Well dang, Larry Nassar's ex-boss is a perverted whacko too. No wonder Nassar was given preferential treatment despite the complaints against him.

Cops: Boss had Nassar treatment video, *advertiser censored* on computer

Lansing — Larry Nassar’s former boss used his position at Michigan State University to harass, discriminate, proposition, sexually assault and solicit pornographic videos of female students, investigators said Tuesday as they announced criminal charges against William Strampel.

Strampel, the former dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine who took medical leave in December, is also accused of failing to enforce or monitor protocols put in place for Nassar in 2014 after a female patient alleged inappropriate sexual conduct, and authorities say he allowed Nassar to return to work one month before MSU completed a Title IX investigation...

DETROIT (Reuters) - A former Michigan State University dean, who supervised the doctor at the center of the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal, was himself charged on Tuesday with criminal sexual conduct involving medical school students

A medical student at the school had accused William Strampel, the 70-year-old former dean of its College of Osteopathic Medicine, of forcible sexual contact, prosecutors said in papers filed in state district court in East Lansing. Prosecutors said other students also accused Strampel of various incidents of sexual misconduct.

Here's an excerpt from Rachael Denhollander's victim impact statement where she mentions William Strampel, and his cavalier attitude:

When I came forward in 2016... I brought evidence of two more women unconnected to me who were also claiming sexual assault. And I have the names of three pelvic floor experts willing to speak on my behalf. And the MSPD handled it beautifully, but MSU officials were a different story, because the response of Dean William Strampel was to send an email to Larry that day and tell him, quote, good luck, I am on your side. And when my video testimony to the Indy Star came out, graphically describing the abuse that Larry perpetrated disclosing horrific details to the world that no one was ever supposed to know that I had never told anyone, even my own husband, until that point, Dean Strampel forwarded that video testimony to the MSU provost, and he locked it. He called it the cherry on the cake of his day.

Larry Nassar's former boss accused of sexually assaulting female students

By Eric Levenson, Linh Tran and Jean Casarez, CNN
Updated 5:29 PM ET, Tue March 27, 2018

(CNN)Larry Nassar's former boss at Michigan State University used his power to sexually assault, harass, and solicit nude photos from female students, according to a criminal complaint.

William Strampel, the former dean of MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been charged with one felony count of misconduct in office and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for his own actions as dean from 2002 to 2018, according to court documents.

The 70-year-old also faces two misdemeanor charges of willful neglect of duty related to his failure to properly oversee Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics doctor who admitted to sexually abusing young girls for decades, court documents state.

The criminal complaint details statements from four female students who described disturbing instances of Strampel's abuse of power as dean. According to the document, Strampel asked for nude photos and sexual favors, he groped women's buttocks at official events, and demeaned the way they dressed.

In one 2013 incident, the complaint says, Strampel allegedly told a female student she needed to learn her place in life, and asked her, "What do I have to do to teach you to be submissive and subordinate to men?" ...

Firm bills MSU $500K to track Nassar coverage

East Lansing — Michigan State University spent roughly $500,000 for a public relations firm in January to track media coverage and social media activity related to the case of disgraced former sports doctor Larry Nassar, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

New York-based Weber Shandwick billed the university $517,343 for 1,440 hours of work done by 18 employees, according to documents obtained by the Lansing State Journal through a public records request.

The firm outlined and evaluated related news coverage and engagement on social media posts. The work previously had been done by university employees, though some of that continued alongside the outside firm’s work...

MSU coach backed Nassar nearly until the end

The night before Christy Lemke planned to report Larry Nassar for sexually abusing her daughter, she first called Michigan State University gymnastics coach Kathie Klages.

What she heard in that January 2017 phone call astonished her. Four months after MSU fired Nassar, Klages passionately defended the doctor, suggesting that he was performing a legitimate medical procedure and had been framed with the child *advertiser censored* found on a hard drive placed at his curb, Lemke said.

Yet just three weeks later, MSU’s 27-year gymnastics coach broke from her decades of loyalty to Nassar and told police that the physician had deceived her, according to records obtained by The Detroit News...

What a shame that a school that was thought to be one of our best has been dirtied by all this. I inagine it will be a long time before they regain respect. So much cleaning needs to be done. It is unfair to all the students who have and will attend here.

Once again, thank you for all the updates, BDE. It is important we do not let this slide into the background.

Ex-MSU dean’s review shows disturbing characterization

Many people affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine regarded former Dean William Strampel as a visionary leader and a well-spoken champion of the school.

But in a review of his performance, evaluations from multiple faculty, staff and students also paint a disturbing portrait of a man who flaunted his sexuality and inappropriately commented about others: He had a tendency to put a sexual or crude spin on conversations, make comments about the appearance of women and look at their breasts while talking with them.

He also bragged of sexual conquests to students and predicted that he could have been Michigan’s governor if it hadn’t been for his affairs...

I am consistently appalled at these reports coming out. There is no excuse for this to have gone on for so long. A lot more hesds will likely be rolling before we get done.

House: ‘Alarming’ findings in MSU, Nassar inquiry

Lansing — Larry Nassar was able to brazenly abuse women for decades because Michigan State University failed to properly pursue complaints, destroyed vital documents and allowed the disgraced doctor to exploit loopholes in university policies to avoid scrutiny, Michigan House lawmakers said Thursday.

A months-long inquiry by the House into how MSU handled accusations of sexual assault by the former gymnastics doctor produced “alarming” findings that were forwarded to the attorney general’s office for further investigation.

While some of those findings remain under wraps because of an ongoing criminal investigation, bipartisan committee leaders disclosed several significant findings in a letter to House Speaker Tom Leonard, highlighting failures by MSU...

Nassar victims, parents to protest to MSU board

In the photo, she’s wearing a barrette in her hair, smile on her face and the innocence of an 11-year-old girl.

It’s an image of Alex Bourque, now 27. Bourque and her mother, Tammy Bourque-Stemas, will be holding an 8-by-10-inch version of it Friday morning outside the Hannah Administration Building at Michigan State University.

She will be joined by many other parents whose children were sexually assaulted by Larry Nassar, and hope to send a message through their presence and children’s photos as the Board of Trustees meet on Friday...

Nassar victim says Engler offered $250K to settle suit

East Lansing -- Michigan State University's interim president and Board of Trustees faced angry victims of Larry Nassar, their parents and supporters during a tumultuous meeting Friday that exposed how raw emotions remain as the university struggles to cope with the sex abuse scandal's aftermath.

Addressing the trustees, Nassar victim Kaylee Lorincz, 18, accused Interim President John Engler of secretly trying to settle her civil suit against MSU for $250,000 without her attorney being present.

Lorincz said Engler made the offer during a meeting when she and her mother, Lisa, signed up to speak at Thursday's meeting. She said she told him what had happened to her and how she hoped to help MSU heal and "make real change." ...

A ribbon dangles from the bow, with a name written on it: Krista Wakeman.

A few feet away, another tree is wrapped in a teal bow with a ribbon and a name: Jessica Chedler Rodriguez. Still another few feet away, another tree with a teal bow, ribbon and name: Kaylee McDowell...
