Or would whatever are the German equivalent of our sub judice laws prevent that?

In 2017 Rowley talked of a critical line of enquiry, imo it'll remain unsolved but CB will be for ever the one.

That would be a terrible outcome, wouldn't it? The worst possible scenario.
But, like you, I don't see the MM angle of this German investigation ever going anywhere useful.
ETA. I had a re-read of what Rowley said at the time and it's just platitudinous people-pleasing, money-justifying words imo, no conviction, no sense that there's any real will there to investigate. Fair play to the Germans for at least giving it a good go even if it ends up with nothng to show for its time and efforts.

The Mail article is currently displaying MM disappearance as occurring in 2003.. hopefully they will at least update that part..
As for the Sun / Mail forecasts regarding CB we’ll have to wait and see if they are more accurate in that respect …

In 2020 it was said soon to be charged, in 2021 charges would be brought next year, in 2022 charges before the end of the year, now its charges in 2023, maybe, could be, in reality in regards to Madeleine, no imo.

It would seem Brueckner is unlikely to even be charged with Madeleine's disappearance until after he has stood trial for the other matters unrelated to Madeleine's disappearance:
