Next juror says he read and seen on tv extensively from the beginning of the case. He says he has his ideas already and is leaning against the defense already. Says he doubts he could just follow the facts in the case. Stricken for cause.

Next juror says both newspapers and the news. From the beginning. Says he likes to think he can be independent and keep it separate from the media coverage. Doesn’t think he could forget facts he already knows and not share them with other jurors. Stricken for cause.

Lots of "I've already made my opinion on this case" potential jurors so far today. We've lost five of the first six in the "second round" focused on questions about what they know of the case. #trialtweets #marksieversontrial #teresasievers #nbc2courtcoverage

We’re moving through this part pretty quickly. Already at least two potential jurors have said they followed this case “extensively” and have made up their minds about the case. #SieversTrial @winknews

The potential jurors that raised their hand to hearing about the Sievers case are being called back into the courtroom individually. The last two jurors said they’ve followed the case extensively and have already made up their minds about the case. They were excused. @winknews

Next juror said both read, internet and tv. His wife has been following the case, but has seen a lot since the beginning. Says he knows the picture that has been painted, that it might not be the right case for him. Thinks he could set aside the evidence. His house is all about true crime and he’s feeling he has already formulated opinions and it would be tough. Says he already feels the defense has a lot on their shoulders. Not sure he could give a blank slate in the interest of fairness. Stricken for cause.

Mark #Sievers seems to be taking extensive notes throughout jury selection. From what I’ve noticed, he mostly continues taking notes and rarely looks up at any potential jurors when they’re asked questions about what they know. #SieversTrial @winknews

Next juror is female, saw and read about it. She hasn’t been following the case a lot, but she knows it happened in bonita and the lady was hit in the head with a hammer. Doesn’t remember anything that would keep her from being fair in the trial. Defense asking about the jurors discussions in the back. She’s a social worker, married with no children. They don’t really watch the news and think she can be fair. Not being stricken. Come back tomorrow.

We have a Lee county schools bus attendant that is going to contact her employer to see if she can be paid during the trial. We have two students checking with teachers to see if they can’t work around missing class. A few jurors supposed to be double-checking with work/pay issues. We have a juror upset about missing a play at noon today in downtown Fort Myers. The judge is proposing for her to leave and come back tomorrow. They are allowing it.
Jury is back in.

I get it's disruptive to life, but they do not need a potential juror who's upset at missing a play, at this stage.

It's also maybe time to address the finance issue. Not many can afford a loss of earnings, especially for up to five weeks.

Next is a male, has seen and read about the case. Mostly the Rodgers trial recently. Doesn’t think anything he has seen would keep him from being fair. He spent 18 months on a federal jury. The info he already knows wouldn’t escape him but thinks he can try to be fair. Watches WINK news TV and internet regularly. Says he could “probably” give a clean slate in the trial. Strike for cause.

They are calling medical and check and see how he is doing. They may need to call jurors back in the afternoon. Going to wait a few minutes and see how he’s doing.
