Case against ex-MSU dean William Strampel will head to trial

District Court judge has ruled that there's enough evidence for the case against former Michigan State University dean William Strampel to move to the trial court level.

Three women testified during the hearing that lasted more than five hours. Two described Strampel indirectly propositioning them for sex during meetings. A third said Strampel groped her at a public event and made sexual comments about her on several occasions. A digital forensic expert testified that Strampel had a hidden camera outside his office, though the jduge wouldn't allow a video from the camera as evidence.

Strampel also faces the sexual assault charge and a two counts of willful neglect of duty related to actions during and after Nassar's 2014 Title IX investigation.

He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Larry Nassar charged with sex assault in Texas

Huntsville, Texas – Disgraced ex-sports doctor Larry Nassar and a former trainer were charged with sexual assault Friday following an investigation involving an elite gymnastics center in Texas.

A grand jury indicted Nassar on six counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, Walker County prosecutor Stephanie Stroud announced during a news conference. She said a former trainer, Debbie Van Horn, was charged with one count...
 
MSU fights search warrant in Nassar inquiry

Michigan State University has filed a motion to quash a search warrant served against it by the Michigan Attorney General's Office as part of an investigation into the school's handling of sexual abuse allegations against disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar.

The search warrant was served this week after special prosecutor William Forsyth had threatened to obtain it for documents he said the university is "wrongfully withholding" that relate to the investigation.

But MSU said the documents the attorney general wants are privileged, and filed its motion to quash the warrant Thursday in Ingham County's 54-B District Court...

"According to many Team USA athletes and Olympic athletes, they have reported that the Karolyis ran their Ranch with an iron fist and the conditions were dreadful. The fact that the Karolyis had one convicted and one alleged sex offender working with children at their Ranch calls into question the statement by the SDA’s office that that they did nothing wrong. Bela and Marta Karolyi won't be charged in sex assault probe: prosecutor

Texas prosecutor says no charges will be filed against Bela and Marta Karolyi in sex assault probe at elite gymnastics ranch.

Nassar faces six counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child. A former trainer, Debbie Van Horn, was charged with one count. The charges stem from an investigation at the gymnastics training center run by the Karolyis north of Houston.
