MSU moves to dismiss lawsuits of 100+ Nassar victims

As Michigan State University students begin classes this week with a new president at the helm after the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal, the university's lawyers filed a motion seeking to dismiss the claims of 107 women who have not settled with the university.

The more than 1,000-page dismissal motion, filed late Monday, argues MSU is immune from claims, the women's arguments failed and the claims were not filed within proper time limitations...

Yet another bone headed move by MSU. I don’t know who is making these decisions, but they have made so many missteps it would be laughable if it weren’t so horrifying.

Nassar victims to new MSU president: Actions must match your words

East Lansing -- Michigan State University President Samuel Stanley presided over his first Board of Trustees meeting Friday, facing victims of the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal for the first time.

Four victims who filed lawsuits later in the scandal spoke during the public portion of the meeting, and called on Stanley to match his actions with his words as he begins his closely watched tenure.

"You claim you want to contribute to the healing of all survivors ... but your actions tell a completely different story," said Nicole Casady. "We deserve a commitment for compassion. ... We will continue to fight until MSU treats us with the respect that we deserve."...

Denhollander presses MSU leader for probe: 'It's either action or silence'

The first woman to publicly accuse Larry Nassar of sexual abuse challenged Michigan State University President Samuel Stanley on Monday to initiate an internal investigation into the university's handling of the scandal, saying "it's either action or silence."

Rachael Denhollander, along with two other victims, made the call in a joint statement after MSU trustees were unable Friday to agree on the scope of an inquiry into how Nassar was able to sexually assault girls and young women over more than two decades as a university sports doctor...

Former MSU President Lou Anna Simon to be tried on Nassar-related charges

Former Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon is headed to trial on charges that she lied to police regarding the extent of her knowledge of allegations against serial molester Larry Nassar.

In a written opinion and order Monday, Eaton County Judge Julie Reincke found that Attorney General Dana Nessel's office had established probable cause that Simon lied to police in an interview last year.

The decision comes after a preliminary examination that spanned several months as lawyers argued about whether Simon was told at a 2014 meeting with Title IX coordinator Paulette Granberry-Russell that Nassar was the subject of a sexual assault complaint...

It’s long past due. I don’t really want to reveal more but I hope this is just the start of more searches to come. Not so much for myself but for all the other young girls out there simply hoping to live their dream.
