Before the #MH17crash, some 400 commercial flights crossed eastern Ukraine every day

OSCE Monitors Don’t Say When Investigators Arrive

A Malaysia Airlines exec says #MH17 crash site resembles a war zone; won’t send victims’ relatives there for now

Dutch PM to Putin: 'YOU have to do something. The bodies have to be repatriated, it's 35 degrees Celsius'

Germany’s foreign minister Saturday warned Russia that now may be its last chance to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine

Russia’s Foreign Ministry Saturday called for the Moscow-dominated civil aviation supervisory body to play a key role in the investigation of the Malaysia Airlines crash in Ukraine. Terrific ugh.

.......
Closed airspace over eastern Ukraine still looking like a boulder fell into a rushing river

I saw OSCE observers' caravan driving away from crash site at about 16:00. Only then did the workers start hauling the bodies away.

he German government has offered assistance to the investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines’ flight 17

NTSB's participant in #MH17 due in Kiev today (ONE )

I believe the military know how to set up a "portable morgue". It is done in battlefields during conflict zones. Dry ice can be shipped in and a building used to lower the temperature. Shelves built to hold the body bags. Attach ID's where applicable and possible. Even a small town of 5-18,000 has to have a refrigeration company.

JMO's

Thanks, that is very helpful information!
So they should have been able to organise this without much issue at all. Why choose not to I wonder! I mean it seems there is little dispute about what weapon was used to bring the plane down (the question is of course, who). So what could possibly be gained by not tending to the bodies sooner I wonder.

The problem is that the rebel militias won't allow access to the site.

IMO, the separatists are preventing anyone from coming in there so that they can 'sanitize' the crime scene - IOW - cover up the evidence of their crime. That's their foremost agenda regarding the debris field.

I think it is a great idea. I think they need to show up in numbers and demand their families remains. jmo

It's not going to happen.

And it's a very bad idea, it's a war zone there, there's NOTHING the family members can do there.

It's a sad situation, but the Dutch government is doing everything they can to get the victims back to the Netherlands.

gia2, yes this is exactly wat should be done. The remains placed in a body bag, they are beyond being shown. These :butthead: dont
have the brains t do it, they only know how to fight..it should come in handy in hell. IMO..:seeya:

Yes thanks, I thought it was informational as well.
I agree that a military organization should have prepared to handle a battlefield.

But the problem I see is that the Ukranian Army are NOT in charge
... the area is being controlled by the Pro-Russian separatists.

And I think THAT group are more of a recent rag-tag collection of volunteers
... rather than a legitimate military unit with years of organization behind them.

As an example, it has been reported that some of the separatists are drunk on duty ...
which is certainly not how a legitimate army would allow their soldiers to behave on duty.

Right now I think the separatists are more concerned with covering up the mistake they made of
shooting down an international passenger jet, instead of the intended Ukrainian military cargo jet.

On CNN tv today I heard that the official BUK usually travel in groups of three.
While all of them can fire missiles, the 3 units are not identical.
There is only ONE of them equipped with a unit called a TELAR, which can
identify whether the targeted plane is commercial or cargo or miliary.

There have been some reports that the separtists obtained ONE BUK
when they captured a Ukrainian military base.

But there are also some reports that people have seen
3 BUKs travelling together in the area.

So it is hard for those far away from the area, to know what the source
of the info is ... & thus it's intent - whether to inform or mislead.

MH17 Malaysia Airlines: Ukraine says it has proof Russian rebels behind plane tragedy

The Head of the SSU Department, Vitalii Naida, said: “The SSU conducts investigative actions and receives irrefutable evidence that Russian citizens were involved in the act of terrorism.”

Mr Naida said the evidence had been already forwarded to all their international partners.

"There were up to 900 separatists guarding the site, who had only allowed Ukraine's experts short and limited access to mark the bodies' location.

So far 192 bodies had been found."

This article also speaks of the plan that Australia and Ukraine have for the safe control and storage of the victims, but separatists will not guarantee their safety, so the teams cannot start their work.

Evening, All.

I've been out and about all day, and I am absolutely appalled at the people who have no clue that this plane crashed much less the circumstances and the aftermath! Oy! Only one person I mentioned it to even knew that there was any kind of hostile activity in the Ukraine!

People need to get their noses out of tweets and texts and "reality" shows and plug into the real world! Knowledge is power, and I fear the level of knowledge of many citizens has slumped to the level of the power of a wet noodle.

Thank goodness for WS and members from all over who are aware, in tune, and care about the world we live in!

Out of respect for the passengers, I could not bear to post the image, but the link works. It is absolutely heartbreaking. I thought about posting and alerting a Mod, but my tears stopped me, as did my conscience.

How can humans have such utter disregard for each other, I cannot fathom.
