As far as I can see, the Mirror has omitted to mention to whom this letter was written.

Above link a recent interview with MWT.

At about 47mins55sec he states back patio door of 5A was left open to allow airflow into appt. as was hot.
Have to say I’ve never heard that before..?
Only that patio doors were closed but unlocked.

Wonder where this suggestion that patio doors were actually pulled open a bit has come from ?

Strange that the door needed to be open with average early May nighttime temperatures between 15-20 celcius.

Wouldn't you need another opening somewhere in the apartment, like a window, in order to get an airflow ?

I guess so .. yes .

I’m curious if this is only MWT’s personal opinion of what may have been case ( patio doors being open ) .. invented to reinforce his hypothesis that MM left 5A of own accord ?

Or is it based on something a third party has told him ?

And if so , is that third party a reliable source of information ?

This proposal contradicts MM parents account of situation on 3rd May .. whereby they said patio doors were closed but unlocked … imo

I suppose Matthew would know as he went in that way at about 21.30. Did anyone ever ask him ?

This was updated in October, if they have concrete evidence why are they asking for and offering a e10,000 reward for information.

Disappearance of Madeleine McCANN on May 3rd, 2007 in Praia da Luz / Portugal – witnesses wanted
The BKA and the public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig are investigating a German suspect on suspicion of murder
On May 3rd, 2007, Madeleine (Maddie) Beth McCANN
, who was 3 years old at the time, disappeared without a trace from a hotel complex in Praia da Luz / Portugal.
In this context, at the request of the public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig, the Federal Criminal Police Office is conducting investigations into suspected murder against a 45-year-old German citizen who is currently in custody on another matter.
Between 1995 and 2007 he lived more or less permanently in the Algarve, including for a few years in a house between Lagos and Praia da Luz. During this period, he worked in several odd jobs in the Lagos area, including in gastronomy. In addition, there are indications that he earned his living by committing crimes such as burglary in hotel complexes and holiday apartments and drug dealing.
Furthermore, the suspect has been sentenced to prison terms several times in the past for the sexual abuse of children. Most of his contacts are probably not aware of this.
Some of the vehicles he used at the time, various points of contact and a Portuguese mobile phone number are known to the investigating authorities.
The Federal Criminal Police Office and the public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig ask for your help in further clarifying the circumstances of the crime.

The more they have the stronger the case - isn't that obvious?

I expect they're asking for help because they really need it! Thanks for link, the detail of the info they're hoping to get a response to is interesting albeit not exactly encouraging at this late stage of the game. It implies they still don't have anything concrete re the phone call/CB's presence in PdL on the evening of the 3rd - 'almost certainly' is a close cousin of 'possibly' and an even closer relative of 'we think it's likely but we don't know for sure'.

And the final bullet point generating a useful response is imo on the very very very slim side, to put it mildly.

Time: 05/03/2007
Crime scene: Praia da Luz / Portugal

As part of the clarification of the circumstances of the crime, it is particularly important to determine the actual whereabouts of the accused at the presumed time of the crime, which is between 9:10 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the day of the crime.

At the critical time, the suspect used a dark-colored Jaguar XJR 6 , there is no information about the specific registration before the crime, the last known registration after the day of the crime was from the city of Augsburg, as well as a white and yellow VW T3 Westfalia with Portuguese registration. There are indications that he could have used one of these vehicles to commit the crime.

In addition, he was almost certainly using the Portuguese mobile number +351 912 730 680 at the time of the crime in question . A telephone call was made to a previously unknown person on May 3, 2007 at a relevant time in the area of Praia da Luz. The caller used the Portuguese number + 351 916 510 683. The user of this number is considered an important witness , but was not in the area during the call.

The Federal Criminal Police Office and the Braunschweig public prosecutor ask for your help:
  • Can you provide information on the vehicles used by the suspect, or did you see them at the beginning of May 2007, or do you know where they were parked during the period mentioned?
  • Can you provide information on the phone numbers mentioned and their users in May 2007?
  • Can you provide information about the houses, rooms or other points of interest shown?
  • Were you in the Algarve at the beginning of May 2007 and do you still have any photo material such as vacation photos or videos?
  • Were you in contact with a person who was connected to the vehicles, buildings and telephone numbers shown and can you provide information on their whereabouts at the beginning of May 2007?
  • Have you yourself been the victim of a crime by this person?
  • Furthermore, there is reason to assume that, in addition to the perpetrator himself, there are other people who have specific knowledge of the possible course of events and, if applicable, where the corpse was deposited. We expressly ask these people to get in touch and share their knowledge.

The essence of this appeal by BKA is not CB, but the Unbekannter Person, the Unknown Person.

The essence of this appeal by BKA is not CB, but the Unbekannter Person, the Unknown Person.

The thing is though, the unknown person - the caller - has had well over two years to come forward, and hasn't. Why would they come forward now? We discussed at length on previous threads the many reasons why this person was unlikely to come forward (nefarious and otherwise) and I can't see them, if they're still out there somewhere, suddenly changing their mind, even with a reward up for grabs.

Ditto and even more unlikely the 'unknowns' referred to in the final bullet point.
  • Furthermore, there is reason to assume that, in addition to the perpetrator himself, there are other people who have specific knowledge of the possible course of events and, if applicable, where the corpse was deposited. We expressly ask these people to get in touch and share their knowledge.
Although the above does rather reinforce the idea that the BKA's case against CB remains precariously dependent upon discovery of remains.

Good luck with that.

The Unknown Person will never come forward on his/her own initiative if you ask me.
But somehow I'm confident that BKA has 'everything' in control.

Arrest warrant issued against Christian B. for further sexual offenses

"Christian B. is accused of rape and child abuse. Now the district court of Braunschweig has issued an arrest warrant. The 45-year-old is already in prison for another crime.

Arrest warrants have been issued against Christian B. - the suspect in the case of the missing Madeleine McCann - for several other sex crimes. This was announced by the district court of Braunschweig. In total, there are five acts in which the strong suspicion is affirmed. The arrest warrant does not refer to the Madeleine McCann case.

According to the court, it is currently not possible to execute the new arrest warrant because it requires Italy's consent. B. was picked up there in 2018 and extradited to Germany for another crime. The public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig now wants to obtain approval. However, the arrest warrant would not have any direct effects anyway, since B. is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Lower Saxony for, among other things, raping an elderly US tourist in Portugal. In principle, however, the court sees the 45-year-old as the grounds for the risk of absconding and the risk of recurrence."

Seems like the court in Braunschweig had enough time to examine the files from the latest charges. After it issued the arrest warrant it seems to be very likely, that the court is going to open the trial against CB as well.
