SuziQ,
Sorry about my misunderstanding who you were talking about.

Any reason this other guy would have anything to do with Maria's murder?

Nope, pure speculation, was mentioned by a poster at Gretawire. Only link so far is they were both Lnc Cpl's at the same base.

I just posted the story above that said twice Christina was at the party. READ the article! Whether she was in Cesar's unit or not, she was at the party. I am sure the party goers have confirmed this.

I'm sure that's her alibi too.

Respectfully snipped.
It's interesting to note that the Detective himself states in the Probable Cause Affidavit:

Item#11-Based on my training and experience, I believe a woman due to give birth soon would not normally abandon her source of low-cost medical care and enter a military status of unauthorized absence; and she would be reluctant to abandon her cellular phone on the side of the road.

Item#14 Base on my training and experience, I do not believe that Maria Lauterbach would abandon her family's support and/or abandon contact with her family.

Tnx for documenting and sorting that out Suzie Q. It shows that the detective felt Maria was not planning to leave because of her baby's imminent birth (just like you said). I wonder if he's talked to witnesses who knew what Maria's plans were. If nothing else it shows that LE thought Maria had the good sense to want proper medical care and was not running away.

What term to use? The dumbest killer

Why does a Marine need to use a crow bar to disable a pregnant woman and
who with a brain in their head buries the victim in their own back yard?

Would you believe a "stellar marine" with "MacGyver survival skills"?

Here we go again

http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/01/17/missing.marine/index.html
Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she was reported missing December 19. Authorities say she was killed four days earlier.

According to the LeJeune presser, Maria's housemate, Durham, reported her missing w/intention to go UA on Dec. 14th ..........

"On Friday, December 14, 2007 . . . Sgt Durham arrives home from work, he finds a note left for him by LCpl Lauterbach . . . Sgt Durham calls LCpl Lauterbach’s sister concerning the note. Shortly after this conversation, LCpl Lauterbach’s Mother calls Sgt Durham. Sgt Durham text messages a junior member of LCpl Lauterbach’s work section indicating his belief she was going into an Unauthorized Absence status . . .

On Monday, December 17, 2007, LCpl Lauterbach failed to report to work. Her leadership begins to inquire . . . The command requests permission to list LCpl Lauterbach as a deserter in order to release a DD553 to apprehend her."

I wonder if CNN attended the presser!

if christina knew a day before about the murder shouldn't she be in custody for obstruction of justice or something??
I'm thinkin' she figured it out while she and were painting over the blood on her walls and ceiling!

Had to get out of here for a bit..man this case is nerve shattering.
I ran to the bumpernuts thread to get my sanity back.

_____ You got me w/that one, Phar!

I'll start searching for "bumpernuts" because I'll need to go there too before long.

. . . If the bus ticket was to be used on the 15th, and as Laurean claims they went on the 14th to purchase the ticket, but then Maria comes over later that evening "disorientated" and "agitated" and says the "plan failed".

How can a plan fail if it hasn't even happened yet?? (Bus to leave on the 15th supposedly). Nope, not buying that one for a second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last question: I see additional charges have been filed, bank card theft and obtaining property by false pretenses.

What "property" is this related to?

I was wondering about that plan failing too, Littledeer.
What plan? Her plan to leave the "Marine Corps life"?
Why didnt she just go home and sleep on it?

does not make any sense ... and neither does .... "He claimed Lauterbach produced a knife and slit her own throat." PRODUCED a knife? Like out of thin air? Did she take a kitchen knife w/her along with her toiletries and stash it in her purse?!

If the "property" isn't her car, maybe it's the Western Union money that was obtained by pretending to be Maria.

whew! I'm going koo-koo ..... where's bumpernuts? :bang:

At the celebration BBQ. I think many people had it in for Maria because of the campaign Cesar and Xtina had been waging against her. They even incited someone to slug Maria.

I agree w/you about the campaign and about the inciting!

I think she knows alot more and probably is "cooperating fully", the police have already stated it wasn't suicide by all the blood found at the home.

Plus the autopsy showed COD was blunt force trauma
to head, so unless she had a tantrum because her
"plan failed," then banged her head against the wall . . .

Just when I think I've made a little sense of this case and can see a time-line of sorts.... someone comes along and makes a statement like (Maria told ) "the plan failed".

Makes me want to bang my head against the wall!

I wouldn't worry much about what someone says the said. At this point I don't believe a word Christina says. If she's guilty of covering up the murder (I firmly believe she IS guilty), making up stories on the fly shouldn't be too hard on her conscience. I would be very surprised if Christina still has the ability to keep her statements straight.

Peace, we don't know if any of what Christina said in that affidavit was true. So take it with a grain of salt.

We do know that LE says that Maria was murdered on the 14th.

Which timeline? This is what is on AMW:

December 14
Lauterbach reported to work. Her workday ended at noon for a Christmas party, which she did not attend. Sgt. Durham returned to their home and says he finds a note from Lauterbach that expressed her desire to leave the Marine Corps. Sgt. Durham said her car was gone, and some personal items were taken. Marine command determined that Lauterbach had gone U.A. Investigators find that Lauterbach withdrew $700 from a Jacksonville, N.C. ATM, and bought a Greyhound bus ticket to El Paso.

Ok, I have stayed away from this case for a few days becuase it just breaks my heart...
But I am back because I want to see the found!!
I have tried to read through the posts - but there are sooooo many, so if someone would be so kind and asnswer of few questions for me...

1.) Has it ever been determined by DNA that was the father to Maria's baby?
2.) Why would Maria and the go together to buy a bus ticket?? I thought they really had no communication...
3.) Has LE made any indication that they are suspecting Xtina knows more than she is telling?

I think thats it for now... Thanks :blowkiss:

ETA: One more - has it ever been determined if the baby was born before Maria was murdered or does LE feel she murdered and burned while still pregnant..?

Interesting, take a look at the Marine Corps timeline: http://www.newbernsj.com/news/lauterbach_38149___article.html/lcpl_cpl.html

On Saturday, December 15th, Greyhound bus records reflect a ticket is purchased in LCpl Lauterbach’s name for one way to El Paso, Texas departing that evening. Ticket is not redeemed. Command is not notified of this information until January 9th.

I have tried to read through the posts - but there are sooooo many, so if someone would be so kind and asnswer of few questions for me...

1.) Has it ever been determined by DNA that was the father to Maria's baby? No. Still doing DNA testing.
2.) Why would Maria and the go together to buy a bus ticket?? I thought they really had no communication... We don't have any clue unless it was to set her up so that people would assume she had taken off and he was premeditating her murder at that point. I would assume she was a hostage if this happened.
3.) Has LE made any indication that they are suspecting Xtina knows more than she is telling? They have a search warrant issued for her phone records. If you read the warrant, they have plenty of reason to suspect she knows more...but they are not saying it. Her timeline says she knew 24 hours before turning him in. She also contradicts the timeline of LE in her statement.

I think thats it for now... Thanks :blowkiss:
You are welcome. :)

I don't know who to believe then Golfmom!! LOL AMW should be getting their information from the Sheriff's Department, but you would think the Marines timeline would be correct. Sheesh!

Their timeline also has the ATM withdrawal made on the 14th which I think is correct.

On Friday, December 14, 2007,
There is an ATM withdrawal of $700 from LCpl Lauterbach’s account. Transaction occurs in Jacksonville. Video surveillance confirms LCpl Lauterbach makes the withdrawal.
http://www.newbernsj.com/news/lauterbach_38149___article.html/lcpl_cpl.html

I thought it was reported that the ATM transaction and the bus ticket purchase were on the same day.

I am more inclined to believe the Sheriff's Dpt. at this point, much more so than the Marines who have tried to CYA so much that I can't really believe everything they say. I still feel that the USMC let Maria down and didn't believe her or protect her, at the same time that they believed and supported their stellar Marine . This is coming from a Marine brat, born and raised in Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville, by the way. It makes me so sad.

Edited to add: I wrote to my dad's best friend, also a retired Marine , about this case, and he wrote back a really sweet letter telling me what all his family has been up to and such , but he absolutely ignored this case and didn't even mention it. ( And he lives right there in J'Ville ! )

It is as if Marines refuse to comment on other Marines, even if they are retired. That shows how it is for them, dontcha think ?
