a Detroit Police Sergeant paid a visit to Grosse Pointe Park, bringing what appeared to be a case and bags full of potential evidence.
Police won’t tell us what was inside or the reason for the visit, but the Bashara murder is the only major joint investigation underway at this moment.
However, the focus of the investigation may be shifting from Detroit to Grosse Pointe Park. Detroit Police tell 7 Action News that Grosse Pointe Park is taking over as the lead investigating agency.

more at link... says clock is ticking on the charges

I am very curious as to why the bar moved out of the building and where they went?

Their facebook indicates that they just closed.. Like out of business at that location. They were posting about Last Call days ahead. Someone mentions a second location. ? Maybe the timing just stunk but they knew they were moving out at the end of this month?

(am I even allowed to post any of this? Eeek)

more on Bob...

An Eastpointe woman who used to rent a house from Bashara in the area of Cadieux and Mack said he made comments to her about him being a dominatrix, a person who takes the dominant role in an S&M relationship, as he worked on a plumbing repair at her residence in 2010.

“During the course of the conversation, he said he was a dominatrix or a dominator or something,” said the 45-year-old woman who did not want to be named.

“He must have seen the look on my face and realized his error because he started to backpedal. It was just an odd thing to say. He said I seemed to have a submissive personality, that’s why he said it.”

She said Bashara claimed to have female clients who paid for him to dominate them and also once told her she deserved to be spanked. But he also mentioned his wife, the woman claims.

“I thought he said he was either married or had a partner and she knew about (his S&M) relationships,” she said. “I thought what a weirdo. Do whatever you want just keep it away from me.”

OH, MY

I didn't see this news coming...YUCK. Just the thought of BB in a sex dungeon made me puke in my mouth.

He reminds me of a wannabe Tony Soprano...

So Joe will more than likely have the charges pressed against him by 4am so he won't go free, correct? Why hasn't LE just charged him already, it sounds like they have what they need to do so?

Regarding what BB's attorney said about BB possibly being charged with open murder, I had to look that up, I don't know if this helps others too:

Murder Defense

In Michigan, the crime of murder must fall into the category of either first or second degree.

First degree murder: felony: mandatory life; no parole) -- "felony murder" (murder committed in the course of another felony), murdering a peace officer in the line of duty, or "premeditated murder". Murder cannot occur accidentally, the defendant must have intended to kill. Premeditation means that the defendant had time to consider the pros and cons of the killing beforehand.

Second degree murder: felony: Life or any term of years) -- causing death + intending to kill or do great bodily harm or knowingly creating a very high risk of death or great bodily harm knowing that death or such harm would be the likely result of his/her actions.

Open Murder: Michigan law does not require a prosecutor to choose between First Degree or Second Degree Murder when issuing a complaint, or even at trial. A prosecutor may charge "Open Murder", which is a combination of First and Second Degree Murder, and the jury may determine the appropriate degree based on the proofs.

And then the statutes for murder follow.

I suspect there are many who are sweating bullets now that their name remains hidden in this mess. I just hope that there aren't too many politicians, judges, etc involved to prevent justice being served.

He looks like the singer Meatloaf IMO

I can see what you're saying :)

Here's the changing face of Meat over the years and BB.

Did you see the Celebrity Apprentice with Meatloaf? Meatloaf is far and away much better person than Bob Bashara has ever been in his whole depraved life.:) MOO

A source said Gentz came to the Grosse Pointe Park Department of Public Safety on Tuesday morning at the urging of his roommate. He told investigators he first spoke to Bob Bashara about the plot months ago, but talks died down until it came up again weeks before the killing, according to the source.

and another snip:

As investigators work to untangle a web of conflicting information and accusations surrounding the killing of a Grosse Pointe Park mother, they're awaiting evidence submitted to the State Police crime lab that could help untangle the mystery.

It's unclear what is being analyzed, but the results could offer clarity about the death of Jane Bashara, 56, whose body was found the morning of Jan. 25.

further thoughts:

plot came up "months ago": Joe moved to the area a few months ago

came up "weeks before the killing": wasn't there an article posted upstream that said Jane had found out about the affair weeks ago?

a second accomplice???

some snips:

Source: 2nd man may have helped Gentz in killing of business man’s wife

But acquaintances of Gentz on Thursday said he hung out with another man, known only as “T.J.,” who also may have played a role in the Bashara case.

Gentz was known as a regular at My Dad’s Bar on Kercheval. A few weeks ago, Gentz and “T.J.” were bragging that they had obtained several thousand dollars for an unknown feat and had blown much of the money at the casino.

One person who knows both men suspect “T.J.” may have been with Gentz on the night of Jane Bashara’s death.

“He’s been freaking out lately while Joe is locked up,” the person said, adding: “I never thought T.J. would get into something like this. I didn’t think he had a mean bone in his body.”

**very long article.. much more at link**

((my comment: again, the "several weeks ago" reference comes up....))

The attorney for the family of a murdered Grosse Pointe Park woman says he soon expects to see an arrest warrant for a “person of interest” in the case.

Speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950 Friday morning, attorney David Griem said he doesn’t expect any charges against his client, Bob Bashara’s. He does, however, see a warrant request for 48-year-old Joseph Gentz of Saint Clair Shores, who claims he was at the home the night Jane Bashara was strangled to death.
