Already facing charges, man allegedly tries to lure child through computer

BEMIDJI — Seven months and one day after bailing out of jail where he was being held on six counts of child *advertiser censored* possession, Jacob William Kinn posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a “2-9 year old” girl to pose in various outfits for his “personal collection,” according to authorities.

Within a week of the posting, Kinn was taken into custody, but recently paid a $15,000 bond and was released from jail.

The 29-year-old Bemidji man pleaded not guilty to the child *advertiser censored* charges Monday, and his jury trial is scheduled to begin May 28. In the online ad, created in February, Kinn said he would pay $150 per hour for a minimum of one hour and that he wanted the girl to wear “skimpy outfits,” according to court documents. Police, posing as a fictitious mother named “Lisa,” responded to the ad.

I'm speechless, why was this out on the streets?

From scene of Jacob Kinn's home, suspect police say in missing 5 year-old case, found alive, search warrant coming.

I will never understand how these predatory pieces of human trash can get charged with possession of child *advertiser censored* and then be back out the streets in no time at all. It's the same way here in Ontario. We either need NEW laws, or bigger jails. I'm fine with either one if it can be proven to protect our defenseless little people from the vile monsters that hunt them down.

Oh my dear Lord, what happened to this baby girl?
I'm happy that she's been found and I'm hoping he didn't abuse her. What are the chances of that? Ugh!

Isn't child *advertiser censored* a federal offense? Why was this handled locally rather than on a federal level? The article says that MN law requires bail in every instance. Seems the penalties and such should have been much stricter. I'm not really up on the legal stuff. Does anybody know?

Looks like he was sentenced to 15 months in jail and 6 years probation on the child *advertiser censored* charges. I don't see any criminal records for the attempt to lure a child. Here is the link to MN Criminal Records search: https://www.cch.state.mn.us/pcchOffenderSearch.aspx his DOB is 7/13/1983.

Search court records here for more details: http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/Search.aspx?ID=100

I will wait and see if the investigation goes where my mind is going.

For now all i will say is rip to melissa and a fine bit of work by LE on recovering this little one.

According to the complaint, Kinn was identified as a person of interest after police learned that the owner of the trailer home had recently become involved with the owner of a food truck called Jake's Eats. Police learned that the food truck belonged to Kinn and discovered that he was on probation.
...
Police contacted Kinn's probation agent, who contacted Kinn and asked him to go to the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center. Kinn told his probation agent, "this is probably about that missing girl," according to the complaint. Police spoke with Kinn and learned that his phone pinged off a cell tower near Bigfork on Wednesday, and that Kinn's brother owned property near the tower. Police traveled to the property and located B in a pop-up camper.
B did not have access to food or water and her legs had been taped together. She was taken to the Family Advocacy Center for medical treatment. She had "acute injuries" on her body, the complaint said.
During a police interview with B, she said a "friend" of the person she was staying with came to the trailer home and drove her to his house. She said this friend put tape on her mouth, legs and hands and that she watched "SpongeBob" and went to sleep in his bed. She described a house and car that match those belonging to Kinn. B also told police that the friend drove her to a cabin, and told her that he was not going to come back.

so no initials yet? and no murder charges yet for Kinn?

so JK was friends with the babysitter...IMO he knew that she was watching BB and arranged to come over...so premeditated. Not only JK assumedly killed the babysitter but BB if she wasn't found.

interesting that he owned a Sponge Bob video.
Also a food truck.
also loved how LE worked so fast with network and phone pings

More details are emerging in the house fire that resulted in a 5-year-old girl being kidnapped in Bemidji.

According to the Bemidji Police Department, around 3:30 a.m. June 22 fire officials responded to a call of a fire in the 3900 block of Irvine Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews put out the flames and investigated the home. Inside, they found the body of a woman badly burned. Police identified the woman as 35-year-old Melissa Sue Norby and determined she was the owner of the home.

According to the warrant, she was found with her arms bound and was positioned underneath a mattress.
