Al Sharpton says he's helping the WH choose the next Attorney General http://www.businessinsider.com/al-sharpton-says-hes-helping-pick-the-next-attorney-general-2014-9 … #tcot #EricHolder #disgusting

Well thank God. Now we have NOTHING to worry about

Sharpton walked it back later:

Update (3:17 p.m.): Sharpton sent a statement to Business Insider clarifying that he is not involved in the "decision making."

"We did not say we are in the decision making. We are in conversation to reach out to them to have meetings about what we want to see in a successor," said Sharpton. "I have personally spoken to Attorney General Eric Holder today to express my views that he was the best civil rights Attorney General in history."

Lots of joggers out tonight. Protesting in #Ferguson. Ppl r still passionate! Police have their lights on us. Candle light vigil at station

Notice the "on us"

While in Ferguson, Sharpton met with the Brown family and reported back directly to Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama’s closest aides. Sharpton was directed to find out specific information, including what the Brown family wanted from the White House

The veteran activist, who is also leading Saturday’s march on Staten Island against alleged police brutality in New York, even suggested Jarrett turn up the heat on Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, and appoint a special prosecutor to replace St. Louis prosecutor Bob McCulloch in the Brown case.
“We’re not going to get a fair investigation with that guy, he’s got to go,” Sharpton told Jarrett, according to one person familiar with the exchange.

Appears he's close to this Administration.

I doubt if they have permits but here is what they can do without one. LE does have the right to ask them to keep moving.

If organizers have not obtained a permit, where can a march take place?

If marchers stay on the sidewalks and obey traffic and pedestrian signals, their activity is constitutionally protected even without a permit. Marchers may be required to allow enough space on the sidewalk for normal pedestrian traffic and may not maliciously obstruct or detain passers-by.

Hmmmm...somehow these rules got lost in translation???? They have managed to pretty much break them all.

The White House account describes multiple, individual contacts between either Obama or high-ranking administration officials and Gov. Jay Nixon and Missouri’s two senators.

On Thursday, Nixon and Obama talked, and the president “expressed his concerns over the violent turn of events on the ground,” the White House account read.

On Friday, Jarrett called Nixon “to receive an update and offer the Administration’s continued coordination and support to state and local officials,” according to the White House account.

Nixon announced on Aug. 14 he was stripping local law enforcement of its job and giving those responsibilities to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He said the streets of Ferguson “looked a little bit more like a war zone. And that’s unacceptable.”

I'm glad it seems Johnson now recognizes there were very real reasons for the tactics and equipment officers needed from 8/9 forward. Optics are not important; lives are.

This was from my previous post wondering about Michael's living arrangements. I think he couch surfed. :(

1) He was visiting grandma, but didn't live there

"They told me how many times my son was shot. Eight," said McSpadden. She said he was visiting his grandmother, who lives in the complex, and was returning from the store.

“He was a good kid. He didn’t live around here,” said Desuirea Harris, grandmother of the victim. “He came to visit me and they did that to him for no reason.”

2) He lived with grandma

They never married, and Brown, who has two sisters and a brother, bounced between the homes his parents shared with their respective spouses. When his mother moved out of the school district, according to friends, Brown began living with his grandmother in the Canfield Green apartment complex.

Livingston walked Daily RFT down Canfield to the low-slung apartment buildings where Brown was living with his grandmother. In the dimly lit front room, the family spoke fondly of the teenager. Some of them sat on the couch that he used as his bed. They say he slept like a rock on it, despite his big frame.

Good boy in a bad 'hood: Mike Mike, as the family called him (pictured with brother Andre, now 7 and sister Deja, now 14) had won a place at college and was told by his mother to 'do what he wanted this summer' as a reward. He chose to stay at his grandmother's house where the aspiring rapper had a makeshift studio

3) Michael lived with his two grandmothers, mother, and father in their respective homes?

Growing up, he lived under one roof with his parents, paternal grandparents and, later, a younger sister.

After his parents split up, he stayed with his mother though he remained close to all of his family, who lived near one another in north St. Louis County.

When his mother moved out of the Normandy District, he moved in with his paternal grandmother so he could remain at that school. But he continued to alternate between his parents and maternal grandmother.

4) Michael lived with friends

Brown stayed at Canfield with friends and, earlier this year, with his grandmother at the adjacent Northwinds apartments.

Very sad.

Crump did not sound mollified by the police chief’s comments.

“Laying there on the ground for almost five hours in the baking sun — his mother and father and family are out trying to get to their child, and they got the police lines up, and they bring dogs to keep the community back. What about his constitutional rights? What about his due process?” Crump said.l

“I’m here in Washington to ask for help in getting justice for my son in Missouri,” McSpadden said. “Missouri has not showed us anything that we’re looking for.”

Very sad.

It is. He didn't even have a "home"

But...neither do many many other children that grew up and never robbed anyone or assaulted an officer of the law.

Deplorable....I guess he sleeps well at night b/c his mattress is likely stuffed with cash. SMH

So I'm picking up some pizza for some protestors over at the #Ferguson PD and there are cops tucked away everywhere on W. Florissant.

There were 2 @ Burger King, a few by Mobile & Taco Bell, & now 2 here @ Domino's. & I'm not even in the "hot spot" on W. Florissant yet
