In one version of his story (from what I've been told) the alleged father said that when he left the parking lot at the Civic Center, Amanda was talking on her cell phone. This was supposed to have been at about 3:00. However, LE did check this and there was no such call. The only call on record is one that took place at about 1:00p.m. and it was verified that Amanda spoke briefly to her former sister-in-law at that time.

So, he's the last person to see her, he lied to LE, he has a landing strip on his property IIRC.

Sooooo.........is LE dropping this case or what? Sounds to me like they have the beginning of a good 'circumstantial case' against the guy. Wonder what other 'coincidences' there are?

I know that Amanda's dad said that the baby's father changed his story several times. He has lied from the beginning. Didn't he realize that LE could check Amanda's cell phone records? He said he left the Civic Center at 3:00 and Amanda was talking on her cell phone and then he came back at 5-6:00 and she was still sitting in her car talking on her phone! Sure, she sat there for 2-3 hours talking on the phone all by herself in the parking lot! No record of that call. I think he was covering his butt at 5-6:00 because his car was there and he had to have an alibi for it being there in case anyone saw it. He had to say that he saw her alive at that time in case someone saw his car. Seems like he said that he went back to do some maintenance work or something at that time. Ya, I'll bet he did. He was probably getting her body out to a car then.

Does this guy have a plane? Why the airstrip on his property?

I will always believe that his girlfriend was involved in the murders as she lawyered up as soon a Amanda went missing. If she wasn't with the father of the baby then she had no reason to get an attorney. This was about Amanda meeting the father of the baby that afternoon...at his request. It had nothing to do with the girlfriend. Why the need for an attorney? Suspicious if you ask me. Probably her car that was in the back of the building if anyones car was. I doubt LE ever even checked her vehicle out. Wonder if they checked out that Civic Center? Perfect place for a murder in the bathroom with Amanda big and bulky and cornered with no way to try and get out. The place was probably locked up as no one was using it that day. But the baby's dad had a key!

Wouldn't the civic center have security cameras?

As for the lawyer, I'd get a lawyer immediately if anyone close to me was even remotely suspected of a crime. I've read too much WS to do anything but.

He could've flown Amanda's body anywhere and dumped her :(

I still think he fed her to his pig farm. :( :furious:

I hate that her family is still having to searchfor answers... They deserve to have some closure.

I agree Jodibug. I can't believe LE, in this case, hasn't solved this crime. I know it's just speculation on our part, but to me, it's obvious what happened and it appears they have some evidence that could be used in a court of law. I wonder if LE really dug hard enough for the final links in this case. Just how much influence does this guy's family have in that community?

Not only does Amanda's family deserve closure, Amanda and her baby deserve justice. :(

Family asks fairgoers for help finding missing woman

It was a hard plea to ignore.

“Will you help me find my daughter, please?”

That’s how Hubert Propst greeted people outside the Jefferson County Fair this weekend, as he and his wife, Bertha, continued search efforts for their daughter, Amanda Jones.

Jones was pregnant when she went missing nearly two years ago. Her parents and others handed out fliers at the civic center on Saturday, just steps away from where her car was found unlocked with her purse inside after her disappearance.

“We just need that one last bit of information,” said Lt. Tommy Wright, of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Jones was 26 and just days away from giving birth to the son she planned to name Hayden Lucas, when she disappeared on Aug. 14, 2005. Jones had told her mother that she was going to the Hillsboro Civic Center to meet the man she believed to be the baby’s father, Bryan Westfall.

Regarding JerseyGirl's posting, I don't believe the Hillsboro Civic Center has cameras. It's not a very modern facility. It has just a couple of metal buildings in front with a couple of shelters in the back for equipment and such.

I think that Bryan Westfall does have a pilot's license. With this in mind, it scare you to think of the possibilities...

I can't believe it's been nearly two years. I don't know how her family can stand it. :(

Does he have a pig farm? I hope that isn't what happened to Amanda and the baby. Are his parents the kind of parents that would cover for him?

Here is another lie by Bryan in that last article about Amanda's parents at the fair...My heart aches for her poor parents.

Bryan said ......

Westfall has told authorities he had nothing to do with the disappearance and that Jones was alive when he left her at the civic center, a typical meeting place for the couple.

Now if my memory serves me him and Amanda didn't meet anywhere before that day. She let him know that she was pregnant and he didn't want anything to do with her or the baby. She didn't contact him after that is my understanding. According to that friend of Bryan and his girlfriend who posted on CTV...Bryan and Amanda didn't see each other. Him and his girlfriend got back together right after him and Amanda slept together "ONE" night...a one night stand. So Bryan is still up to his old ways...lying. He makes it sound like they met there all of the time. What a piece of trash he is.

Tomorrow will be two years....

DE SOTO — The family of Amanda Jones is dreading this week.

Tuesday marks the two-year anniversary of the disappearance of the 26-year-old woman. She had gone to the Hillsboro Civic Center to meet Bryan Lee Westfall, the man she believed fathered the child she was about to deliver.

"Like 9/11 is for America, that's how Aug. 14 is for us," said Carrie Johnson, 20, of Desloge, Amanda's younger sister. "Two lives were stolen that day and several lives were changed. Hearts were broken, and a lot of those hearts have not mended at all."

As for the investigation two years later, "It's at a standstill," said Sgt. Gary Higginbotham of the Jefferson County sheriff's office.

"Time hasn't taken away the pain," said Bertha Propst, Jones' mother. "You try to learn to live and go on, but the feelings are still the same and will be until we get the answers."

The family plans to mark the anniversary of Jones' disappearance by planting a tree in her memory at their church, Calvary Assembly of God. But Bertha Propst admits, "I dread that day..."

Johnson remembers the day her sister disappeared. She flashes back to the phone calls that she made to her sister that went unanswered and the countless times she checked the driveway, hoping she would see Amanda's car.

"I should have gone with her that day," Johnson said. "I should have never let her go alone."

This case is so sad and so maddening. Especially since we all have a good idea who did this to Amanda and the police probably do, too, but don't have enough evidence. Continued prayers for justice for Amanda and her baby, and for the peace of her family.

Question....if Amanda met Bryan at a Christmas party and had a brief encounter....how could he be the father of a baby due August 27th (per her Walmart gift registry)?

Did she know him before the party? Would he have caused the disappearance if he knew there was no way he was the father?

A lot of Christmas parties are in early December. I've even been to some that are right after Thanksgiving, the last week of November.

Do we know the date of the Christmas party? I was going to look for it, but I just don't have time to go through 20 pages (I'm at work.)

Also, it is fairly common during a pregnancy for a due date to be changed a couple of times. I dont' know when her registry was made, but perhaps ther due date was adjusted after that time?

If Brian didn't think he would be the dad, why even meet with her? Why not just tell her to contact his attorney about a DNA sample once the child was born? If he was sure he wasn't the daddy, then he had nothing to worry about.

Good points, Jodibug. What if he was sure he was not the father and she was sure he was and an argument broke out?

I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't what happened. I want to know why he called Amanda in the first place and asked her to meet him at the Civic Center at 1:00. If he was so sure that the baby wasn't his why bother? They hadn't had any contact since she told him that she was pregnant as far as I've ever heard so why right before the baby was due?

Bryan Westfall is guilty as heck and everyone knows it including LE. No one else had any motive to want to see Amanda and the baby disappear except Bryan and his girlfriend. Wonder if the girlfriend threatened to break off with him if he didn't do something about his situation?? Maybe she thought Amanda would go for child support and they would be stuck paying it for the next 18 or so years. She probably hated Amanda even though she didn't know her because Amanda slept with her boyfriend when they had had a fight. Probably blamed Amanda for the whole thing. That girl lawyered up for some reason.

A badly decomposed body of a woman was found in an overgrown ravine in Festus on Sunday night, police said.

Festus residents called police about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after spotting what appeared to be a body in a grassy area bordering their property in the area of South Mill Street and Veterans Boulevard in Festus, said Police Chief Tim Lewis.

The woman's body was found about 500 feet south of a Ryan's restaurant, Lewis said. Investigators recovered the woman's body for examination but were unable to identify her Sunday night because it was so badly decomposed.

The clothing on the body found Sunday does not match the description of those worn by Amanda Jones, 26, of Pevely, who was nine months pregnant when she disappeared Aug. 14, 2005.

"We're not ruling anything out," Lewis said. "But we don't think it's Amanda Jones at this point."

That would be close to 40 weeks, wouldn't it?
I've never been pregnant so I do not know. Our company Christmas party is Dec. 2. So it could be possible.

I doubt this is Amanda...I would think after 2 yrs. she would only be a skeleton by now...and I assume there would be a baby skeleton with her. Oh, man, I'm going to make myself cry. I wish this WOULD be Amanda so that maybe there could finally be justice.

could it be her? <snip>

SAINT LOUIS, MO -- Police are searching for 20-year-old Colleen Benedict of Parma Heights, a student at Saint Louis University.
Colleen was last seen Saturday night in an area near the campus known as University City. Police classified her as a missing person Monday.

Police say they know the 20-year-old was at the Qdoba Mexican Grill and the Starbucks in the University City loop Saturday night. After that, police can't find anyone who saw Colleen.

Although the disappearance is being treated as a missing persons case, police say it's too soon to know if foul play is involved.

Colleen is in her sophomore year at St. Louis University.

St. Louis University officials say they were told at 1 a.m. Monday that Benedict was missing.

Police and the university have been in contact with her parents in Parma Heights. They are now currently in St. Louis. Her roommate Anna Casten says she last saw her Saturday morning. And, its not like her not to contact anyone for two days.

Anyone who may have seen Benedict or may know where she might be is asked to call University City Police at (314) 725-2211 or St. Louis University at (314) 977-3000.
