Saw a missing poster for Brittany in Goose Creek, SC . . . the ones like this always tug at my heartstrings so I figured I'd come bump her thread.

There is a man who lived in Constantine at the time that Jodi Parrack was murdered, who liked to try to get little girls alone. Danial Kevin Furlong was arrested Wednesday, two weeks after a 10-year-old girl alleged he invited her into his home’s garage at Colonial Estates Mobile Home Park, then pinned her against his car, attempted to restrain her with extension cords and threatened her with a steak knife. They are testing his DNA against the DNA found on Jodi.

He lives in White Pigeon now but I wonder where he lived when Brittany was taken. It is all very close. Jodi and Brittany were both last seen riding bikes in Southwestern Michigan.

Daniel Kevin Furlong's DNA is a match to evidence found on Jodi Parrack's clothing and body. They really need to look at him for Brittany's disappearance.

They are investigating the possible connection!

"Sturgis police work to see if Furlong has connection to Brittney Beers disappearance"

http://www.wwmt.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/Sturgis-police-work-to-see-if-Furlong-has-connection-to-Brittney-Beers-disappearance-205502.shtml#.Vfj5FhFViko

Sturgis Police tell Newschannel 3, they are trying to find out if the man who is accused of murdering Jodi Parrack, may have a connection to Beers.

Sturgis Police say since the arrest of 65-year-old Daniel Furlong last week, they've been talking with Michigan State Police and Constantine Police to see if there is any connection to Brittney Beers.

Her family tells Newschannel3 tonight, that it's uncanny how the composite sketch of the suspect from 18 years ago looks a lot like Daniel Furlong.

Nothing new that I can find, except he did live not just in the area BUT in the same town as Brittany. Here is a story from 9/16/15:

“We believe he (Furlong) was in the area at the time, but nothing right now points to him in the Beers case other than the fact he’s being charged in the murder of another young girl,” Smith said.

(But he lived in the same town as Brittany at the same time and that town is SMALL, it has to be him):

“They (Furlong and McCann) both lived in Constantine at the time,” Christensen said. “At this point, geography is the only thing connecting them. I can’t go into what we’re still pursuing.”

LE is not sure the reward is still active and are checking into it.

Is the man who confessed to 2007 killing involved in 1997 mystery?

http://fox17online.com/2015/11/20/is-the-man-who-confessed-to-2007-killing-involved-in-1997-mystery/

In exchange for the guilty plea, Furlong has to submit himself to polygraph tests on other cases. Investigators say they will ask Furlong more about Beers next week. So far, Furlong has denied any involvement in the Beers case.

A sketch from 1997 appears to show some similarities to Furlong. Parrack was killed in Constantine, which is not far from Sturgis in southern Michigan.

Family's response to the deal made with Furlong. Paula Zimmerman is Brittany's grandmother.

"I don't think it's right, because if he has something to do with that disappearance, that murder of that child, I mean they're not gonna get their life back, why should he just get one life sentence," Zimmerman said.

And while time has tempered her feelings, Zimmerman says ultimately, she just wants closure.

"Hopefully he would tell them something they didn't know, and maybe she could be found, her bones or any information would be better than nothing," she said.

Zimmerman says the family has devoted years in trying to find Brittney, and say they look to this as their last hope.

It really doesn't matter about how many life sentences he gets, he will never get out. Michigan doesn't have the death penalty so there is no further punishment for him.

New article about Furlong he had Both a brother and a sister living in Sturgis at the time of Brittney's dissapearance:

They say his brother lived there, but that the two had nothing to do with each other. Target 8 also found he had a sister in Sturgis in the 1990s -- living for a time on John D Court, around the corner from where Brittney disappeared. City directories show she lived there in 1995, but list an address about two miles away in 1997.

Both the sister and other relatives refused to comment.

I also wonder about Steven Craft, could he have taken him too? He had longish blonde hair, maybe he thought he was a girl?

LE says Furlong lied while taking polygraph where he was asked questions about Brittany. His answers and body language gave LE officer a "bad gut feeling". There is some connection to Furlong as he hung out at the Mottville Speedway where his wife worked and Brittany's father raced.
From the article:
Ironically, Jodi Parrack's grandfather, Tom Pearson, also worked there and knew Daniel Furlong.

"I think after he realized I was Jodi's grandpa, he quit talking to me," Pearson said.

Parrack killer labeled as person-of-interest in Brittney Beers disappearance

http://www.wsbt.com/news/local/cold-case-parrack-killer-labeled-as-personofinterest-in-brittney-beers-disappearance/38196682

Almost 19 years after Brittney Beers disappeared, the Sturgis Police Department developed its first “significant lead” after a killer’s confession.

Jodi Parrack’s convicted killer, 65-year-old Daniel Furlong, admitted to strangling the girl in 2007 then “dumping” her body in a Constantine cemetery.

The similarities in the two cases were raising “red flags” according to Sturgis Police Chief Geoff Smith, who was a responding officer the night Brittney disappeared.

“There are only two things that make him a person of interest,” said Smith. “One, he’s capable. Two, he looks like the composite of the person Brittney was possibly last seen talking to.”

Police say the remains were found by a construction crew around 11 a.m. Tuesday in the area of S. Nottawa and Bogen roads.

Geoffrey Smith with the Sturgis Department of Public Safety says that remains appear to be very old, maybe as old as 100 years.

When asked about Brittney Beers, a local 6-year-old girl who has been missing since 1997, he said that it appears that the remains are older.
