Boyfriend Arrested and Charged with Murder of Missing Olney Woman Laura Wallen:

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged Tyler Tessier, age 32 of Holsey Road in Damascus, with the first-degree murder of 31-year-old Laura Wallen of Rolling Meadow Way in Olney.

On the evening of Monday, September 4, Wallen’s sister reported Wallen as a missing person to the Montgomery County Police Department. Wallen’s sister stated that she last saw Laura on the evening of Friday, September 1, and despite numerous attempts, she and her parents had been unable to contact her since having a brief text conversation on Saturday, September 2. Wallen’s sister also informed detectives that Laura had a boyfriend, Tyler Tessier, and that Wallen was four-months pregnant with his child.

Investigators confirmed that Wallen, a teacher at a high school in Columbia, Maryland, did not arrive for the first day of school on September 5. They determined that the last known transaction on Wallen’s financial accounts was a debit card purchase at the Safeway store in Olney on September 2 between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. A review of store surveillance by detectives showed Wallen and Tessier making a purchase together. This was the last known sighting of Wallen. The last known message from Wallen’s phone was to her sister on the morning of Monday, September 4; detectives have determined that Tessier sent that text (a fact Tessier admitted during police questioning).

On Thursday, September 7, the Howard County Police Department informed MCPD that an employee of the Gramercy Place apartment complex in Columbia had located Wallen’s license in front of an apartment dumpster on September 4. After viewing a Facebook post regarding Wallen’s missing status, the employee realized he had located her license and called police. MCPD officers responded to the apartment complex, where they located Wallen’s vehicle, a 2011, black Ford Escape. The SUV was backed into a space and the front license plate had been removed. MCPD investigators seized the vehicle for forensic testing.

Between September 5 and 11, detectives interviewed Tessier multiple times. In each interview, he provided conflicting statements regarding Wallen’s disappearance. Tessier did make some admissions. He admitted that he is engaged to another woman. He also admitted that he drove Wallen’s vehicle to the apartment complex in Columbia, that he disposed of her phone and driver’s license in a dumpster, and that he had removed her license plate from her vehicle. Detectives located an acquaintance of Tessier who stated that Tessier had called her to give him a ride from the apartment complex where Wallen’s vehicle was located. Tessier asked the friend to lie if the police ever asked her about picking him up in Columbia.

On September 13, MCPD officers executed a search warrant on property located in the 12400 block of Prices Distillery Road in Damascus. The property, belonging to Tessier’s friend, includes a farm surrounded by acres of open fields and woods. Investigation had revealed that Tessier had been spending a great amount of time at the property after Wallen’s disappearance. During this search, the MCPD Search and Rescue team, assisted by cadaver dogs, located a freshly dug area of the ground in a field adjacent to the friend’s property; Wallen’s body was located buried in the ground. Her remains were recovered and sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. Investigators noted that a text conversation between Wallen and her sister on Saturday, September 2, included mention that Tessier was currently taking Wallen on an “adventure” in the country. Wallen texted a photo of a field that appears to be the same field where Wallen’s body was located.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, Tessier was arrested by MCPD officers in Hyattstown on the strength of a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. He was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning and transported to the Central Processing Unit. Bond review is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today in Rockville District Court.

I'm wondering the same thing. He had access to her phone to be able to send the text on Monday (about the baby not being his) -- so how did he not see the earlier texts? Where was he when she was texting her sister?

I'm sick to my stomach knowing she was standing in the field where she would be buried. He is a monster
I think he was setting up his defense. Come Monday he realizes his dumbass left too many clues so in case he gets busted " I took her to propose, she told me baby wasn't mine, I lost it" . Heat of passion.

CBS Baltimore has obtained the charging documents

He was engaged to Laura and another woman at the same time. He asked permition to marry Laura when he found out about the pregnancy. Was going to the dr. Appointments etc.

Scary and crazy. All along was he planning on killing her?

ETA: TT was engaged to another woman (named on the docs) and LW texted the other woman on August 28, 2017 to basically have a face off. Both women believe they were dating TT exclusively.

Wow he was not only living with the other woman, he was engaged to her. I wonder how she feels now.

She should go buy a lottery ticket because she's lucky as hell that she's not the dead one.

Trimming the links from your quote--I don't think those are necessarily the same guy. It would be really helpful to know his middle initial.

His middle name is Lewis, according to the Maryland Case Search website.

Snipped and bolded by me.

I would really like to know what time this text conversation occurred. I know in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change the outcome, but I'm curious...

So devastating.

Rest in peace Ms. Wallen & baby Wallen:heartbeat:

:crying:

the fetus isn't viable at 4 months though.

It looks like Maryland is a "partial-coverage unborn victim" state according to this site:

http://www.ncsl.org/research/health/fetal-homicide-state-laws.aspx

Md. Criminal Law Code Ann. § 2-103 establishes that a prosecution may be instituted for murder or manslaughter of a viable fetus as defined in Md. Health-General Code Ann. § 20-209. A person prosecuted for murder or manslaughter must have intended to cause the death of the viable fetus; intended to cause serious physical injury to the viable fetus; or wantonly or recklessly disregarded the likelihood that the person’s actions would cause the death of or serious physical injury to the viable fetus. (2005 Md. Laws, Chap. 546)

she texted her sister on the 2nd that he had taken her to a field... did he chicken out that day? how awful wtf

She says he had her waiting in a field!

Was he digging her grave while she waited?

Good Lord!

I don't think it has to due with luck. The other woman is probably not pregnant. I hope she feels lucky, however, and gets out of this relationship! Hope she's not one to "Stand by her man" after this.

I feel he is like Scott Peterson and the real reason for the killing was the fact you might be able to hide a relationship but you cannot hide a baby.

Will they do a paternity test if he says the baby is not his?

I doubt it but he could still try to claim that she told him she THOUGHT it was this other guys.. but we know that's impossible because Laura hasn't seen him (the ex) in 2 years according to the charging documents

I remember reading on her jewelry page that she loved purple amethyst (I can't find the link right now but will post it as soon as I can) it was her favorite gem; and the charging document state there was a piece of purple fabric (she was wearing a purple top the day she disappeared) was sticking up from the shallow grave. Ugh. That really got to me.

I wonder what the woman he was living with thought when she saw the press conference?! Did she know about Laura? Reminds me of Scott Peterson for sure.

He could have easily just told Laura he didn't want anything to do with she and the baby, I'm sure she would have been sad but fine. She was a professional with a good career and supportive family, she would have been able to raise her baby without him.

He would still be liable for child support at any point down the line. As he should have been. I thnk his biggest motive was that. Jmo
