Wow -- that article is very interesting, thank you so much for finding and posting it. A couple of things stand out:
- he's seemingly actively cooperating with the police, as the reporter found him coming out of police HQ after questioning;
- I don't care for the all of the "if I had killed her/if she had overdosed, I would have (fill-in-the-blank)" - that line of defense feels super guilty to me for some reason;
- I'm nervous that his two lines of work were commercial fishing and garbage/trash collection -- both of which would give him knowledge and opportunity for less detectable body disposal. Particularly at sea. Hoping LE is on top of any potential connections he has with fishing boats.

So impressed with the Mendez family. They are doing a great job fighting for their girl.

Boats................trash dumpsters......................ALL BAD. You can write this one off as "unsolved"..................

Well... this might clear a few things up:

Fleury acknowledged he was with Mendez the night of her alleged disappearance. He said that Mendez was the go-between for him and a heroin dealer and, on the night of her disappearance, he picked up Mendez at 5:30 or 6 p.m. to buy drugs. Fleury said they took the same trip they had taken twice before: Fleury said he would pick Mendez up at her Swampscott residence and drive her to the area of a Rite Aid on Lewis Street in Lynn. She would call somebody to arrange the drug deal when they arrived at the store, although Fleury said Mendez used his cell phone to make calls on Nov. 6 because hers was running out of battery power. He would then allegedly give her the money and she would bring him drugs. Fleury said he last saw Mendez walking away from his car at approximately 6:30 or 7 p.m. on Nov. 6. “She was with me 30 minutes tops,” Fleury said. Fleury said he then did what any heroin user would do: “I went home and fried my brain.”

It would seem that the "connection" (drug supplier) would be on Fleury's phone since she used his phone during the interaction that night...

JMO...

She had her phone with which she called for help, so he may be lying about her using his phone. If those phone calls have time stamps after she called for help on her own phone, then it just may be his attempt to create a cover. He may not have known she called for help until after she he may have had control of her phone. The idea that some drug dealer showed up, cut a piece of rug out this guys bedroom van and dumped it the CVS may be implausible. Then this said dealer drove off with Jaimee Bruck to a secluded area just across the Howard A. King Town Forest from this guy's home, an area he may have know well, to dump her phone and other items, not very likely. He's made too many mistakes even in his lying.

This will be solved, I strongly believe, and it may not take long.

All good points... I am on the fence about if he was being truthful or not...

O/T... But I posted before I read the other posts in response to the "interview" with Fleury...

Once I read all the other responses I realized how elementary my response was.... And had to giggle at myself... :giggle:

Y'all out-thunk me... And for that... I am grateful and impressed! :seeya:

Unless she used his phone so the call would not show up on hers?

That's his tale, respectfully posited. It could be covering his tracks. LE would know the exact time of when Jaimee Mendez raised the alarm in the call to her friend for rescue and when the calls on his phone took place. I think he may not have known that she had called for help, because he didn't initially take apart his bedroom van, only after the family showed up.

Well carp! Hearing his side of things makes sense, now I am doubting his involvement.

Wouldn't whatever he said by it's nature be meant to cast doubt dismissing the timing, his action, his appearance, and his culpability, respectfully posited? None of it changes the fact that she used her phone to call for help and was gone never to be seen again before it arrived, that there's a piece of a rug from his van, now impounded, that the structure of his alibi either has him frying his brain for about four hours and then going to see the mother of his child, gives him that time unaccounted for beside his mother saying that he went home and had dinner after he was with Jaimee Mendez. So, did he buy drugs then rush to have dinner with family as his mom states he said he did or did he rush home to do drugs? I can see him lying to his mom and reporter. BTW, she did indeed misrepresent, now we know about her son's record, his having just that one bit of trouble when he was 18, when he raped his VA girlfriend's 13 year old sister. He sounds like he does have problem with boundaries with people if there are eight restraining orders against him and lying may have been a coping skill learned early on.

We know she called for help because she was uneasy about the man she was with. Her family is convinced it's JF, but maybe it was the drug hookup guy.

Thank you for you thoughts, but why would you even begin to believe him?

The main reason his story rings true at all, is because he's been grilled by LE and so far, they haven't arrested him. Of course this could mean that they're just giving him more rope, but it could also mean that his story actually checks out (certain number dialed from his phone at a certain time, and the same number found in her phone from previous call logs, etc.).

I could be way off on this one, but it does seem awfully convenient to automatically assume he's behind this (especially due to his past). Which makes me wonder, who are her other friends & associates and what kind of lifestyles are they living, and what kind of pasts do they have? One of them may be the one behind her disappearance or none of them could. It could actually be a complete stranger situation.

This is where tech comes into play in a very real way. If she did in fact use his phone to make the call to some drug dealer, the evidence of it will be on his phone, showing when the call was placed and how long the call lasted. If she also called two different friends for help as the articles are reporting, the evidence of that also will be on her phone as well, which they have found, as well as on the phones of the two people she called (assuming she called their cell phones, and not a landline).

According to this article http://www.itemlive.com/news/item-e...cle_22422f0e-6b8a-11e4-ab28-139fce571f81.html he picked her up at her house and the last time he saw her was between 6:30 and 7pm. I haven't seen any articles (that I can remember) that state what time she made those calls to friends - if it was before that, or after that. But the fact that he hasn't been arrested yet tells me LE may believe him at least as far as the timeline goes, calls made, etc.

Well, then they would be towing some other guy's car/s, looking through somebody else's thrash. You do need warrants to do that, I think. LE have a record of the calls.

LE might be waiting to make an arrest so they can bring down the entire heroin sales team. I think that they will resolve this fairly quickly. After all, the players are especially clever.

The family hasn't minced words about the timing of the calls. The friend who couldn't find her may have been the one who told the family she called. The Mendez started looking right away.

Have you read somewhere what time she placed the calls to friends? It might be out there somewhere I just don't remember seeing it.

This guys reported statement sounds just like RATs, in Alexis's case ,

and His mothers statement echos the exact thing Jesse mathews mother said"

So if she supposedly used his phone to arrange the drug deal, he should have the number of the drug dealer he thinks is responsible, right? And, I assume if he's being cooperative, he's turned that number over to police?? Or his entire phone?

And, if this was a usual thing for them, what usually happened after she returned to his car with the drugs for him? He took her back home or just left her at the Rite Aid? And if he usually drove her home, why not this time?

Exactly the same questions I have. I seriously doubt he's going to tell the media she used his phone to make a call to a dealer, and not have given LE that same info. Since he's been questioned multiple times I'm assuming he IS being cooperative and they (LE) do have the info from his phone.
