I knew they would televise the trial. Jury selection streaming is a 50-50 chance

A group of around 40 potential jurors is coming up to the courtroom for general voir dire questions.

The judge is hoping 12 jurors plus a couple alternates can be selected from this pool for the jury panel.

Originally the court was looking to have over 40 potential jurors to begin general voir dire but hopes to still be able to get a jury from these 38 potential jurors.

   12 jurors + 12 strikes for both sides + 2 alternates + 2 strikes for both sides = 42 (I think). For 38 to work, there has to be no (or minimal) strikes for cause and both sides can't use all strikes available. #trialtweets #TeresaSievers #MarkSieversontrial #NBC2CourtCoverage

The potential jurors are asked to answer some basic questions like where they've lived, how long, their occupation, if they have any police officers in their family, if they've ever been the victim of a crime or know someone who has been arrested/accused of a crime @winknews

All 37 potential jurors have answered those questions. Attorneys will ask some follow ups and read their witness list to make sure potential jurors don't know anyone who may testify at trial @winknews

Many potential jurors say they have family members in law enforcement.

Judge Kyle asked those jurors if they would be able to listen to each witness and give them the same credibility, regardless if they are law enforcement.

One potential juror says she was the victim of an assault where a man punched her. Another potential juror says she knew the bartender who was recently murdered in Cape Coral.

   PJ responded "not guilty."
   
   Hunter replied "exactly" that's how strong the presumption of innocence should be until proven guilty.
