Telegraph pursues clues on the ground in Eastern Ukraine to try and track down where rocket launcher was based


Blackened grains of wheat mark where the heat must have been fiercest.

Among the scorched grass, melted fragments of plastic and discarded bottles litter the ground.

On its own the scene is relatively benign. But then there is the context.

The patch of blasted wheat and wildflowers lies just a few miles from the Russian border, 12 miles from the crash site of Malaysia Airlines, and – as the Telegraph discovered – just a few hundred meters from concealed rebel positions.

The reporter is on scene. The footage is beyond graphic. It paints a picture I will never, EVER forget. I almost wish I could unsee it, but the harsh reality of what happened can never be erased, from our history, nor our collective conscience. :moo:

I am so angry, so heartbroken at this. I remember the rebels boasting at shooting down a military plane and the conversation (which was authenticated by the US, as per CNN) where they talked about discovering it was a civilian plane as if it was just another make of plane, no remorse, no grief, no sadness they had done it, just nothing.

And then France decides to go ahead and reward Russia by sending them millions of dollars in equipment, the Mistral affair. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I am still in shock i think. That anyone believes business should go on as usual with people who armed these thugs.

The 2 blackboxes have arrived at Farnham airbase, England. They'll be examined there and any information will be passed back to Dutch investigators.

The reason they've gone there is Farnham is one of only two places in Europe which has the facilities to enhance the audio evidence. The other is in France.

'BuzzFeed visited the site where a photo was taken purportedly showing the launcher, which Ukraine says was a Buk SA-11 surface-to-air complex, driving through Torez around lunchtime on the day of the attack. The photo purportedly shows it being driven past the filling area at a gas station on the town’s main street across from the hardware store. The road was ridden with tire treads from heavy equipment.'

This poem deserves to be read by the international public. With kind permission of the author I translated this poem into English. I present his poem now on the National Day of Mourning in The Netherlands which has been declared by the Dutch government.
