kat can you check something out for me - I went on that link and looked at the picture of the man looking down at where Navaeh had been (kills me to look at), I don't know if I'm tired and my eyes are playing tricks on me but is there a bridge to the left in the distance (but not real distant)? Thanks. I have to go out but I'll be back in a few and I'll check back in. :run:

There is a railroad trestle to the left.

I just rewatched JVM and the father of Nevaeh's little friend Austin...something's just not sitting well with me where this guy is concerned. Nevaeh ate with this family hours before she went missing, she was at their home often according to the father of Austin, she was Austin's best friend. Why did Nevaeh need to change her cloths after she left this man's house? WHY? and where are those cloths. I sure would like to know where this man was that evening.

I agree. Something about that guy gives me the creeps.

IIRC hasn't LE stated in interviews of late specifically that the perp is still "out there"? Why would they alarm a community needlessly if they knew they had the perp already behind bars? Just a thought.

Hi Kat, I think because in the Friday presser the Sheriff used the word 'they' when referring to the perp. I think he thinks there is more than one perp, and then he spoke of the perp still out in the community being very dangerous who would abduct and murder a little 5yr old girl - in my mind leaving the other perp to possibly be in custody.

I'm like Chilly and have a hard time going to find links, but I know I read that in a link. xox xox

It could be that she just can't stand the uncertainty, and doesn't want to keep on an emotional rollercoaster. So she'll see the body, make her peace, and eventually move on. Weird that she'd think when your child dies, it is completely over. "It" what??

OMG - JB is a complete loon (sorry). When I lost my mom 3 years ago, there's still not a day that I don't think about her. I'm STILL in therapy (she was my best friend).

If I ever lost my child, you would have to peel me off the floor, and would probably be put in a mental ward. Death of a loved on is never ever completely over - I don't care what anyone says.

I don't know how she can be so calm in her interviews. All I see is a heartless woman.

I know some people mourn in different ways, but this is just absurd :(

Yes you did see it. It looks to me (and I could be wrong) like an old trestle bridge (the kind that trains would use run over the river). With no sides.

Blog with a better picture and the blogger says it was taken near the site where Nevaeh was found.

http://www.blogsmonroe.com/expatriate/2009/06/nevaeh-case-and-the-river-raisin

From what I could determine from the blog (which is well written) is that the bridge is the Ida-Maybee bridge.

ETA: Sorry for all the typo's the poor grammar and syntax, I'm tired tonight and heading to bed soon.

I have 3 kids (youngest being 7) and this was the first thing I said. My 7yo would leave on his clothes for 3 or 4 days if you let him. That was a real big flag to me.

Hi Sailor,

Is your 7 year old a boy? My son will wear the same thing over and over (dirty or not). Something about boys - they don't care about that stuff, but girls are so different (changing 3-4 times a day). I've gone to extremes by actually throwing away sweat pants my son would want to wear to school every day!

I don't find it too odd that Nevaeh would want to change her clothes often -- it's a girl thing :)

Best,

Mel

Here is a link that Angel who cares posted over on the Astro's thread of a picture of the place near the rivers edge where Nevaeh was found:

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Forensic Astrology - Nevaeh Buchanan missing 5/24/09 MI.

For anyone that may have missed it.

FWIW, I realize there is a steep embankment and someone had to carry some cement but when looking at the gravesite this evil person(s) created for this beautiful child, once again, I have to say how lazy, stupid and completely ignorant they are. Of course I am "preaching to the choir" but it certainly didn't take much effort, and they certainly didn't put forth any for Nevaeh. Bless her heart she deserved more!

I wonder whether the concrete was to destroy evidence, keep her body hidden, or if the perp thought it would hold off decomp so he could visit her afterwards. I mean, whoever it was had to know about this area, it's not exactly on a tourist map. I hope that LE talks to people about all cars on that road at any time since Nevaeh disappeared, not just within the time frame that they have for her actual death.
If whoever dumped her there did leave a beer can with DNA on it, then they aren't the brightest bulb on the tree, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that they also thought concrete would stop decompisition.
I don't know, I can't get a fix on anything in this case. Not any one person, be it mother, father, family, SO, I have no idea and no solid theory. I just can't shake the idea that the perp wanted to come back.

You guys are absolutely right...Easter is the guy, not Smith. Did any of you see him on the news. That was actually the frontpage headline on the Toledo Blade..."Demands an Apology"
Interesting that he lists an address in Dundee...hmmmm.

I know there has been alot of talk about the timeline and such. Here, they have ALWAYS said the last time she was seen was 6:15 or so and her so called mother called police after 8 PM. No one locally has EVER changed the timeline. I know what the amber alert said and other people but locally it is consistently reported that she was last seen around 6:15 or so. They are still saying it today and it is listed as such in all news genre here.

Also interesting is a Monroe local thread that has many people stating that the police confirmed to them it was nevaeh and 13 news local twittered that the family confirmed to them that it was Nevaeh...

Posted on the local MONROE thread going on the case...

Listen to this comment James Easter allegedly made to authorities, when interrogators asked him how he thought the girl was abducted. --Notice the reference to Kit-Kat Candy.

Seriously... What kind of person would think up something like that ?

From a Detroit Paper:

Earlier Thursday, a 64-year-old man, who a district judge said has been cleared as a person of interest in the girl's disappearance, said he was held by interrogators for 12 hours, answering questions such as "How do you think they did it?"

James Easter said he made a mistake by answering that question outright, claiming that if he was the one who had abducted Nevaeh on May 24, he would have "took my vehicle behind the nail salon nearby and called to her with a Kit Kat."

Uh..what? Does anyone recall this? Can anyone verify ?

monroe thread link on Toledo Talk.. http://www.toledotalk.com/cgi-bin/t...your_take_on_the_sad_Nevaeh_case_in_Monroe/43

Now here is the actual Monroe thread where people from Monroe are talking..don't forget..it's a small town..they probably have info that we dont but there are more than 5000 posts!!

Don't know if these have been posted before, but the monroe link itself is chock full of info...

Bessie, I agree that it is odd that the perp might leave a beer can. I would also be surprised if the glove was left by the perp. I mean, why wear gloves? Fingerprints can be lifted from the inside of gloves, no? Although, the perp left the bag the concrete came in, which seems equally dumb.

As far as the comments I have seen today about the perp traversing the steep incline, or possible boat access, I personally would not assume that a perp who is capable of murdering a sweet young girl would treat the corpse with any real respect or care. I could be wrong, but a 90 lb bag of concrete might equally be dropped or rolled down the incline.

If I'd have to guess, the perp was on some serious drugs to make the mistakes made. Leaving behind the beer can, sloopy job on the concrete, not to mention the gloves. Now let's say the perp rolled the quick-crete down the hill. I've seen those bags - they break easily (meaning they are not meant for rolling down steep hills). A rock would poke a hole in the bag - leaving behind more evidence (wasn't the bag left behind anyway)?

I'd say the perp(s) were either really drunk or doped up. If on crack, pcp, meth, he/she would have the stamina to carry the concrete down the hill.

JMHO

That does appear to be him, Mom, although the ears look different. If it is him, he hasn't updated his address in the SO list. That's a big no-no.

EDIT: The ages are off by 5 years.

oh nevermind it doesn't go to his direct page. LOL I'm such a ditz tonight :)

There is a canoe launch from the Ida Maybee bridge.

http://www.blogsmonroe.com/expatriate/2008/04/page/2/

This blog is not about Neveah. This is blog that is written about the area in and around the raisin river.

Snippets of interest (may or may not be important, probably not but still...)

...The most interesting portion of the property, from a nature perspective, is the river corridor. A small section of woods fronts the river. A small parking area is found just about 50 feet west/southwest of the river. From here it is possible to walk down to the river along the Ida-Maybee bridge right-of-way. This path is clear of vegetation and offers a nice canoe launch location under the bridge...

...In the past, I have walked along the river’s edge for the entirety of the township property...

The blogger has pictures that were taken prior to the discovery of Nevaeh. The blog I linked above was posted on 28 April 2008.

Any thoughts?

You people need to slow down. I stopped reading at 5:30 and came back to 13 more pages. I didn't read all the pages just started back up a couple of pages again.

Yes you are right chilly. Easter is the one that after he was released it was reported that he watched LE leave (he was dropped of at his home around 5 am by LE IIRC) he then went out to burn some reciepts.

If I'm not mistake he is J. P. Easter and has a reference to an address in Dundee MI on Veromi.

This article says he saved the receipts;

He said he presented receipts for purchases he made at Kmart, Wal-Mart, and Lowe’s on the days in question.

I've never seen an investigation with so much poor media coverage. Today A is A but tomorrow A is B and then C is A and B.

Definitely a strange choice of words but 'it' could mean exactly that, the not knowing, the holding on to hope. I've heard (on TV) people come out of hospital rooms and say, "It's over" meaning the person has passed on.

If I give her the benefit of the doubt, it could mean that's she's glad that not knowing what happened is over. JMO

If he doesn't have a record as a pedophile I think he's got a point. A weak point but a point nonetheless.

If that proves to be accurate momtective then that was his downfall. Had he not used it, it might her grave might not have been so noticeable.

Further speculation: I think the perp has a psychological connection to the river. I think it was nursebeemee that pulled up a route map and there were many other places to select to hide Nevaeh. Yet, a spot kissing the rivers edge was selected. Lot's of speculation could be made about that.

If Nevaeh was taken there and a crime commited against her before her murder (molestation etc) it could still be seen as a psychological connection to the murderer. Why take her there? Just speculation, interesting to me though.

When serial killer Arthur Shawcross was committing murders in Rochester the profilers said the murderer usually leaves the bodies where he's been before. I'm guessing this SO has been there before, probably fishing.

It's him! I just know it is! What should I do?

No, on second thought I don't believe it is him. The ears are different, the ages are wrong, the hair color is wrong, and SO has a dimple on his right check that the myspace guy doesn't have. The SO guy has a much higher hairline than the myspace guy.

7:15 Takes friends in Savannah's mom's car to inmate dorm to visit someone.

Went to his motel.

Went to a gas station.

Went back to county inmate dorm.

Took friends home.

Got call from JB that Nevaeh was missing.
Didn't she call at 8? He did all this in 45 minutes? Short visit with the inmate, I guess.

Is there a marine in Monroe?

Yes there are marinas...and just flat out plenty of places all around Monroe county to drop a boat in.

Apparently it wasn't George who did the visiting. He dropped Roy off and Roy visited while George went to his motel and to get gas. Then George picked Roy up. That's why there's two trips to the inmate dorm.
