her statement.

Maybe DM was savvy enough to realize that LB's phone could be providing a cookie crumb trail to where her body was going, and so he pitched it? Maybe MS was even savvier to know to take the battery out of his own phone? (or maybe he wasn't even there at the time when the body and phone were traveling with DM?)

He wasn't savvy for Tim. I doubt he was savvy before then. MS is another matter.

Hmm, just came across this article.. which suggests that talk between DM and Iisho about the purchase of a gun, occurred in Feb 2012, which would match the purported time when CN was in a tizzy about LB saying she had slept with her dear boyfriend within the past couple of weeks:

"The jury was not allowed to see a February 2012 text exchange between Millard and Iisho (Matthew Ward Jackson), who the Crown alleges sold Millard the German-made Walther PPK murder weapon. The text implies Millard intended to use it to commit a crime and Iisho would be able to make the gun untraceable.

If DM (and possibly CN) was planning on doing away with LB way back in Feb 2012, why did it take him another 4.5 months to get the job done? What was LB up to during March through mid-June? Was she leaving DM alone, and so he wasn't worried any more about getting rid of her? Or was he waiting for the right set of circumstances? Or... ? Thoughts?

Don't know but he was planning to use the gun for someone. IMO

I personally think the gun was for someone else's murder. DM sucks at planning. If he got the gun in feb he would probably kill her the same day and then frantically try to cover his tracks on the fly like he tends to do. Not wait 5 months. Unless he was gonna do it in feb but CN or someone talked him out of it. Or maybe the gun was for dad and that got postponed.

Also wondering why she'd phone, she'd usually text someone she knew well, I'd think.

This may be stretching it, but perhaps it was DM making the phone calls. He couldn't text because the person receiving the text would probably know it wasn't LB by the way she spoke. Everyone has their own way of speaking, I think it would be a giveaway if he pretended to be her, so he used the phone call instead.

On the other hand, many witnesses have said that LB would have long conversations with them on the phone, so who knows.

I know Shannon Martin hasn't been too thorough with her tweets in the trial but today would have been so info and detail heavy that I can't blame her for not being able to tweet most of it. I remember back in the TB trial, on the day the similar kind of data heavy phone ping info was being talked about in court, a few reporters basically flat out said this is very detail-oriented data and it would be impossible to try get most of it tweeted out accurately.

It sounds like stacks of papers were given to each juror today so can you imagine trying to tweet that much out and keep it accurate at the same time?

Maybe his plan to get rid of Dad was foremost on his mind when other opportunities presented first. Very versatile tool, a gun.

The rap? Means nothing. Just some punk trying to be cool.
The cell pings? And? They hung out and she left.
Mark's ipad? Sold it to him for 100 bucks.
No more cell activity? Got a new one

Let's see some real evidence. Not sure if all this circumstantial evidence will cut it.

During the TB trial, wasn't the retrieval of TB's phone one of the times when DM was making faces at MS.. (same as when they spoke of the gun casing being found in TB's truck).. which indicated that he was, through body language, trying to say that it was MS that made those grave errors in judgement? But yet.. it did seem that MS was more savvy about NOT using his phone during that evening.. (unless it truly had gone dead?)... in any case, it was just a thought as to why DM would bother ditching the phone on the way, instead of just burning it along with the body. Unfortunately, we'll never know for sure. (which truly sucks)

I figured they may have gone downtown.. but who knows.. there are lakes in Waterloo area too.. or it could've been a puddle and he just called it a lake for rhyming purposes?

I think Lake Ontario is more likely, however, the Grand River runs fairly close to both the farm and the hangar, I believe.
