Am I the only one semi-following the SIM forum? They posted a few decent things yesterday; will try to grab them

Do you think the green object could be something from the cargo area .. something that would make an experienced aircraft person say 'that looks like it is from a plane' ?

Otherwise, why would they even think it was potential debris?

I'm clueless. Looked like a huge green condom.

Going back to the issue about finding any of the passengers/crew cell phones, this segment played again on CNN:

"Absolutely, this data is recoverable," according to Gough, co-founder of 4discovery. "The key is locating the devices and handling them properly by making sure, for example, that any recovered phones remain in a water-based solution that preserves the device's chips and removes mineral deposits," Gough added. "Even if the phone is destroyed, valuable information can be forensically recovered from the devices."

What could be found? Draft text messages that were not able to be transmitted, emails, videos and photos taken by passengers in the moments leading up to the ill-fated flight's disappearance
, according to Gough.

OMG, I am fervently hoping that the pax were blissfully unaware of what was occurring.

I think we need to see more of Russell Adams....

hahahahahaha, loads of pics of him in the link :loveyou: ...

An Australian pilot involved in the search for the missing Malaysia Airways plane has become an internet sensation - thanks to his good looks.

Royal Australian Air Force Flt Lt Russell Adams has set hearts aflutter, drawing comments such as:

"Not to detract from the search effort, but Flight Lieutenant Russell Adams is a hottie."

"Captain Russell Adams from the Australian MH370 search team serving up Top Gun realness," said one Twitter comment.

"In another country, he'd be a model. In Australia, he's just Russell Adams ... pilot," said another.

"It's time for Hugh Jackman to step aside because the world has fallen in love with another Aussie hunk," said news.com.au.

"I am sorry, but I need to gush. This guy is so so good looking! Let's look for him!"

"Capt. Russell Adams. I think I lost myself. Pls help me search. Myself."

MH370: Why has CNN not aired its interview with Fariq?
Athi Shankar | March 29, 2014
A local NGO criticises CNN for being biased against Malaysia on its search and rescue efforts to locate flight MH370.
GEORGE TOWN: A local NGO has raised questions on why international broadcasting channel CNN has still not aired an interview with the ill-fated Beijing-bound MAS Flight MH370 co-pilot, Fariq Abdul Hamid.
The Centre for Political Awareness president Huan Cheng Guan said that CNN’s Richard Quest had interviewed Fariq for the CNN Business Traveler programme, on Feb 19, just weeks before the plane’s disappearance.
“A bizarre coincidence? Why has the episode not been aired yet? Is there more than what meets the eye, judging from CNN’s current reporting slant?” asked Huan, in a statement released here today.
He claimed that CNN’s current coverage of the missing MH370 was biased, out to deride Malaysia and to boost profits through higher ratings.
“For CNN, the pursuit for ratings and profits overrides the necessity to report facts,” charged Huan.
In recent years, he pointed out that CNN had lost out to Fox News until the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
“It is not true journalism whereby reporters advance a story based on researched facts. Who pays the price for CNN’s irresponsible and selfish reports?Malaysia, of course! Have a heart! Consider what everyone is going through,” said Huan.

Ha! This guy is anti-Anwar so no wonder he wrote this. Take a look at the facebook page for the NGO.

"Even hoping against hope, no matter how remote, of course we are praying and we are continuing our search for possible survivors," said Hishammuddin Hussein, the acting transportation minister.

The poor families are being thrown on a horrible roller coaster ride! Why tell them now that there might be survivors after earlier this week telling them there weren't? IMO

IMO, they can't get their story right and they should get proper PR.

Hard to tell anything from the video. They didn't look too large to me, though. I hope they pick them up soon, though. The green object, maybe a seat? Aren't the seats different colors?

I think in Coach they are..

In one of the threads, way back, someone posted a pick of the seating arrangement in Economy or Tourist class seats and iirc they were multi coloured...or different coloured seats..some red, some blue, some purple, some orange or green..

The seats in Business and Executive class are much more luxurious.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said the latest shift north was based on analysis of radar data between the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca. At that time, the Boeing 777 was making a radical diversion west from its course.

Officials close to the investigation told Reuters last week that the plane may have passed close to Port Blair, the capital of India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 550 miles further northwest from where Malaysia has said its military radar last detected it.

Had to print screen; could only get the green object

from that distance IMO it's seems to be a pretty good sized object,

Does it seem round to you?

Thought I should stop lurking now things are a bit more quiet and join in on here! I was following the forum but couldn't keep up with all the posts though so I've missed out on a lot and just getting information from news reports lately!

I was holding onto hope of the plane landed with survivors, but hope soon the black boxes are located for answers and the families and friends can try to move on as best as they can. :( The whole situation has just been unbelievable.

I am another Aussie, my partner is in the Navy and there have been more Navy ships heading out to search as he got asked if he wanted to go the other day while they were about to head out of Sydney (he is just covering a few days here and there at the moment as he just got back from 6 months deployment!).

Looking forward to being apart of the discussion! :)

P.S I just had to comment on some earlier posts about our lovely accents, LOL. I was always used to the Aussie way of talking and thought American's totally had our accents wrong until I spent 2 months in the States to fly back into Sydney airport and realise how terrible we sound!!! :p

:greetings: Welcome to the group!

seems oblong to me - and does resemble the green seats in coach but with no other objects it's impossible to gauge the scale and size of the object. Could be anything? plane related? not plane related. gack.

This is what their seats look like on their 777-200s.

And this is the colour of the exterior of their 777-200s.

I think those are the seats in Executive and/or Business class

I believe the seats in Economy are not so luxurious. regular seats that are different colours..some red, some blue etc....

I will try to find pics of the Economy cabin

Passengers remain in their seats onboard Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER Flight MH318 as it cruises toward Beijing over the South China Sea, March 17.
MH318 replaces the flight number of the missing airplane, MH370, which was retired as a mark of respect for the passengers and crew. Reuters photographer Edgar Su boarded the flight in Kuala Lumpur and documented the journey to Beijing.

If anyone wants to know who Malaysia's defence minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, is....

Born in 5 August 1961, Hussein attended an all-male boarding school founded for children of nobility. He gained a bachelor's degree from the University of Wales in 1984 and a master's from the London School of Economics in 1988 before returning home to practise law.

In 1995, he went into politics and won a seat in parliament. He ascended through government ranks to hold multiple cabinet positions. He served in the government of Malaysia as Minister of Home Affairs from 2009 to 2013 and Minister of Education from 2004 to 2009.

His father was Malaysia's third prime minister, Tun Hussen Onn, and he is the nephew of the country's second prime minister, Tun Abdul Razak. His grandfather, Onn bin Ja'afar, founded the UMNO, which has dominated Malaysian politics since independence from Britain in 1957.

some reasons why it's taking so long to recover the objects:

Three ships arrived in the search zone Saturday and six more were due to descend on Sunday. That would bring the total number of vessels scouring the region to nine, with more scheduled to arrive.

Smoke flares are sometimes dropped by aircraft to help ships zoom in on objects that are located, but they tend to last only about 45 minutes.

Objects sighted earlier this week, where Australia's HMAS Success was merely 30 miles away, failed to yield a recovery because the flare extinguished before the ship could get there, said Royal Australian Air Force Warrant Officer Brenton Bell.

Spotters also sometimes tag debris on digital maps using hand-held triggers the moment it's seen. However, objects can drift quickly and are hard to relocate even an hour or two later.

The ideal scenario is that a nearby ship arrives quickly with a helicopter to scan the area, warrant officer Bell said.

The ships arriving in area will be sent to the GPS position and guided toward any debris by aircraft overhead, New Zealand Air Vice Marshall Kevin Short said in an interview Saturday.
