Lisa, you are correct - he did respond directly on the new 'hfjcfs' page - I believe it was yesterday morning, but it was removed (IMO by JR himself). It was to the effect of 'shame on you' etc. but only two sentences, not the paragraph that was posted today. Edit: I think the new paragraph was a direct mail that the page manager posted on the new Help Find Jenny Chen from Seattle FB page. Like so many have commented, he sure does rub you the wrong way - his tone, responses, deleting message, lack of honesty, funding page... all of it. I hope JC will be found safe.
Welcome! Just to caution newcomers and all of us, me included, I suspect that the HFJCS page would not be a mod-approved page because it attacks JR, so we probably can't comment on the content. Jenny's personal FB page is OK, but probably only Jenny's comments, not the outsider's. It's interesting to read, of course, but anything said there by someone other than Jenny is considered rumor. The Find Jenny page run by her husband is also OK. We probably are walking a fine TOS line if we comment on anything other than what JR says...although we've all done it! :) We can't directly quote or show screenshots...just summarize.http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?291123-Social-Media-Facebook-Twitter-etc
I just clued the admin of the 'other' Find Jenny site about WS. Hoping she joins. ^^ This doesn't violate anything in the TOS, does it?
I don't think inviting her violates TOS, but every word she says on FB does, so she'd have to reel it in here on WS. :D Or she and Dex could go off and chat in a corner (sorry Dex, I couldn't resist. Forgive me?). :loveyou:

This case is complicated by Jenny being a Chinese citizen who lived in the States and disappeared from Mexico, her marriage being a bit unusual, and by her hubby's behavior reading to many of us as extremely off and abrasive. I keep trying to remind myself that there are a lot of socially awkward weirdos out there, and being a weirdo doesn't make someone a murderer. Sometimes people close to those who are missing have personalities that rub me the wrong way, which rings as "hinky" to me but turns out to be a coincidence. I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point but I do think there's a very good chance Jenny got into a scary situation through her own naivete and that her husband's handling of the search has seemed weird simply because he's kind of a strange egg (and perhaps because their marriage was unconventional) and not because he harmed her. MOO.

I really wish we knew what her family was thinking about all of this.

I agree that he didn't harm her. Behaving oddly is not a crime. And I too wish we could hear from Jenny's parents. I can't imagine how difficult this is for them to navigate.

Your first sentence perfectly summarizes the complicated nature of this case. I would add to your comment about Jenny getting into a scary situation through her own naïveté, that her determination to face her fears, even after almost being raped, escalated her naïveté to a level even more dangerous. I don't mean this as blaming the victim, just as an observation about Jenny's interaction with the real world. It's a jungle out there. JMO

It was posted that her parents did seek out information to find her. I am not sure why the parents and him are not joining together to find her. Also, I don't understand why they are only going on this one witness and this one guy/truck. I don't think he will admit to picking her up even if he did...then what? I wish if she did get in the truck she would have posted the truck pic on her journal. ...and maybe she was intending to at the end of the ride.
Just my rambling thoughts at 5a.m. minus coffee.

When I looked at it a day or two ago, he had already collected $8000.

Agree. But most of these cases in the United States where hubby is miles away; You atleast have fbi doing phone pings to collaborate that hubby didn't fly or drive somewhere and then kill and then drive back. Jmo.

So we don't have that luxury in this case to actually know whether he did secretly go down there prior to the 15th and then come back.

We also don't know if he knew someone in Mexico and hired them to do this. Jmo.

Scott Peterson was fishing and Mark Sievers was states away. Atleast until the fbi or leo started investigating them and found out different things.

But in this case. No one can clear hubby because no one in the United States is trying to due to the circumstances in play. Jmo

True. But with a couple of phone calls, I imagine LE could verify whether either of them traveled to or from Mexico on a commercial airliner unless they used fake ID. idk.

Jenny was doing a good job documenting her trip on social media at first. But she stopped verbally documenting around the 9th I think. And only posted pics up to the 11th.

So that seems strange that she doesn't mention leaving the last family house as she embarked on her new adventure on the 12th supposedly to head to Cancun or wherever.

I would have had cadaver or search dogs at that last house instead of taking the word of whomever.

Jmo.

You make good points, Lisa, even without coffee at 5:00 a.m. :) I can understand why JR is trying to find out about the truck driver, out of desperation, but as you said...even if the driver admits to picking her up, then what? He might say he dropped her off somewhere. Is he telling the truth or sending them on a wild goose chase? Or if he denies picking her up, how will JR's team know if he is telling the truth? They can't take the truck and look for evidence of Jenny's presence. They are not LE. Without probable cause, and perhaps bribes, LE isn't going to do it IMO. I guess JR's team will cross that bridge when they come to it.

Jenny mentions being skeptical of others after the police robbed her of $300 for the helmet ticket.

So she wasn't too naive at that point.

But imo. The close kidnapping sounds like a lie. Jmo. Because she never mentioned not 1 detail of where or how things played out.

If 2 cartel members couldn't kidnap little Jenny. Then they were not cartel.

Plus she would have at least stated how she got away or how the actual attempt went down. Jmo.

It was too vague of a post and obviously she never explained it to hubby since he clarifies the notepad was a shopkeeper but not how Jenny got away.

Just to clarify, what Jenny had written was: "Today I almost got raped by two cartel Mexican man by hitch hiking in deep mountain."

True, that infers that they would have overtaken her without her will, but the intent would be to rape her, not kidnap her, according to what she wrote.

I agree that there should have been more investigation into the last place she stayed, which I believe was Juchitan, not Oaxaca City. It's hard to know if LE cleared the host or if JR's PI did. Her last post was of a bus being cleaned in Oaxaca City. I think she was always a little behind real time in her posts.

Yes, and anyway, the police probably already talked to the truck driver months ago, and got what ever information he had.

Agree. She may have recapped things a day later during her trip.

Plus in all honesty. Jenny may have just ran away. Maybe she hitchhiked back to the United States border via Texas or California and decided against the Cancun hubby meet up.

Also maybe she decided not to use her passport for Cuba and decided to go to New York. Idk.

But maybe hubby should spend money to have a specialist analyze her communications on her computers and phones that she had before the trip.

Maybe Jenny was communicatingwith others with a plan prior to her trip. Jmo.

Now as of now. I can't say that Jonathan is guilty of anything.

But if he was truly on a honest note. You think he would also post here and not just on a Facebook page where only the same 5 people say good luck or whatever.

He specifically said that he wanted the word out. Plus specifically gives updates on what he knows.

But still no update of how Jennys family had a productive talk with the Chinese Embassy.

Now they may think she is still hiking. And he may disagree and feel Corona driver is the best lead. Which could be understandable.

But he tells his 5 followers that its just him and his team that are the only ones looking and can use more money.

But his flock still may not know that Jennys family has boots on the ground as well.

Which is very odd even if he doesn't like the path they are taking. Jmo
