Here are my thoughts on Boston Baby Doe. Since Baby Doe was found on June 25th/15 and was starting to decompose it is possible that she was alive as recent as 19th or 20th of June/15. The authorities have stated that there are no obvious signs of trauma on the body which leads me to believe that Baby Doe was placed on the shoreline and not washed in with the tide. If Baby Doe had been washed in with the tide, the tides are full of sticks and various objects which probably would have caused marks on her body.

I really believe that Baby Doe was placed on the shoreline just after tide turned to go 'back out' on the night/early morning of the 25th. The authorities have stated that Baby Doe was not in the water very long. I do believe that Baby Doe was already deceased for at least 3-4 days (either died on the 21st or 22nd of June/15).

It is my belief (and I stand to be corrected on this) that footprints of newborn babies are taken and submitted for birth registration and in some states dna samples may also be taken. What effort would it take to check with each of the birthing hospitals in the Boston area to see if they did take dna samples of newborns and what records they have of females born 4 years ago.

Like I said these are just my thoughts and any corrections/clarifications are willingly accepted. Just trying to think outside the box.

It is outrageous that nobody has come forward to identify this precious baby and it makes me sick to my stomach to think that someone has the nerve to put a baby in a garbage bag like a piece of trash. How dare they - seriously how dare they. Yes, I am spitting angry.

The blunt truth is a lot of people are not ready to be parents & their children suffer because of it.

I think the "mother committed suicide" theory could be probable. If she was having a mental breakdown preceding the suicide, she might have made it so her child would probably get a burial.

This case should remind us all to be kind to each other. Maybe if the right intervention had occurred, this poor kid wouldn't be on a poster...

Very true. Too many people have kids but don't bother parenting

They do drugs and pass their kids around from person to person while they go binge on drugs for weeks. Then come back around and act like a good parent.

It makes me sick. Massachusetts has a massive heroin crisis, mom could be high and not know her little girl is dead

There are too manypossibilities and not enough answers

Also, since I seem to be on 'thought roll' all the children's emergency departments in the Boston area need to be checked for the dates of 19,20, 21st of June 2015 to see if Baby Doe perhaps had been brought into emergency that weekend for any reason.

The toxicology reports can not be processed fast enough to see what was in Baby Doe's body.

I was just comparing Baby Doe's stats to my own children's baby books. I have her at 30lbs and 37".

My son has always sat right around the 100th percentiles for both height and weight. He was 29.8lbs and 35.5" at his 18 month well check appointment. He was 33.5lbs and 38.5" at his 2 year well check appointment. He wore a 2T/3T in that time frame. Like I said, he's big but he's not THAT big.

Baby Doe is closer to 3 than 5. I also think those pants were big on her, very big. I have 3 kids under 5. I'm super familiar with toddler sizes and clothing brands. Circo runs true to size.
I agree that she is latin and therefore you have to take that into acct with the sizes. My kids are part Mexican and are always on the small side. My 3 yr old is 24 lbs and 33 inches and my 5 yr old is 37 lbs and 40 inches. Height especially will be lower in children of latin and hispanic decent.

I think 4 or a small 5 is probably about right.

Putrefaction[/B]
is the decomposition of proteins in a process that results in the eventual breakdown of cohesion between tissues and the liquefaction of most organs.

I'm guessing very early stages because her eye color was still noted.
I didn't see 'unrecognizable" can someone give me a link to that?

I'm still catching up from being out of town over the weekend- not fully through the thread yet but I just wanted to jump in and add that I read in one if the first news articles--I have a fading migraine so I'm not searching for the actual article--but I'm positive an article stated that officials assumed she was dead for somewhere between 4-7 days.

I also read that the forensic artist was very confident in the photo looking very much like the actual face on the body.

Also, there was a red hairband in the photo. So the forensic artist did pay attention to detail. I'm assuming there were no earrings in her ears. If he was careful enough to include the red hairband then he would have been careful enough to include earrings.

The coroner must have noticed the piercings much later on. I'm not too confident in the coroner for noticing piercing so long after her body was found. But maybe the piercings were in fact noted by the coroner but somehow lost in translation on the way to the artist??

I really think the photo looks very much like the body based on the forensic artist's confidence in the interview and based on the report of 4-7 days post death. Also, it's not like a sketch from the memory of a witness. It's a rendering from photos of the actual child. They probably generate them through a 3-d computer rendering of some sort- not just a freehand sketch--that's just my speculating.

One more thing. Surely there's some sort of forensic way to determine the age if a body, right? Are they saying 4 because her pants are sized 4t or are they saying 4 from determine her bind age maybe? Can't you determine someone's age from their bones or teeth?

If it's strictly because of her pants then it could be way off for a number of previously mentioned reasons--not are children are cut from the same cookie cutter

Another reason though is I often buy my children's "basics" clothing items --like leggings and pjs---a size up so that they go farther.

They would have used a number of factors, including bone development, the plates in the skull, her teeth, etc.

This is starting to blow my mind that NO ONE is correctly identifying this child. The photo HAS to be close enough that relatives or neighbors would call in. The only explanation is a situation like those girls that have birth while being held captive for over a decade by that guy Castro or possibly from a country that has yet to see the picture? But I'm thinking the authorities are working with other authorities. Wouldn't the head of America's missing children share this with the heads of other nation's missing children in order to cover all their bases? I thought for sure after being out of town girls weekend that I'd come home to check and see that she's been identified. :(

As drh the theories of her being a child passed around from caretaker to caretaker and ending up in the wrong home---one of the many caretakers would recognize her, so that can't be the case. How can NO ONE recognize her? I'm so frustrated for her. Seeking justice is one thing, but the sheet fact that no one even knows who she is is just mind blowing.

Good. Then we can stop theorizing that's she's possibly 3 or 5??

Well, there aren't any measurements that are exact. Some kids get their teeth early or late, or their skull sutures fuse at a different age. So there's always an element of approximation. They listed 3 to 5 on her Namus page.

They're still working through hundreds of tips.

Since I don't have a MSM source for this, I guess it will have to be called rumor, but I can confirm that LE is investigating very thoroughly. Local police descended on a neighbor wanting to know where their daughter is, and when they said she was spending the summer with her grandmother--which is true--they didn't leave until LE in the grandmother's town had gone out to the grandmother's house to verify that the daughter was there and in good health. So they are checking, they are being VERY thorough, and they are not dismissing anything.

Neighbor's daughter has blondish brown hair and blue eyes. They checked anyway.

Norway published the story 5th July: http://www.dagbladet.no/2015/07/05/nyheter/dodsfall/usa/boston/40000854/

Sweden published the story 4th July: http://www.dn.se/nyheter/varlden/fyraaring-hittad-dod-i-en-sopsack-i-boston/

So hopefully other countries also have picked up the story about Baby Doe.

Anyone know when autopsy results

There is something called a Bone Age scan (x-ray) that can be used to help determine age. It's an x-ray taken of the hand and wrist area. Children have growth plates that change and thin out over time which are measured and approx age is given.
I'm not in the medical field, but I have a child that was thoroughly checked for growth issues. After all blood tests, he had to have a Bone Scan. This was all explained to me by the Endocrinologist. My son's growth plate that was checked was in his wrist. Even though he was small for his age (6 yrs old but the size of a 4 yr old) his Bone Age was right on. He is perfectly fine and healthy, just small. :)
So, there are definitely numerous ways to determine age, not just from clothing found with the little girl. I'll assume LE is pulling out all the stops to identify this sweet little girl. Let's hope it happens soon!

That's good to hear. I know there are many tips to sort through, and I know LE is doing their best, but that adds to my being discouraged. If someone called in and said "I am certain that little girl is my granddaughter. Her name is Sarah Soto. Blah blah blah." They would look into that tip before many of the others. Good tips get moved to the front of the line. Any tips with someone saying they know her would probably be bumped up to the the top. Sadly, I don't think any tips of that kind are coming in :( I think they are getting tips like "she could be April Bowdish. She could belong to this Louisiana brain injured woman. She could be caleigh etc" Basically all missing children in her age group could potentially be her, but I don't think anyone is calling in saying "that child lived in my neighborhood and played with my daughter on the swingset". If my 3.5 year olds picture was plastered all over the news, 1000s of people would know his face- the grocery store cashier, the haircut ladies, the 2 Priests that alternate saying the Mass we attend, our neighbors, tons of family members, teachers of my older children, parents of my older children's best friends, my older children's best friends, the lady at Dillard's, the lady at the furniture store, the different cashiers at the gas station we frequent, several post office workers, our mail lady who sees him playing in the yard with our older children, the many neighborhood dog walkers that see him playing in the yard, the contractors that worked on our AC recently, the pest control guys that did our termite inspection, the cashier at Target who questioned him about his crazy long eyelashes along with many other past cashiers commenting on the same thing, his pediatrician, my siblings' friends, my friends, my husband's coworkers, MANY waitresses at restaurants because he has trouble sitting down- he's that kid they dread as do most churchgoers. People take notice of cute young children. It's a natural human instinct for strangers to inquire about your cute kid throwing a fit in the checkout line. It's a natural human instinct for strangers to inquire about your cute kid behaving perfectly in the front of the shopping cart. Someone would have noticed this child if she were ever out in public. The fact that no one has talked about past "sightings" leads me to believe that she's been hidden most of her life--Like the child of the mother that gave birth chained in the home of that Castro guy - the one that committed suicide in jail.

There's just too many people that would recall seeing this child if she were ever out in public.

Now maybe there ARE a few cashiers that recall seeing her that are local to Deer Island. This may be why the police are saying they think she's local. It's possible they are just not telling the public that people have indeed seen her?? But LEs pleading for help leads me to think this is not the case.

I remember with Mickey Shunick and other past missing girls that the police got hush hush when they were onto something. Almost like the silence from them spoke by saying "we got this. Let us do our thing". But LE is not being silent about Baby Doe. They are pleading for help from the public. I don't sense a silent yet confident "we got this" :(

Welcome to WS!!!!

The autopsy did not come up with a cause of death. No visible trauma to the child. We are still awaiting toxicology, however. I'm not sure how long toxicology takes to come back. Anyone know? It's been about 18 days since she was found. Maybe another week for toxicology? I'm just guessing....

I woke up with baby doe heavy on my mind today. Anybody have the email address on hand to submit tips?

Who am I? I am that tiny voice in the back of your mind which encourages you to be who you choose to be as long as you are truthful to yourself. I am that tiny voice in the back of your mind that encourages you to reach higher. I am that tiny voice in the back of your mind that makes you understand that you are a survivor...that you are important...that you matter.
