Jail not concerned Aaron Hernandez’s tattoos are gang-related

Hernandez placed in an isolated cell away from the general population

When Aaron Hernandez was taken into custody last week, there was some concern that his tattoos might put him at jeopardy in jail. Apparently they have determined that concerns about Hernandez’s gang affiliations were overblown.

TMZ reported today that Hernandez underwent an evaluation and the jail decided to place him in an isolated cell away from the general population to protect him from potential harm.

Hernandez denies gang ties

Jail authorities have scoured the arms and torso of Aaron Hernandez in search of tattoos that would suggest gang affiliations. They’ve found none yet, which apparently was no surprise to Hernandez.

According to Christine McConville of the Boston Herald, Hernandez has denied having any gang affiliations.

.

In the report obtained by the Wall Street Journal, the incident happened in May 2007, months after Hernandez enrolled at the University of Florida. The report says a waitress delivered two alcoholic drinks to Hernandez, he drank them both, and when another male server brought the bill, Hernandez refused to pay saying he never ordered the drinks.

That turned into a verbal fight between Hernandez and that server. Hernandez was told to leave, and was eventually escorted out of the restaurant. Moments later, outside the restaurant, the verbal fight that started inside became physical and Hernandez apparently punched the server in the side of the head. The punch was hard enough his eardrum burst.

That's where the story gets fishy. The police department in Gainesville, Fla. recommended the charge of felony battery, a penalty of five years in prison for that charge, but Hernandez was never charged.

And, just so we don’t start writing a story that accepts anything that sounds like a Hallmark card: Some of my questions for Aaron’s mother Terri would relate to whether Aaron’s dad really was such a positive influence on her son.

Here's a somewhat brief story about his Dad:

Aaron Hernandez grew up in the hills of Bristol, Conn., on a tidy tree-lined street called Greystone Avenue. His dad, Dennis, was a custodian (he briefly worked at ESPN in the early 1980s as a janitor and in the film library); his mom, Terri, a school secretary. In his younger days, Dennis Hernandez was a sports legend around Bristol. He lettered in football at UConn in 1976, and then decades later, his oldest son D.J., a quarterback, became a Husky, too. But neither of them was as accomplished as Aaron.

Bob Montgomery, a longtime sportswriter for the Bristol Press, said the younger Hernandez was the "pride and joy" of the suburban city of 60,000, the biggest star ever to come out of Bristol. Whenever Aaron would be named athlete of the week -- it happened often -- Dennis would accompany his son to the newspaper for the interview, beaming with love.

When Aaron was 16, his dad went into the hospital for what was supposed to be a routine hernia surgery. He died from complications resulting from the operation. He was 49. In multiple interviews with people close to Hernandez, all of them have pointed to that day, Jan. 6, 2006, as the moment that changed his life.

Hernandez became quieter, showed less emotion. He would zone out and brood. He had planned to go to UConn, then changed course and committed to Florida. John Hevesy, who became his position coach in Gainesville, said it was one of his toughest recruiting jobs because Hernandez was in the middle of dealing with his father's death. Ultimately, he wonders if Hernandez left his home state because he wanted to escape the memories and grief. He graduated from Bristol Central a semester early, shortly after his 17th birthday, and bolted for college.

Hevesy, who was Florida's offensive line and tight ends coach at the time, became sort of a surrogate father to Hernandez.

"I think he's still 17 years old at times," said Hevesy, now an assistant at Mississippi State. "You always hear of those people who never really mourned a death; they never cried. I think that's him. I can't remember him breaking down and saying, 'My dad died.' I don't think he ever had his dad help him finish growing up."

Authorities are again asking for the public’s help in locating a piece of a car mirror connected to the killing of Odin L. Lloyd.

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...n-hernandez/0mRIWX9X2bbeKOesVYKCjK/story.html

Authorities asked the public to look for the mirror along the route the four men traveled that morning.

“This mirror maybe found in a wooded or secluded area, somewhere close to the route from Fayston Street in Boston down Route [Interstate] 95, to Ronald C. Meyer Drive in North Attleboro,’’ officials wrote.

Aaron Hernandez was involved in a domestic incident with his fiancée a year ago that sent cops racing to his rental home in a beachside community in L.A. ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us Hernandez was renting a place in Hermosa Beach in June, 2012, when a neighbor called police to report a domestic disturbance -- "fighting" -- between the ex-Patriots star and his fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins inside his home.

We're told when police arrived, Jenkins said she was ok and didn't want to press charges so they left without making an arrest.

Law enforcement sources also tell us ... cops came to the house several other times after neighbors made noise complaints. One source says Hernandez "acted like an *advertiser censored**hole" when cops responded.

Our sources say Hernandez still has the rental home. Our law enforcement sources say so far ... cops have not obtained a warrant to search the apartment.

Tim Tebow attempted to keep Aaron Hernandez out of trouble during a 2007 bar squabble while both were playing at the University of Florida, but not even the mild-mannered, Bible-toting quarterback could keep Hernandez from slugging a Gainesville, Fla., bouncer and puncturing his ear drum.

The incident took place around 8 p.m. ET, and Hernandez left the area immediately after the altercation. When a responding officer could not locate him, the officer interviewed Tebow, who said he tried to resolve the problem. Tebow said he urged Hernandez to leave peacefully and tried to make arrangements to pay the bill, Tobias said.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that two hours after the incident, another officer located Hernandez and talked with him about the incident while Tebow was present. The officer wrote that Hernandez was sober and "very polite and professional," according to the Sentinel. Also reported: Hernandez told the officer he and Tebow had already called then-Florida football coach Urban Meyer and informed him about the incident.

Charges were never filed against Hernandez, then a juvenile who had not yet played a down for the Gators.

I find it ironic that Tim Tebow will probably now be playing AH's position for the Pats.

FWIW, I think Tim Tebow is a good person and I admire how he did try to help AH.

Are we up to three possible murders AH may be involved in now?

Apparently, he didn't learn anything from Ray Lewis or OJ Simpson. It looks like he went to the "Rae Carruth School of Crime." With that said, I think Carruth is exactly where he belongs.

JMO.

from Bostonmom's link:

"Singleton was killed when the car he was driving hit a utility pole and crashed into a building at the Farmington Country Club, in Farmington, Conn., the paper reported."

"Police said the car was registered to Hernandez's uncle, Andres Valderrama, who is Singleton's father-in-law."
