Yowzer! His poor fiance'!!!! He might have a college education, but I gotta say- what a dumbazz- obviously his sex drive was stronger than his ability think through and avoid detection. I would bet that his 'appearance' and 'credentials' made him seem safe to these women.
Listen- I will NEVER believe that women in the sex trade industry deserve or are asking to be attacked or taken advantage of, but honestly...
If your brain is not addled by drug dependancy (which is obviously a problem for many prostitutes, strippers, etc) and you are not a victim of sex slavery or trafficking, then you bear some responsibility for your own safety and well being.
Women who are have a certain amount of education and a decent brain KNOW the dangers they are putting themselves in when they CHOOSE to engage in selling ANY degree of sexualized behavior on the internet to strangers (especially those who are doing this to pay for their 'higher education' or support a finer lifestyle for themselves and/or their children). In interviews with highly educated call girls, etc- I hear them say that they are very cautious, aware, take precautions to protect themselves, blah blah blah... but still live with their heads in the clouds and think that sex with strangers is their God given right (b/c they enjoy it) and there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe they think that they are not in as much danger as the random streetwalker. I think that THEY think that they are smarter than the average john and have a false sense of security. As we have learned on WS, predators are EVERYWHERE, and to me it is just as irresponsible to solicit sexual partners online as it is to move in with a man you barely know and allow him unsupervised access to your child!
I tend to think that the sex workers who work in the 'grittier' areas of the industry are more aware of the dangers they face than the ones who do it on the pretense that they 'enjoy' it, or are only doing it as a means to an end. The less fortunate just don't have a choice to get out of it.
I hope I don't get blasted for this diatrabe, but I am just so angered by the decisions of women who may have the ability to CHOOSE to do something different, but don't, and open themselves up to being victimized by predators and murderers. Obviously, self-esteem issues play a large part for these women and I chalk that up to our society's promotion of instant gratification, plastic beauty, and glorification of sex. As difficult as our current global economic situation is for most of us, I can only wish that b/c $$$$ is no longer king our society will 'regress' and promote things that are more old fashioned, like personal character, and the importance of family and friends.
Again- NO PERSON, regardless of their background, race or gender, deserves to be violated or hurt. But PLEASE, people... take responsibility for yourselves! If you think that there are burglers out there, DON'T leave your house unlocked and provide a map to your valuables taped to the front door!
