This is sad. But I am sure we all can think of a few cases where the mental status of the missing was not mention. I hope Laura is off clearing her mind.

And it's better this way, I think. Because if she is just off "regrouping" (which I do not think she is), then that information could possibly taint people's perception of her and affect her in many ways.

Just my opinion (and I'm often wrong).

Local case for me. The BF seems very strange but yet again it could be suicide or self harm like in the case of Nicole Mittendorff.

Did anyone catch what the boyfriend said about it doesn't matter what trouble she was in they would fix it?

No, but that definitely indicates they think she is missing of her own choosing, along with police saying they don't suspect foul play, and no-commenting on her mental status.

I never been pregnant so this might be a stupid question, but do pregnant ladies go thru hormonal imbalances? I know about post partum, but is there such a thing a pre partum depression?

No foul pay suspected. That was most interesting.

Maybe a fight with the boyfriend? Report from neighbor was she left the house shortly after he left.
Problem with the pregnancy? Something happen?

I thought during the Q & A he was weird but thinking it was maybe because a- maybe he thinks she is listening and wants to make sure he says the right thing and b- maybe police told him there were certain things he shouldn't comment on

I think what I found the most strange was he didn't seem concerned about his baby or really even seen to allude that he was excited to have a baby with her.. idk

I think he was asked how long they have been dating and his response was something like we've known each other 10 years. Knowing someone and dating them aren't the same (unless they have been dating 10 years, but if so why so secretive about him on FB (calling him the cowboy instead of his name), or not living together?). They don't live together, which could be for a variety of different reasons.

But you are right, he didn't imply at all that he was excited just that he has gone to the appointments with her. Is it possible they are more of a friends with benefits sort of couple? Maybe he isn't excited about the baby.

Odd, she is excited for school. But all of a sudden she feels she could be in trouble? Now was the bf the only one who said that info about trouble? I hope I can rewatch this with better quality sounds.

I felt that maybe he did have some type of verbal fight, and could be the reason he didn't talk about the last conversation.

I didn't watch the presser because the volume quality tee'd me off right away. So, thank you Gardener for your excellent coverage of the Press Conference!

Her father had said early on that he thought someone was responsible for her disappearance. Does he still believe that someone has harmed her?

Very good point! And if she has a history of leaving, maybe there is a worry people won't look for her if they think she is doing this for attention or is crying wolf and will be back. That is definitely not a thought they want to put in peoples' minds.

I remember Nicole's case... so so sad! Another similar story is Jennifer Huston out of Dundee, Oregon in 2014. That one was local-ish to me.

I think the father came off as he does not believe she would leave on her own. He reiterated that she was excited for school, it was her number one joy (strange since she pregnant but school was the thing she seemed most excited for) and he was especially worried that she did not call in substitute, which he seemed to believe she would if she intended on not showing

My husband and I go to the Shenandoah every year. They closed our campground this year so we skipped. He thinks is because of the suicide, they want it to make it look completely different so people do not associate it with it.

Or maybe not. It was just weird they closed it the whole season.

I wonder if the dad would view someone as responsible for the disappearance if he/she said something that upset her and made Laura run away.

Yes. It's called prenatal (or antenatal) depression. Acutally surprisingly common but never spoken about. Lots of stigma.

Yes. It's called prenatal (or antenatal) depression. Surprisingly common but not regularly discussed because of the stigma. Everyone assumes pregnant ladies are happy and glowing but the hormonal changes can be debilitating.

Did anyone happen to catch spelling of BFs last name? It was mentioned in the press conference

According to the article quoted here:

http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2017/09/08/missing-pregnant-teacher-maryland-license-plate-car/

“She told me about her pregnancy and how tired she was. She hung her sonogram up on the refrigerator and she wouldn’t tell me what she was having, but she was telling me she was excited, and she was ready for another school year,” says former student Saquan Maxwell."

Which refrigerator is he talking about? Because if he is a former student meaning he graduated in May 2017 when did she hang the sonogram if she was 4 months pregnant (meaning she conceived in May 2017).? When can one get a sonogram?

Are teachers active during the summer? Do they meet with students or recent graduates?

Yes. Even without actual depression the first half of pregnancy can be very challenging physically and that can affect relationships and emotions drastically. I wasnt depressed while pregnant with my now 7mo but I felt just totally not like myself. EVERYTHING felt like a struggle.

*edited to change "was depressed" to "wasn't depressed"
