Having split wood as a kid on the farm, I can say that is one heck of a wood pile. I don't know that you could even burn it all in one winter before most of it on the lower levels rotted.....
I can't get either video to load. Any tips? Also, it would be great if we could put ALL video & interviews & pictures in one spot. Joy has some good ones but I have to keep going all over to find them all.
Anyway, very sad that Jacob is still missing. I remember it like yesterday and have felt a connection to Patty since back then. So soul crushing to give your child a little more freedom which is often hard as a parent, and then have your worst nightmare come true. And the family has had to pass the scene of the abduction every single day to be reminded of their Jacob, who can no longer put his arms around them or toss a football or raise a family. The not knowing, the not being there for him, so many questions and so much heartbreak. Saying a prayer that someone knows something, and for the love of all that is right in the world, gives the Wetterlings some answers and closure. This has gone on too long. Peace & love to the Wetterlings as they approach the 25th year anniversary. Our hearts ache for you. We will continue our sleuthing in the hopes that we can help uncover the answers.

Maybe it's something they considered small and unimportant, maybe like Kevin they were somewhere they shouldn't have been, maybe they told a lie and covered it up because they were scared. I pray that somebody comes forward with whatever information they have no matter how trivial they think it may be. The time to come forward is now.

Me either, I assumed they had done this ride many times in the daytime and perhaps with parents but that night was the first night doing the ride in the dark without adults. So that goes with the theory that the perp had seen these boys before and knew where they were coming from, and that they would be heading back relatively shortly. Proves the local theory to me. Nobody can put DAH in the area.
We know DR said that night that he saw a small car with lights close together pass through his driveway with a woman or small child in the passenger seat. Clearly he could have seen someone from his bedroom window turn around. This was about 15-20 minutes after the abduction, I believe DR was doing whatever with Jacob when he heard then saw Kevin & his GF drive up and around driveway and added 'or small child' and 'lights close together' to appear to tell the truth while also misleading investigators. Also, he never once mentioned the sighting of this vehicle that night on the phone with 911 or when he approached cops at woodpile or in the morning when he lifted the crime scene tape to exit.

I, too, have often wondered whether Rassier knew who the perpetrator was and/or was in cahoots with that person(s). It is not beyond the pale that a small group comprised of those with illegal sexual proclivities knew each other and knew either how to procure a young male or knew who could. Sometimes these wicked types know how to find each other and perhaps blackmail one another as well. "I got this kid for you, pay up." I personally believe ongoing dialogue that examines all the possibilities doesn't harm anything and keeps attention focused on the people we are endeavoring to help. DR looks like a probable suspect, and yet, no arrest. Did he commit the perfect crime? He might have. Or, he might have assisted the cretin who actually did the deed? DR worked for years in the company of very experienced child predators over at St. John's. Don't rule out this cadre of deceitful deviants. Be mindful that if they were willing to commit their criminal deeds wherever they went (because they were often transferred when their actions were discovered), there is no reason at all for one or several to pursue a young man they saw while taking care of errands in the town.
I think the Paynesville incidents were separate because of the manner of approach to the victims.
I think it's possible Jared's case might be connected to Jacob, but because Jared saw the perpetrator's face, he should be able to look at a suspect's picture from that timeframe and identify him.
I used to believe Jared and Jacob were connected but now I'm not sure. I do think it is statistically low that so many child predators would exist in one small geographic area but JBrown could be onto something regarding a cycle of abuse originating from (fill in the blank). As Patty Wetterling said, and I'm paraphrasing her words, what was happening in that area that was so harmful to young males? A most excellent question indeed.
I am also of the mind that there has been some cover up involved in order to prevent bad publicity for the area but more particularly, possibly for certain pillars of the community. Power and money are often at play when it comes to concealing the truth (i.e. Penn State, Catholic church, politicians, etc.). Many of the townsfolk might not have the will or willingness to believe some of the old community pillars could be capable of such chicanery. It appears there are families who have lived in the area for a long time and know each other well. Denial is a powerful thing. Look how long it has taken the faithful of the Catholic church to process that rampant deception and sexual deviance that has been occurring within the holy walls of their churches. The long term cover up in that milieu is breathtaking.
Does "Occam's Razor" apply here with regard to DR? Maybe we should make lists with bullets that support our own thoughts as to who might have been involved, and list them in a step by step fashion so that we can follow the progression of each of our theories. Just thinking aloud. None of us has a horse in this race, and all of us use want the truth. Mockery or hostility is unproductive and unnecessary. There is a reason this case is unsolved; perhaps many reasons. What are those reasons? TIA

This is a good picture...and this is why I'm confused. DR told Joy that when he looked out his bedroom window (after hearing the dog barking/after he was asleep), he saw flashlights by the woodpile. But this picture puts his bedroom on the opposite side of the house, away from the woodpile.

9:40- Police arrive at Wetterling house. I'm thinking here that it does take some time for LE to download the information from the boys before proceeding to abduction site)
9:45-10-Kevin + girlfriend(and friends hear scanner + see police cars go by). Since they live relatively close(not verified yet) they make it to the abduction site prior to LE, drive ALL the way through DR's farmstead driveway. Smokey does not bark(explanation anywhere for this?) Kevin drives to Tom Thumb, sees 'medical cop', then notices LE squad car at Cotton Dentist office, talks to him, cop says 'we know about the bikes'
10:00- DR goes to bed
10:05-10:20(I don't have any info on this) Since Merle's 911 call was at 9:32 and lasted several minutes, he then called Jerry + Patty in Clearwater. So I would assume the earliest they could be getting into their car would be 9:40. 25-30 minute drive puts arrival at 10:10. However, according to the Saint Autumn blog quoting Patty as saying they met a squad car on their road and the police escorted them to their house. I am wondering if LE waited at the Wetterling house before proceeding to the abduction site.

Smoker voice or a forcibly disguised voice? that would be a good thing to try and figure out. Being masked is trying to prevent that person seeing you because he knows you, disguising the voice is just more, more, more of that.

Safe to say if the suspect disguised his whole head with a black stocking and his body shape with a bulky coat then of course he would disguise his voice to not sound like his own. Do this on your own. Make a voice that doesn't sound like your own. Does it sound gravelly and smokerish? Mine did. Give it a try.

Right when this happened the voice was described as if he had a cold by Trevor or Aaron. Never as a deep raspy voice. That was Jared's case. It makes sense though as the years pass and Aaron getting older that he would now describe it as a smokers voice. At 11 yrs old that wouldn't be your first thought.
