Wow, thank you for posting this. Great article which clarifies a number of things. I will revise the timeline accordingly.

"The last person to see her was a tow truck driver who was headed north, and saw Heinig walking in the breakdown lane away from her 2008 Mercury Mariner."

I also wanted to add this graphic from the article:

MOO
Well now, that is interesting that a tow truck driver was the last to see her. Obviously they weren't there for her car.

Police expanding search for missing Richmond woman

Was this the same tow truck driver who came back hours later to tow her vehicle? BBM

"The family learned that Heinig’s vehicle — which was registered to her parents in Harpswell — was towed from I-295 a few hours after someone last saw Heinig walking away from the SUV. Anne said she believes Maine State Police asked for the car to be towed from the highway, but is puzzled as to why no one tried to contact her or her husband, whose names are on the registration paperwork."

Points in article that worry me: 1( She missed Thanksgiving. 2) She missed her daughter's 16th birthday day-at-the-spa. 3) Her mom does not know why she was traveling or where she was going.

Heinig’s mother, Anne Heinig, of Harpswell, said she did not know why her daughter was heading toward Portland Nov. 26, and is puzzled by her disappearance.

“I had last spoken to her on Monday,” Anne Heinig said. “She was in a great mood.”

So I am guessing that her work is not in that direction, if her Mom doesn't know why she was heading to Portland. Why would she go that way at that time of the morning, if it wasn't for work? It doesn't sound like she was going to meet anyone for breakfast or head to a doctor's appointment.

I am torn about this being self harm. I know what's been posted on her FB, but I've seen folks post cheerful things on theirs and later commit suicide, so that isn't always an indicator of someone's mental health. I just don't want to assume that she harmed herself in any way until she is found.

I posted up thread something from FB that can't be discussed here- I wish her family would address that. It's bugging me enough to make me question things.

I can't believe that no one else has come forward and said that they saw her walking- just the tow truck driver. I also find it interesting that her mother wasn't contacted about her car being towed, as she was borrowing her Mom's vehicle. The reporter made a comment about their phone numbers being easily accessible, to which the person they interviewed hung up on them.

Anneliese, where are you........

slight shades of Aubrey Corona’s case...
How so? I really don't see any similarities, to be honest with you. Anneliese wasn't lost and was walking in well trafficked area. She didn't call for help and she was seen walking north by a tow truck driver but hasn't been seen ever since. We don't know that Anneliese was disoriented in any way- no mention of that in any articles.

Agree, and unfortunately, the snow is starting up again up here- we're supposed to get another 3-5 inches tonight, my daughter told me just a few minutes ago! Ugh! Prayers for the searchers and LE out in this.

You’re right, Steelslady. There is more of this storm to come, which will make searching difficult and riskier than it already is.just can’t imagine how miserable the water searches are, and looking alongside a highway during a snowstorm is soooo dangerous. I give our first responders so much credit, but I am concerned for their safety... stay warm! Hope this snow event won’t be too bad!!

I know- supposedly, we're in the eye of this storm right now- it's not snowing at the moment but heading here soon. Such a tough time to have to go out and search! Snow covers everything, making footprints disappear as well as covering evidence of her if she's out there. A very difficult time to search for a missing person. My thoughts are with them all.

When you say that you posted something upthread, do you mean here on WS? Was it deleted? Just trying to find what you are referring to.

Thanks. So little to see there as it's limited to "friends". I agree that's a concerning comment.

It kind of sounds as though she may not have custody of her kids or they were staying elsewhere when she disappeared.

Poor babies :(
I am reading from behind so this may be covered and I have yet to read.

One of the local news articles said says AH had two children: a 16 year old girl that lives with her and a five year old boy that lives nearby with father, they have regular contact as co-parent 5 year old. AH had plans for a spa-day with 16 year old daughter for the daughter's birthday present.

If the car ran out of gas, causing her to get out and start walking, then how could the parents drive it to the gas station? I'm not buying all the information provided. I think LE should talk to that tow truck driver again. And I'm curious why LE is hanging up on reporters instead of providing information.

Police expand search for Maine woman missing for nearly a week

"Investigators said the expanded search came after receiving new information, but they would not elaborate."

--------------------

"Right now we're just partnering with all our local resources to exhaust all our efforts to make sure that we're searching her last known whereabouts as methodically as possible. In order to find someone, sometimes it's important to find where they're not," Falmouth police Lt. Jeffrey Pardue said.

Really curious what that new information is that they’re working with. I’m torn now on what to think.

I think describing the area might be helpful to some: it's a relatively flat and very long stretch of highway with excellent visibility on both north and southbound sides, with each side having clear sight to the other. The area off the side on the SB side has pretty thick foliage/forest, but has residential/industrial area not far on the other side of the trees. The bridge in question isn't very high at all - maybe 20 ft over the water, which is the end of a river that flows into the ocean. The ocean right there is basically a large bay and is pretty shallow. It's pretty marshy for a short stretch before reaching the ocean. That stretch is also heavily traveled and I'd imagine a large number of people saw her walking at that time.

Rsbm......
A few things here to consider. First, a website (which I'm not sure I can name) shows her with a job in Brunswick, ME and I'm thinking she wouldn't work as far south as Portland if she lives in Richmond.
Second, I'm really puzzled by the FB comment that we can't explicitly discuss. I'm inclined to believe the comment is inaccurate because I don't see how it fits with the facts of the case unless the tow truck driver witness saw someone other than Anneliese.
Third, regardless of how the car ended up on 295 - whether it be part of a self-harm scenario or a pre-planned crime, I don't understand parking the car (with cell phone) on what appears to be a very visible and well travelled road. It's not a logical thing to do which leads me to wonder if we're dealing with a missing person who was, unfortunately, at wits end and not thinking clearly.
All and all, it's about as clear as mud I'm still hoping she jumped on a bus headed south to take a break....but I can't see her doing that after making plans with her 16 year old. Ugh - no easy answers here.

I agree, there should be someone else out there that saw her walking, but no one else has come forward that I have seen.

I also can't picture anyone jumping in the water without being seen, especially at that time of day. Then again, we've seen stranger things happen here on WS.
