I just read that the death of the teacher was not related- that he had been terminally ill and had just reached the point where he couldn't take it anymore.

Also, I want to know where the suspect's family is now? If they live just a few houses away from the victim, did they stay? Can you even imagine being that close to the evil? Have they shown any sympathy to or ahd any contact with Elizabeth's family since this tragedy? I'm sure no one has these answers, but have any of you wondered the same thing?

PS. I'm a long time lurker here ever since Caylee Anthony...

I apologize, but I read somewhere (a local source, and probably a comment to a news story) that the family of the suspect left the area as soon as possible after the arrest. I remember thinking that it was probably smart, but also very cold. At least be there for AB, if not the Oltens. I believed the source (if I have any credibility :P) I will try to remember where I saw this tomorrow morning when I am not as Trisha puts it "numb."

Still hoping they find her alive here soon!!

Ummm..... find who alive? I'm confused. Are you just letting us know that you are reading the first few threads and have not reached the point where Elizabeth was found?

Yes, but soooo many kids do not have model homes these days. And yes it is tragic. But there is a lot of tragic going around too. Like the whole prom thing in Calif.

I know...I did not come from a model home, and I grew up in California. I did have life-saving teachers and school counselors. I ended up well and in academia.

I think I heard on our news tonight that the families of both Elizabeth and teen were asked not to attend the hearing, but to concentrate on the funeral.

My mother-in-law was a guidance counselor. Now deceased, but in late 70's she was becoming very aggravated bc she had too much paperwork to fill out and was not able to have the contact with the students like she wanted.

At a wedding last weekend I was complaining to my mom that her and my dad were so overprotective growing up that now I'm so skeptical of people that I have a hard time trusting anyone enough to date seriously- and she snapped back that she'd gladly pay for a match.com membership and therapy at 30 since she avoided rehab, grandchildren, or a funeral at 15.

I thought she was being nasty (iiii want to wear the wedding dresssss sooonnn) ... but reading about this story, my god, I understand. My children are going to be on leashes.

oops my bad, I think I meant to post that in the morgan harrington section, sorry my bad! In fact I thought it was the morgan harrington section:doh:

Welcome newbies & thank you for your posts.
Thanks Tricia for protecting lillyanne.

My heartfelt condolences to the whole community, especially the school community.

I pray for you all to get through horrible time and become a a stronger, more aware, and caring community. It takes a village. :praying:

Hi all, another longtime "lurker" here (but geez I hate that term). Been checking in off and on for some time, but as an ex-h.s. teacher this one just rips me up.

I wanted to comment on Tricia's decision about lillianne. Tricia, IMHO you did the right thing, and that is not always the easy thing. lillianne is clearly a smart kid who needs an outlet to process what's happened so close to her. I hope she finds that outlet.

The kids who are left behind to wade through the aftermath of this tragedy need guardian angels of some sort, but this site is not what they need right now. Hell, it's hard for adults to come here and see so many stories with tragic endings. In this case, I hope that the guardian angels come from the community, some of whom do post here--and to you, my sympathies and hopes for you to have strength and wisdom to share with those scared confused kids who need you most now.

I live 10 miles from where the high school homecoming gang-rape occurred, and honestly am sick at heart these days. I'm no sleuth myself. Guess I keep coming back here because putting the puzzle pieces together feels like it helps make sense of it all. Thanks to those of you who have been posting, adding pieces, and... well, just CARING so much.

President's Award for

Educational Excellence

This award was started to help students achieve academically by rewarding them.

Only students in the exit grade are eligible for this award.

They must earn a 3.5 or better grade point average and achieve in the 85th percentile or higher in math or reading on a standardized test.

According to the News Tribune, AB won this award (along with other classmates) recently at her school. Also it appears the two girls attended the same school.

I haven't seen alot of discussion about this in particular, and it might be way out there, but I'm going to throw it out anyway !

So, we know that Elizabeths father(Dale Olten) and older brother are presently in jail. And her father was the live in boyfriend of a missing woman, Jasmine Haslag. Jasmine was set to testify against Elizabeths father the week after she disappeared. Elizabeths father was acquitted of federal charges that were based on a search of his vehicle that revealed nearly 80 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 grams of marijuana, over $1,000 in cash and a pistol with the serial number removed. because...surprise! Jasmine went missing and couldn't testify.

Jasmine Haslag, Msg 06/18/07, Callaway County MO - Help Find The Missing

Also, that Dale Olten was the last one to see Jasmine alive. Plus, we have this from one of our sleuths..

MO-Jasmine Haslag- missing since 6/18/07 from Jefferson City MO - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

So her father is heavily involved in meth trafficking, guns, knives, and robberies, and is definitely a suspect in a missing womans case....along with her older brother..

Stay with me, I'm getting there. There is also talk about AB's bio parents being involved in the same things and both are in prison. Retrieved this from INsessions where they are talking about, "what's happening at courthouse there" This gives ALOT of info about AB, her grandparents, parents, from the locals etc..

http://boards.insessiontrials.com/showthread.php?t=359777&page=7

The locals on this board seem to know alot more than what's being said by media of course, and the premeditation comes from the grave being dug before the killing supposedly...

so, in response to the insanity that went on about the lack of an Amber Alert going out...could the sheriff maybe prejudged the situation because of the families involved? Since there is heavy criminal activity in each and such, could he have NOT done the Amber alert because he was convinced it had something to do with the family and all their criminal activities?
Could Elizabeths death somehow be related to all the criminal activity?
Does anyone know if Dale Olten and AB's parents are linked in any way? Did they hang out together, do drugs together, burglary, etc. together? Could this be a convoluted revenge crime?

Like I said, just throwing it out there...thoughts anyone?

also am wondering why media has been so silent in regards to how heavily involved Elizabeths family is in crime and if there is a correlation between her father and AB's parents

This is my first post and I find this one quite interesting. I did my sleuthing earlier based on the clues I received here and have been on facebook and myspace as well. The girl looks like the average teenage girl. It's very sad.

Back to this post...interesting that both families have connections to prison. Are they incarcerated at the same prison? Are they enemies? This could be a possibility for a motive. You really never know. Stranger things have happened. I think the outcome of this case could prove to be quite interesting. How sad for all the people involved and hurt by this crime.

BBM ~

Any idea what that means? The xD3? Do you think she was flatlining? or choking herself?

the tweet actually says:

"holy , i almost died last night xD
3:26 PM Aug 4th from txt"

so I'm gathering it's probably a hung over, squinty-eyed, big smile and the post time got caught up in the copy paste.

ETA: Sorry I didn't quote the original post about the tweet.

From what I understand, if this is the same AB, this was awarded to her back at the end of 5th grade. The article was dated June 14, 2005

Have y'all heard about the ICP and its subculture? Don't know if I can post it due to not wanting to paint them all with the same brush as AB.

O lord, my daughter used to listen to them and it made my stomach just bunch up in knots...i threw the shirts away, and a juggalette necklace? and told her that they were ridiculous. Sorry if anyone here likes them. But, O LORD>>>>> I would not allow it in my house. Yes all teens go through their thing, however, this stuff is downright heinous. She finally got over that stage, (thank you GOD) but I really thought a nervous breakdown was inevitable. You know though, anyone can say the music or lyrics to such and such made "me" do it." "It" is always a personal choice.

LOL! I don't blame you. Thank God my daughter isn't into that stuff (she doesn't like hip hop of any sort)...just regular rock. I first heard ICP like 10 years ago (insane in the membrane) and I couldn't stand them! I believe in giving the kids some freedom of expression and letting them develop their own tastes, but there's also a line ;)

akashana - As far as AB and the ICP sub-culture....I don't get how you are linking the two???

No. NO NAME was mentioned in the one I was talking about/mentioned. The one I was talking about, and that the poster was asking about, had a comment that said AB called Elizabeth on her cell phone after she had already started for home and asked her to come back.

It had the perp's named in it. Person attended the funeral..

Luckily I still had the page up on my comp. This is what it said:

"http://my.stltoday.com/CMITeam1CMITeam1 October 28, 2009 7:04AM

The suspect is a female, an older sister of the friend Elizabeth had been playing with at her house. I heard this a.m. that the suspect called her on her cell phone and asked her to come back after she had started walking home."

I guess that comment was pulled. What was the subject?
