I saw the whole mouthing " I love you". That weasel is trying to make sure his wife stays loyal to the story so that, if any deals are to be made, he gets to save his own *advertiser censored* first. IMO. They did not look, to me, like folks that believe they have done nothing wrong.

Oxford adding security measures, delaying high school reopening (detroitnews.com)

Oxford — Increased safety measures are being put in place in the Oxford school district, including a permanent police presence, trauma counselors in every building, safe rooms operated by a crisis team and therapy dogs.

Meeting for the first time since a deadly shooting in their high school took the lives of four students on Nov. 30, the Oxford Board of Education on Tuesday heard how the district is adjusting operations from Jill Lemond, an assistant superintendent of student services...

It looked as if Jehn's attorney asked her to pull her mask over her nose at one stage. But Jehn just pulled it up a little and it still did not cover her nose. James even had his mask down under his lips which enabled him to talk to Jehn.

I also noticed that Jehn's leg was shaking.

Very defiant against authority. Most people are terrified to upset a judge.
No wonder their teen has issues.
Jehn seems to have run-ins with the law.

Community given time to speak at Oxford school board’s first meeting since shooting: ‘I am absolutely devastated’ (clickondetroit.com)

School board outlines safety measures in aftermath of mass shooting

OXFORD, Mich. – Tuesday marked exactly two weeks since four students were killed and seven people were injured in a shooting at Oxford High School.

Oxford Community Schools were closed during the day after school officials were notified about a threat directed at the middle school on Monday (Dec. 13). The building was cleared by authorities and a school board meeting went on as scheduled.

School officials said they still don’t have a date for the reopening of the high school. They said they have a goal of getting students back into the classroom as soon as possible. School leaders said officials in school districts that have experienced shootings said that is what’s best for students. The high school will not be ready by Jan. 3 or Jan 4., as officials had initially hoped...

I would NOT want to return to the scene of a bloody mass murder. It would cause PTSD.
Not sure I would trust this board to protect me or my child since they failed before.

I agree with you about the board.

I wouldn't want to return either, but unless the school gives them a virtual option, or a parent takes the kid out and puts them in a private school or other school, I'm not sure there is a choice.

It took me a while, but I watched the entire board meeting (linked in my post #348 above). I'm not at all impressed with the Board president but will refrain from commenting. After listening to a number of parents address the board about the shooting incident, it is obvious that there are a lot of communication issues between school administrators, Board of Education members, and the community that they serve. There is a serious lack of transparency in the actions and decisions of administrators and board members, and parents have lost trust in the district's ability to act in the best interests of their children. The Michigan State football program opened the early signing period on Wednesday by honoring Tate Myre, one of four students killed in a Nov. 30 shooting at Oxford High School.

Myre, who was a junior running back/tight end on the Oxford football team, was named an honorary member of the Michigan State 2022 football recruiting class...

Mel Tucker: ‘Tate is, and always will be, a Spartan Dawg’

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker announced Wednesday that Oxford High School shooting victim Tate Myre has been named an honorary “Spartan Dawg” for next year’s 2022 team.

Myre, 16, was among four students killed Nov. 30 when a classmate opened fire inside the high school. Myre played football for the high school with aspirations of playing in college. He is now remembered as a hero who tried to stop the shooter, ultimately giving up his own life while trying to save others...

Oxford school shooting: Michigan congresswoman to introduce bill requiring secure firearm storage in homes

upload_2021-12-15_17-23-17.pngU.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who represents the district where the shooting took place, said Wednesday she will propose a law requiring firearms to be safely stored and kept out of the hands of children.

The Michigan congresswoman's legislation, called the "Safe Guns, Safe Kids Act," would require gun owners to safely secure firearms in living situations in which children could access the weapons. It would also impose a penalty of up to five years imprisonment if a child accesses a firearm and injures himself or others as a result.

The law would apply to children who get a hold of firearms and hurt themselves or others — not only in school shootings but in home shootings and other incidents of violent crime.

Gun owners can secure their firearms with $10 gun locks or gun safes, as well as in areas of the home that can be secured away from children.

Earlier attempts to pass similar legislation have failed, however, and Slotkin's bill would face difficulties with the Senate evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans even if it were to pass in the U.S. House.

Constitutional questions have also been raised about the legitimacy of gun storage requirements under the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Slotkin didn't say when she would introduce the legislation and her office didn't immediately provide the written text of the proposal.

I don't really think this is the group to shepherd this community. The fact that they have not communicated except by email and have not included families in the process what will happen going forward is massively tone deaf to what students and parents need. JMHO.

Key phrase of "We will not let this tragedy define us." is unfortunate. I think accepting that this event does define them AND requires a community engagement to begin the transforming process, one that holds those killed and sets a clear path for a safer and proactive future within all levels of leadership and transparency for all constituents.

They razed the Sandy Hook building and built a new state of the art secure building on a different site.

In his opening remarks prior to the unscheduled participation of audience members (Part 2 of board meeting linked in post #348), the Board President cautions the audience: "This is not a dialogue. Don't ask us questions. We're not going to answer." Under this administration, parents have not been included in the decisions or policies that daily impact their children. If they do attend school board meetings to express concerns, they are told that they can't ask questions and won't be answered if they do. The Superintendent sets the tone in the school district. Moving forward, Oxford Community Schools needs someone new at the helm who will guide the elected officials of the Board of Education to more openness and transparency in the district. Parents are angry, justifiably so, that they have no say in the education of their children. JMO
