I'm happy with the verdict! The only emotion she showed the whole time was today...for herself.

Through her tears there were moments when she showed an angry or disgusted face....one time was when she turned around to her family.... there were a few other times...JMO then a lost all video as storms rolled through last night and they are repairing cable....grrrr

I feel that the sentence won't be light, which is why hes allowing her to remain on bail. To give her a little time with her family before she goes in.

GUILTY!!! of Involuntary Manslaughter. Allowed to remain on bail. Sentencing hearing scheduled for Aug. 3, 2017.

The judge saw her handling of Conrad when he got out of the truck to be the crux of this case.

Juvenile Court -- it will be a light sentence, IMO. I hope it is active time for a least a year or two. We'll have to wait & see.

She needs to do some time behind bars, at least a year. She needs a sentence which brings prison time, not jail time.

The verdict was a rare legal finding that a person’s words alone can directly cause someone else’s suicide

Judge says moment #MichelleCarter urges Roy to get back in the truck filling w/ CO was reckless, she knew what would happen #NBCBoston

One of the reporters on the livestream noted that there is a long standing precedent for this verdict, and in the past she would have been charged with murder, instead of manslaughter. So she is actually very lucky.

I don't think that the fact that her bail was not revoked, is necessarily an indication that she will get a light sentence. Though I also don't think she will get 20 years. I expect most of that 20 years will be probation.

"GET BACK IN"

Wanton and Reckless.

She knew he would die if he got back in.

Guilty as charged.

Been silently following this case and very glad to hear the guilty verdict!! It takes a terrible person to actually talk someone into committing suicide. All along I thought the key was him getting out of the truck and her talking him into getting back in. If it were anyone else who actually cared for him on the phone that day, he wouldn't have done it. I'm glad the judge agreed!

So glad she was found guilty. Is there video?

I agree with you on that, it is easy to spot when they are thinking only about themselves. Did you see her shaking even before the judge started talking, she was scared about what was going to happen. Which she should have been. I was thinking how scared Roy must have been when she told him to get back into the truck.

Kudos to the judge. We NEED this case on the books as society rockets into the age of remote communication. Almost everyone Converses via a device nowadays and there MUST be a relatable case on the books going forward.

Now to the sentencing, I really think she will get off easier than she deserves. Maybe 24 months in jail followed by several years of probation, community service and perhaps some court mandated treatment. She deserves to go to prison for 20 years at least, but I can't picture it turning out that way. One can only hope.

And so it begins...

"Mr. Roy's death is a terrible tragedy, but it is not a reason to stretch the boundaries of our criminal laws or abandon the protections of our constitution,” the ACLU of Massachusetts said in a statement.
The group said that there is no law in the state making it a crime to encourage someone, or even to persuade someone, to commit suicide.

I watched a live stream, I'm guessing it will soon be uploaded to YouTube, try LawNewz or LadyJustice.

The judges comments were very good, appeal will be very difficult IMO

I agree. She is a terrible person. And taking the entire body of their communications over 2 years shows a horrific level of manipulation.
