Again it goes back to my original statement. If LE is "out to get him" or even if he just thinks they are, something as simple as "providing a statement" becomes much more difficult. Those who distrust LE believe that they can and will twist or alter your words to make your statement fit the crime. I have seen this happen.
Let me ask you a question: Have you ever been stopped for a minor traffic violation or even questioned by LE about anything? Unfortunately I have and they haven't all been positive experiences. I was stopped once for something I didn't do. I had witnesses in my car that knew what he said did NOT occur and I was still cited and had to pay a fine. In the whole process, my words were twisted around and used against me even though I had witnesses to prove my side. That was a minor traffic citation. I can't even imagine being confronted with something more serious.
