Because she was left alone on the beach as well or due to neglect in some other situation?

I was watching the news and I think they said its unrelated to the beach incident. Maybe she is a suspect and LE has been watching her? Not sure at this point.

forget my last post -
in a moment of weakness
I was feeling sympathetic for the mother...
my mistake (I think).

Smoking man
parks the vehicle
on the other side of the foot-bridge.
hangs around a while
-smoking a cigarette-
shielded by the dunes
and out of immediate sight-line of the homes.
Wait for your cue - mom throws the ball...
whoop - bad shot.
not far enough over the wall.
go up and get it - impromptu dry run.
few more throws...
way up there and under the porch.
mom climbs the stairs
and walking back toward the drop zone
she is face to face with smoking man
who is patiently waiting for cues on the other side.
Mom looks over the wall - takes final inventory.
turns away toward the homes in relief and disbelief.
She hangs out at the porches
for a few moments - a minute?
watches him load up the car from her new vantage point.
Her heart is racing -
she forgets the ball
and runs back to the rail
to check on the 4 year old...
She would never leave a child on that beach
and she had a genuine concern for her safety.
---There lies the punch line ----
he pulls onto Seaview street
only 500 feet or so to Rt. 127.
a much faster departure than Long Beach.
He was on Rt. 128 doing 70 mph
before the surfer made it to shore.

The lost ball is a subconscious metaphor
unbeknownst to even the author of this "tragedy".

So your theory is she gave Caleigh away to the smoking man and it was all planned that she would throw the ball. As horrible as the theory sounds it makes some sense in the fact that:

1. She goes to a beach she knows is not crowded.
2. being from the area knows the ocean currents and thinks ahead of time that that LE will think it was a drowning.
3. Story keeps changing about that day.
4. Makes two bad throws over the wall

Missing though is motive. Is it that she could not handle two kids and thought if she only had the 4 year old their was light at the end of the tunnel?

Is this the setup for the perfect crime?

Or is everything just coiencidence and is still just a tragic accident?

She publicly posted:
"What am I going to do with it??"
regarding the unborn second child...
Caleigh does not resemble the mother
so we default to her dads appearances...
does Caleigh resemble smoking man???

Now wouldn't that be a treat...

But wouldn't the dogs have picked up her scent up to the parking lot?

And if this was planned was it a temporary thing and we will see Caleigh mysteriously reappear at some point? Maybe after the Mom gets the sympothy she wanted?

Another factor is the 10 minute wait to call 911. Gives smoking man time to get away.

Traceable scent would only transfer to the sand if she walked...
she would have been lifted and carried - no doubt.
We're talking about inert sand and sustainable winds...
Neither of which is in the dogs favor.

I wish there were some sort of confirmation from the authorities that the dogs did pick up Caleighs scent. Assuming the Mom left them near the rocks along the wall as she said....dogs should have definately hit there....if someone snatched her from that area.......footprints should have been visible from at least the perp....if little caleigh had walked toward the water.........her prints/scent should have led them toward the waters direction as tide was going out not in to cover them up.

I've been kinda waiting for someone to bring that up -
maybe they have already and I missed it.
They had 4 HOURS on a quiet beach
to analyze ground impressions
and see if there was ANY evidence she toppled in.
again though -
and I hate to play devil's advocate-
sand is unstable
and collapses as it dries.

In one of the many accounts from the mother...
didn't she or the media say
the girls were building castles at the time of the disappearance??
the sloping shoreline of Saratoga Creek is not suited for this.
They would have been further in where the main shore was receding.

Wow. Just wow.

So the theory is that she planned this?

I have no words.

That's only my crack-pot theory...
I am sure there are many who disagree
and many other more
-Logical?- (for lack of a better word)
theories that trump my interpretation.

Just my opinion.

Another thing that's been on my mind....
The CHARADE with the back-hoe's in the sand.

what the hell was that
and what protocol were they following?
who initiated the response and who was running the excavation???
you DO NOT use heavy equipment to recover a potential victim.
and seriously????
the sand recedes and returns -
it's not like a rogue wave slammed the shore
and jammed her ten feet beneath the earth.
Total FIASCO and a show for the Media.

Is it me or does the description of the strange man sound like the composite from the Molly Bish case? Or maybe I missed some details somewhere?

Wow, interesting article. Some excerpts that I found intriguing:

"Referring to a TV report that she had left her children by the footbridge at the edge of Saratoga Creek, Hammond said, in an emotional phone interview with the Times, "I would never have left my daughters by the footbridge."

"Hammond says she left her "girls" where her sister-in-law Catherine says she did — nestled in a safe spot in the rocks some distance from the creek."

I wish we had a picture of this spot. The mom seems well aware of the changing currents and thought the girls were a safe distance away. I don't know what to think anymore.

Okay...another discrepancy per this article (sorry...on a kindle, can't cut and paste) . Caleigh now does not particularly like the water and would never go in it on her own.

In trying to find the "frolicking in the water" post here, look back at #4 with article quoting friend on phone with dad right after disappearance...the FIRST story is that ball went into rough water...JMHO

Funny the mother didn't mention this 'safe spot' while on the Nancy Grace show. Up until these latest news articles...it was repeatedly said in the media etc that the girls were in the sand area at end of footbridge. That is also what a family member told me. Seems kind of odd that the 'safe spot' shows up after LE re-enactment on Wednesday and pursuant CHINS request by LE.

How far from the footbridge did the family say the girls were to you?

When they were timing how long it took if it were an abduction when I was there....David kept going back to a spot about 20 feet from the bridge and about 10 feet from the rocks next to the wall. The spot was definitely NOT tucked into the rocks or on the rocks that were next to the boardwalk, which would have been the farthest spot away from the water.

I wonder if she is saying that the safe spot would be because there is water on two sides and they are "safely" (ya right) away from both water edges.....

The only thing I think of why the details are changing....are that....well....maybe alcohol was involved. Sometimes after a drink or two you can't remember things....things are fuzzy....details fade....? How does a mother that had to have played out these few minutes not know EXACTLY how long she was gone. The only reason IMHO is she may have been inpaired and/or she was doing something at the car (running back to get something or?) and she just didn't want to tell anyone that part of the story.....
