TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities identified Carl Francis Brant, 55, as the man killed in a Rapid City fire.

Brant's body was found inside a mobile home at 5360 South St. in Rapid City on Friday at 6:40 a.m., according to a release from the Kalkaska County Sheriff's Department. The body will be autopsied to determine the cause of death...

Spellbound, is this Mrs. Bruck's brother?

Chelsea's obituary indicates that her mother, Leannda's maiden name is Brant, so the deceased man could be Mrs. Bruck's brother.

As far as I know, yes this is her brother.
 
Thoughts and prayers for the Brant and Bruck families. I hope Mr. Brant was not a victim of foul play. Very sad if he perished in an accidental fire. :(

Yes, it is very sad if he did, BDE. I had the same thought. The difference between unlucky and unjust would be huge, I imagine, for the Brant and the Bruck, who continue to wait for justice for Chelsea.

Thoughts and prayers for their well being, safety and strength through this.

Thank you, BDE, for the obituary of Frank Brant, Mrs. Bruck's brother and Chelsea's Uncle. It's feels numbing, even from afar. I can't imagine how the Chelsea's family feels. I am so very sorry and full of regret that this happened to their family member.

Maybee’s wounds fresh 2 years after Bruck’s slaying

Maybee — After more than two years, purple ribbons still hang from town utility poles, sturdy pillars draped with heartbreak.

The strips, now faded, were there during a six-month search for a 22-year-old woman who vanished after a raucous Halloween party in 2014.

They were there when Chelsea Bruck’s badly beaten body was found under a clump of leaves and branches last year.

And they remained last month when the case against the man charged with killing her was moved to circuit court for trial...

This is probably the best and most concise explanation to date of what might have happened when Chelsea left the Halloween concert/party. I suppose we'll never really know exactly what transpired in the wee hours before Chelsea met her fate. I'm sure her friends probably wish they'd acted differently that night and made certain that their friend left the party with them. Rest in peace, dearest Chelsea :rose: Justice is coming.

TRIAL DATE SET

Monroe County Circuit Judge Daniel S. White set aside four days, May 8 through 11, for a jury trial for Mr. Clay, 28, who has been charged with murder and disposing of a corpse. Although four days have been set aside, it is possible the trial could last longer.

A trial date for the breakin and sexual assault will be determined at a later date, said Monroe County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Michael G. Roehrig.
Mr. Clay is expected back in court on Feb. 10 for a pretrial conference involving both the murder and sexual cases and CSC cases.

Right? And what guy has a mirror handy? I don't even carry one around. Or did he yank off a mirror from his car? Ughhhhh. I can't even fathom what more comes out in the trials. Impatiently waiting.
