There is an apartment complex located on Harvey St not far from the Exxon gas station. I drove through to see if there were any vehicles that matched the description. What I found was very peculiar. There was a suspicious silver Town & Country minivan that was parked without a license plate. The area where the plate goes appeared to be a lot cleaner than the rest of the back door, suggesting it may have been removed recently. There was no temporary paper plate in the back window. I know that the apartment complex does not allow non-operational vehicles to be parked on the premises and there was no indication that it was non-operational. Needless to say, a tip was phoned in.

Good call!! It would make sense being so close. Someone who works or lives nearby, or both. I feel like driving over there now to see what happens.
Was it the one down that little access road by Traverse Pie Company?

That body was found in Oregon? That's quite the distance. Prayers for the family of the unidentified girl right now
It'd be easy if all UIDs were found close to home would'nt it? It's very possible that he could make it to Oregon in 48 hours.

The entire witness thing has struck me as hinky from the beginning. She said she noticed something odd enough that she pulled over to watch, but did not pull into the station parking lot. She pulled into the strip mall parking lot by the guitar store instead.

Now, if you knew your coworker was working alone and you saw something odd, wouldn't you check it out a little more thoroughly?

I am worried that this is a less than genuine tip and it is leading everyone down the wrong path with the suspect and vehicle description.

I, too, thought it was a little odd when I first heard about the witness account. However, I believe what the co-worker said was that she saw a suspicious van as she was passing by and decided to pull into the guitar store to watch. She had no idea that an abduction was taking place and didn't witness anything else that was suspicious. It's understandable that she didn't jump to the conclusion that an abduction was taking place since nothing like this has happened in the area, at least not in recent memory. I do think it is odd that she didn't decide to go check on her co-worker, though.

Yes. It is the Reserve at Norton Shores. The van was parked in the back corner on the corner of Bowspirit Ln and Capstan I believe.

The officer said that the person who thinks they saw Jessica with a person and a van, took special notice (of the van?) because they thought it was their parents.

I'll find the video and bring the link.

At about 3:26 Chief Shaw begins to talk about the van. The person who saw the van that was parked by the gas station around the time JH went missing, gave the description they did (in response to LE's questioning) because it looked like (CS said 'their') parents' van. That's why the witness said T&C but, like somebody pointed out, it could be another make and model. It's unclear to me if only one or two people together witnessed the van. CS interchanges the person with their, etc. He never says he or she but uses they.

He doesn't say where the witness was located, how near or how far. Just that they described the van as looking like their parents'.

Regarding the hair, Chief Shaw said it was described as being wavy.

The witness mentions her husband, Eric, being with her. I remember that from either her FB postings or a news interview, not sure which right now.

Wow. Just... Wow. Do we know for sure which gas station this was intended for?

I looked this morning at other job boards to see if I could find the posting to see if I could determine which gas station posted the job. I didn't see any similar job postings. It's odd that a company would use Craigslist to post a job but no other job board. It is possible that the other job boards are in the process of updating their postings.

Police rule out friends, relatives after Mich. gas station clerk goes missing on night shift

Several friends and acquaintances of a petite 25-year-old gas station clerk who went missing while working the night shift have been ruled out in her disappearance, which western Michigan investigators are treating as an abduction, the local police chief said Monday.

Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw said relatives, friends and other people associated with Heeringa have been interviewed, and that investigators are “no longer really concerned with their activities from that night.”

“We’re moving on, trying to find other people,” Shaw said.

WDIV hasn't updated their website article about Jessica, but on the 5:00 news there was a reporter at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) in Romulus. She said that the search for Jessica has extended into metro Detroit and that all airports around the state are on alert for the missing young woman.

I agree. The person (where'd we hear it is a she?) could have ulterior motives and is also the person who provided the description of the man with wavy hair, broad shoulders - etc.
Did the witness not stick around to see Jessica being shoved into the van? I assume this happened quickly.

LE may doubt the credibility of the witness which is why they're not putting out a sketch of the described suspect too.

Where'd we hear about the guitar store? Did LE say that? In the latest report, the Chief doesn't state where the witness was when they say they saw the van at the gas station.

Another update from what we originally believed too is that the FBI wasn't involved as early as Saturday. The dates are difficult to pin down but Chief Shaw said the FBI was contacted Sunday and he had a meeting with them scheduled for tomorrow (which is today - Monday). So, if this is accurate information, the FBI wasn't on board immediately.

Chief discusses the FBI in the same video I reposted (someone else posted it originally earlier today) above.

I don't know. Sounds pretty ballsy to me - almost too good to be true, no?

I've checked the FBI's Missing Persons and don't see Jessica listed yet. Hopefully, she will be posted shortly if Shaw met with FBI officials today.

Oh and in today's video the Chief specifically asks for collaboration from the public. He requests that if anyone saw the same thing that's already been reported, please let LE know.

Do you mean the van may have been abandoned in that spot? License plate removed so that it would take more time to figure out who the van is connected too?
The perp may have used a different vehicle within minutes of the abduction. Since it was so dark and isolated, the risk of doing that may have been low.
