It was one of the first things printed in media after Nóra went missing but has since been removed from MSM articles. It’s in my notes from day one of her being reported missing! So it was definitely public knowledge at some point...

Yes, I remember reading very early on that N was very excited to see the waterfall.

Have the siblings been interviewed alone?

Maybe they all snuck out and they lost Nora, and are too scared to speak up for fear of punishment.

Maybe they did see someone take her or her sneak out, but denied it initially for fear of getting into trouble for not waking mom and dad right away... and now don’t feel like they can come clean because they lied.

Trying to think outside of the box here.

Well, that's odd! I wonder why it was removed?

If N did wander off on her own from the holiday cabin to look for the waterfall, why would she have exited through a window if the door were not locked and she could have left through the door? Did they confirm anything about the fingerprints on or around the window and could the window have been opened to make it look like an abduction?

I don’t think it is proven that she went out the window. I also don’t think a few random fingerprints in a hotel room or villa are anything concerning. I’m sure there are tons of fingerprints in hotel rooms.

They were aunt and cousin of Nora. My point was that the siblings could have stayed by themselves in the cabin, or helped the parents to search.

But Nora's parents quickly developed a "strong hunch" on Aug 4 that she was abducted from the upstairs bedroom by a criminal.
What good will it make to have a 12 and an 8 year old wondering around the jungle looking for their sister when there are more than enough professionals on the search. JMO

It was mentioned some time ago that she was very excited to see the waterfall.

Yes and presumably if the volunteer searchers (co-ordinated by police) knew that - it could only be because family had told police that.

I don't see it as far fetched to think Nora wandered there. At this stage it remains a possibility rather than far fetched. If no obvious cause of death, or evidence of assault is apparent I would say it is likely. If she was assaulted that's a game changer obviously.

Why on earth was it removed? It’s not like it’s groundbreaking or key info or bad in any way

I wonder if they have cancelled/postponed trips/guided tours from The Duson to the waterfall? Looking at the description and pictures of the route, like others, I doubt she’d have made it there alone - not sure I would!

That’s right, it was not proven that she had left through the window but it was repeatedly reported and stated that they think she left via the window. Do we know for sure what time the family arrived in the resort the day before they discovered she was missing?

Yes, but was that by posters speculating or was it reported in the media that her mom said she wanted to see the waterfall?

I remember her saying Nora was excited by the upcoming trip, but I can't find a quote about the waterfall.

Was it the people at the resort that mentioned this? Maybe the Dutch couple?
I wish we could find it so we can clarify that.

I still don't understand how she was missed when the area was searched extensively for over a week. Just the day before they were out there with cadaver dogs. Hard to believe they did did not pick up the scent if it was so obvious to the searchers. Imo

I’m positive that it was published in an article. It’s in my word document from day 1. I’ll check my notes to see if I can find it anywhere, even an archived version of a webpage.

IMO the fact that COD yet has to be determined does not necessarily mean that they haven't made findings that could be COD.
Their findings may very well be complicated and they also may want some DNA answers back before they announce their findings.
Also there is no doubt that they already know wether Nora had been subjected to sexual assault or not, but they have obviously decided not to announce if that was the case or not.

I think police and pathologist know a lot already but want to know even more,
and also police want to gain more time in regards to the investigation befor COD etc is announced to the public.

Quotes from the news article:

SEREMBAN:

A team of pathologists performing autopsy of Nora Anne Quoirin were seen leaving the Department of Forensic Medicine, Hospital Tuanku Jaafar (HTJ) here at 9.25pm, after spending some 12 hours there.

The team arrived at 9.05am

All the doctors refused to comment on the post-mortem.

Earlier, police told a media conference that as of 8.15pm, the autopsy was still underway and the cause of death had yet to be determined.

The autopsy was conducted by Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) pathologist Dr Siew Sheue Feng and Dr Hanif Mohammad of HTJ, assisted by specialists from the Petaling Jaya Chemistry Department and Forensic Department.

I think the family have been asked is there anywhere Nora wanted to go?
They’ve said yes to the waterfall. If they only just arrived Nora was still to go so how would she of known as as her first time there to go to the waterfall none of us would know unless we were shown yet nothing been said about her being shown how to get there so how did she even know she was going in the right direction? Even professional hikers get lost yet Nora without knowledge is supposed to of known?
There is always the possibility that she was truly lost, wandered over much of the jungle for days and just so happened to die near the waterfall (following streams to the source). There are so many different possibilities that we really don’t know which is why the authorities are carefully examining the area of jungle she was found at and also carefully doing the postmortem exam. I hope they can figure it out but there’s a chance that they won’t be able to trace her every move (if she wasn’t abducted).

Thanks for that. I don't remember seeing it and I can't find it when I search, so it is good to have your confirmation.

I think a lot is known but for some reason they cannot disclose, they need more time before announcing it to the media. My hunch is they have an important step(s) to take prior to release. This could be key based on the current findings, to solve the puzzle. I am sure the embassies as well as other foreign bodies are being consulted as well.

I've been following this case since day one and have not seen the waterfall comment until the day she was found. I could be wrong .JMO

This is what I'm thinking. If she was lost for days the distance isn't really an issue because she may have walked in circles and ended up at the waterfall eventually. If you are lost and with learning disabilities you may keep going until you can no longer, even though those disabilities hinder you. Nora wouldn't have been able to understand how to navigate or to stay still till help came.

I think she just got lucky. We don’t know how close she was to it.

I wasn’t saying what I thought the 1.2 km was in reference to, just that it is about 3/4 of a mile, which is true. I doubt they could look over the edge of a slope that deep and see her body though, so that measurement doesn’t really fit for depth of the ravine.

I think SO MUCH is being mixed up or confused due to translation issues. It makes everything harder to understand.
Yes, I just wanted to clear that up because your post was in response to one that thought the 1.2 km was the distance from the resort and I thought you were indicating that that was true.

I just didn't want the distance of 1.6 miles to be turned into 3/4 of a mile.
Nora would have had to have walked over a mile in her bare feet and underwear on a path that would be very difficult to navigate.

As for the ravine, she was described as being found all the way down to where the stream was. There must be some way to get to the bottom through the jungle that is hard to reach.
How she got down there I can't even imagine. Imo

Maybe, wild guess here... but maybe they have suspicions around family involvement?

There is usually a statement issued early on I.e post Mortem taking place, police believe no foul play at this time.... or words to that effect
